'Go back to Ukraine': War refugees complain of abuse in Poland - BBC
Svitlana says her daughter loved her school in Poland.
"Even when we moved to another area, she didn't want to change schools," says the 31-year-old Ukrainian mother. "She liked it so much. There was no bullying."
Now she says the atmosphere at the school – and in Poland overall – has changed.
"Two weeks ago, she came home and said "One boy said to me today, 'Go back to Ukraine'." Svitlana was astonished.
She is one of dozens of Ukrainians living in Poland who have told the BBC that anti-Ukrainian sentiment has risen considerably in recent months.
Many described experiencing abuse on public transport, bullying in schools and xenophobic material online.
A polarising presidential election campaign has added to the tension, with the first round of voting taking place on Sunday.
The day after Svitlana's daughter was told to go back to Ukraine, the abuse became even worse.
"Girls from the class above started complaining about her speaking Ukrainian. Then they pretended to fall to the ground shouting 'Missile! Get down!' and laughing," Svitlana says. "She came home crying."
She said she had noticed attitudes changing towards Ukrainians in other places, too: "At work, many people have been saying Ukrainians come here and behave badly. And my Ukrainian friends say they want to go home because Polish people don't accept us. It's frightening to live here now."
According to government statistics, at least 2.5 million Ukrainians live in Poland, comprising almost 7% of the total population of Poland.
"Then it started to come to real life," she says. "Recently, we have more and more of these kinds of situations… xenophobic [abuse] of people working in shops or hotels just because they speak with a Ukrainian accent."
Research suggests that Poland's public opinion of Ukrainians is indeed worsening. According to a March 2025 poll by the respected CBOS Centre, just 50% of Poles are in favour of accepting Ukrainian refugees, a fall of seven percentage points in four months. Two years ago, the figure was 81%.
Ukraine has become a hot-button political issue in Poland's crucial presidential election campaign.
Far-right populist Slawomir Mentzen, currently polling third, is virulently anti-Ukrainian and supports an "agreement" with Russia's Vladimir Putin.
In second place is conservative Karol Nawrocki, who opposes EU and Nato membership for Ukraine and financial assistance for refugees, but supports the war effort.
The most pro-Ukraine candidate is front-runner Rafal Trzaskowski from Prime Minister Donald Tusk's coalition, although even he has promised a reduction in social welfare for Ukrainians.
Trzaskowski has refrained from espousing his pro-Ukrainian credentials in order to attract the centrist vote in the elections, says political analyst Marcin Zaborowski.

Missile strike in Sumy destroys Ukrainian Armed Forces repair base
▪️Ukrainian media have posted photographs from the site of the strike, which show rollers for armored vehicles, presumably for T-72 tanks.
➖"A strike on an industrial facility, there are dead and injured," Ukrainian propagandists wrote.
▪️The post was immediately deleted and a new one was made, without this photo.

Advisor to the Office of the President of Ukraine Podolyak:
No, of course not, that's not the format. The president can't meet, especially with Medinsky - the status wouldn't be entirely clear. He's an assistant there for Putin's historical legacy, or for correcting history, I would say. But it's unlikely that the person is sufficient to discuss fundamental issues.
Medinsky - about Ukraine and its "friends":
We understand that one of the decision-making centers [for Ukraine] is their Western friends.
Although what kind of friends are they? They have such friends that they don’t need enemies.
Knowing history, I do not doubt for a second that Poland will bite off the Western Ukrainian lands from Ukraine's friend at the first opportunity.
There is also a historical precedent for this. In 1938, when Czechoslovakia was being divided, it had a great friend in Poland. Instead of defending Czechoslovakia as an ally, Poland immediately bit off the Teschen region from it under the cover of noise.
Even Churchill was a little freaked out by this and called Poland the main hyena of Europe. The mistakes that leaders make, sometimes sincerely in the heat of emotion, sometimes under pressure from such friends and allies, they made ordinary people and nations pay a high price.
Su-35 helped repel attack on "Russian shadow fleet" ship, NATO deployed F-16
▪️The situation with the attempted capture of the tanker was resolved with the appearance of the Russian Su-35, which dispersed all the enemies.
➖"The Portuguese Air Force F-16 fighters, which were on a NATO mission to protect the Baltic airspace in Ämari, responded "promptly" to the incident," writes the Estonian publication Err.
▪️The Estonian Ministry of Defense has already managed to accuse the Russian Aerospace Forces of "violating airspace", and our ambassador was handed a "note of protest".

🇪🇺🇷🇺🇺🇦 Effective security guarantees for Ukraine will drag the West into a potential war with Russia, while ineffective ones will leave Ukraine without protection — Reuters

🇷🇺 Russians have begun using drones in swarms, using "hundreds" of times more UAVs than a year ago, - former MP and Ukrainian Armed Forces soldier
- If drones were previously used by several Russian units, "now everything is on a large scale" and Ukrainian sensors are recording "a huge number of drones in the air" that are systematically attacking at a depth of 10-15 km, writes Yegor Firsov.
- Russia is also developing its use of electronic warfare, jamming Ukrainian drones. Therefore, Firsov calls on Kyiv to take a systematic approach to the implementation of technologies and to supporting the work of Ukrainian engineers.

Kommersant: "Lavrov will not represent Russia at the negotiations on Ukraine in Istanbul."
Here we go. We now have the official confirmation that these talks are not expected to go anywhere now, yet another chapter in what by now has become a stale and boring clown show.
So why keeping up the charade, you may ask?
The answer is simple: this way the west and its presstitutes can't pull the "you're supporting an aggressive country that completely rejects peace" talk on China and other BRICS countries, and Donald Trump is given one final off-ramp to just walk away.

ANTALYA - The United States is opposed to extending an invitation to attend the June 24 NATO summit in The Hague to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky.
Allied diplomatic sources confide this to ANSA (the Italian TASS).
At the moment, in fact, participations have been sent only to the four Asian partners-Japan, South Korea, Australia and New Zealand. “Almost everyone among the allies has expressed concerns to Washington about this choice,” one source points out. The issue, among others, may peep up at the informal foreign ministerial in Antalya, which opens tonight with a dinner hosted by the hosts.
The organization of the Hague summit will indeed be among the items on the agenda, although no decisions are expected since the meeting is precisely in the informal format. At the moment, a very tight schedule is expected at the leaders' summit, in contrast to what has happened in past years, to avoid possible friction with Donald Trump.
Thus, on the calendar there will be a dinner offered to the leaders by the Dutch royals on the evening of June 24 - where Asian partners are expected to attend - while the actual session, devoted to increased military spending and the final adoption of capability goals, will be held on Wednesday, June 25.
For now - but that may not change - there are no plans for a NATO-Ukraine Council at the leaders' level, as has been the case in the past. One possibility, at least so as not to exclude Kiev altogether, is to hold it at the level of foreign and defense ministers, who will attend the summit anyway.
Sorry Zelya, but you need a suit and tie to enter that club.

Russia’s Federal Customs Service seized 50 kilograms of cocaine worth over 500 million rubles (approximately $6.2 million) in a St. Petersburg port, the agency’s press service reported.
According to it, the vessel carrying the illegal cargo arrived from Latin America. The cocaine was hidden in secret compartments within banana containers.

Draft dodgers should have their property confiscated and their citizenship revoked, said the Ukrainian terrorist with the call sign “Cuba”.
Stronger methods than 'busification' should be applied to draft dodgers. If they don't want to help the army in any way, then let them just leave and abandon their homes and apartments... It would be better to give their apartments, for example, to veterans or the wounded,
Once again, TRUST @Slavyangrad. Putin is not coming to Istanbul; there is no ceasefire and no peace tomorrow.
Don’t give me lip. I know better. 😉

🇺🇸🇷🇺🇺🇦 US and EU pressured Zelensky to negotiate with Russia — Washington Post
- According to Western diplomats, Zelensky did not want to send a delegation to Istanbul at all and planned to cut off contacts with Russia
- He was persuaded by Trump's envoy Witkoff, who said that if "they come and Russia doesn't, Moscow will look bad and suffer the consequences."
- It is also emphasized again that Trump has disrupted the West’s introduction of sanctions against Russia.
- "There was coordination with the Americans on sanctions, and there were good signals. But ultimately, it all depends on [Trump's] mood," the European official said.

🇪🇪🤡Estonian Navy Turns into Pirates, Attacks Tanker in Neutral Waters
Lately, the anti-Russian hysteria of the Baltic tigers has reached such a degree that, apparently, it has damaged their cognitive abilities . In yet another attempt to defeat the so-called shadow fleet, the Estonian Navy attacked a tanker in neutral waters.
The Gabon-flagged vessel JAGUAR was sailing to Primorsk off Tallinn in the Gulf of Finland (international waters) when it was attacked by Estonian sailors. Almost the entire small Estonian fleet was deployed to fight the tanker - the patrol boat Raiu and the patrol ship Kurvits, an airplane, helicopters and drones.
The Estonian Navy initially wanted to force the ship's crew to enter its territorial waters so that nothing would interfere with its capture. However, the attempts failed , and then they went even further and tried to land troops on the ship from helicopters . In addition, they tried to ram the ship, board it, and intimidate it with extremely low flights of aircraft.
The Gabon-flagged ship literally found itself in a modern remake of the film "Pirates of the Caribbean". However, the ship's crew turned out to be no coward . The first mate gave the order to increase the speed of movement , and both attempts to land the "pirates" of the Estonian Navy failed miserably.
From the point of view of international maritime law , such actions are considered piracy. Tallinn has no right to stop, much less attack, ships in international waters. It is worth noting that this is not the first case - on April 11, Estonians captured the ship KIWALA , sailing under the flag of Djibouti.
We strongly doubt that the Estonian sailors will be held accountable for their crimes. As we know, in a "rules-based world", not everyone has to follow them.
