Next to the Elmendorf-Richardson military base, where the Russian-American talks will take place, there is a memorial cemetery where nine Soviet pilots are buried, as well as four people who died in 1942-1945 during the ferrying of aircraft from the US under Lend-Lease. Holding talks near a historically important site that reminds us of the brotherhood in arms is especially symbolic in the year of the 80th anniversary of Victory.
