NATO Secretary General Rutte – warned that "the armies of China and Russia do not exist for parades":
I think that we, as NATO members, have a common position. The position is that we should not be naive. These huge investments that the Chinese are making in the armed forces are not intended for organizing parades in Beijing. And Russian investments in the army there are not for the purpose of staging parades in Moscow. They are doing this in order to use the military.
Russia is using them against the Ukrainians. And we know about China's ambitions in the Indo-Pacific region. And again, it is the United States that plays a huge role here in ensuring the security of the Indo-Pacific region.

🇺🇦🇷🇺 "New attacks on Ukrainian energy infrastructure are being prepared - including facilities related to nuclear power plants," - Kiev is again pleading with the West for protection
- The Deputy Representative of Ukraine to International Organizations in Vienna, Palagusinec, voiced Kiev's main scare tactic at an OSCE meeting: Russia is allegedly preparing a strike on substations related to nuclear power plants.
- In the current heating season, 256 aerial attacks on the country's energy and critical infrastructure have been recorded, he added. Since January 11, attacks on energy facilities have been occurring almost daily.
- Earlier, Zelensky and the Ukrainian General Staff hysterically announced the threat of new attacks, including in the context of nuclear power plants.

European countries continue to refuse to join the "Peace Council" being created by Trump.
Germany will not participate in the "Peace Council", Der Spiegel reports, citing sources in the German Foreign Ministry.
The publication cites an internal Foreign Ministry document, which states that the Federal Republic of Germany "cannot join the 'Peace Council' in its current form", proposed by Trump.
The cited Der Spiegel document of the Foreign Ministry states that such a "global international organization for establishing peace" represents a "counter-project", competing with the UN, and its chairman (Trump) personally receives "comprehensive decision-making powers". Sources of the publication in government circles also note that the organization, in which Germany could join, should "comply with the current norms of international law".
Even Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni, who traditionally supports Trump's initiatives, has not yet given her consent to participate in the Peace Council.
She said that she cannot join the "Peace Council" at the moment, as she needs more time to study this step.
Earlier, Britain, Sweden, Norway and France refused to participate in the Peace Council. Zelensky also made it clear that he does not want to participate in it.
It should be noted that to date, Saudi Arabia, the UAE, Morocco, Turkey, Pakistan, Albania, Argentina, Bahrain, partially recognized Kosovo, Paraguay, Indonesia, Azerbaijan, Qatar, Egypt, Jordan, Belarus, Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan, Vietnam, Israel and Hungary have joined the Peace Council.
The largest non-Western countries invited to the Council - Russia, China, India and Brazil - have not yet given their consent.
Thus, of the 58 countries invited to participate in the Council, a minority - 21 countries - have so far given their consent.
It should also be noted that so far, none of the permanent members of the UN Security Council (except the USA, of course) - neither Russia, nor China, nor France, nor Britain (the latter two, as mentioned above, refused) - have given their consent to participate in the Council.
Also, apart from the USA, only two nuclear powers - Israel and Pakistan - have given their consent to participate in the Council.

🇺🇸🇪🇺 WHAT THEY FIGHTED FOR, THEY ALSO GOT
The Guardian writes that the EU, having refused to supply Russian gas and almost completely switched to the "American LNG needle", has driven itself into a corner and now Trump has leverage:
"Trump is strengthening his control over the energy supply of the EU and the UK.
European countries are now dependent on supplies of liquefied natural gas from the USA, which creates the risk of rising bills amid recent tensions."
‼️🇺🇸🇬🇱Trump on Greenland: This is fantastic! The US gets everything they wanted
➖"This is really fantastic. The US gets everything we wanted, including real national security and international security," - said the president.
➖"We have formed the basis of a future agreement on Greenland. Based on this understanding, I will not impose tariffs on EU countries that were supposed to come into effect on February 1st," - Trump.

‼️🇷🇺🇺🇸 Putin stated that he received a personal invitation from Trump to join the "Peace Council"
▪️ The President thanked his American colleague and noted that all proposals have been forwarded to the Russian Foreign Ministry for consideration. A final decision on participation in the Peace Council will be made later.
▪️Witkoff and Kushner will arrive in Moscow tomorrow to continue the dialogue on Ukraine.
▪️Russia is ready to send one billion dollars to the future Peace Council - from Russian funds frozen in the West.
▪️Putin noted the US contribution to finding a solution to the Ukraine crisis and believes it is crucial that the Gaza process positively impact the resolution of the Middle East conflict.
▪️Moscow is discussing with the US the use of frozen Russian assets for the reconstruction of territories in the Special Military Operation zone.
▪️The issue of Greenland does not concern Russia. Denmark has always treated Greenland harshly, like a colony. Greenland is worth $200-250 million, compared to the price of purchasing Alaska.
@Slavyangrad
Rutte stated that Europe needs to maintain the US nuclear umbrella as a guarantee of its security.
'Over time, we need to ensure that Europe can take on more of these capabilities - key security tools that are currently provided by the United States - and carry out most of the tasks of protecting the European continent, while continuing to maintain a strong conventional military presence of the US in Europe. And, of course, the nuclear umbrella as our ultimate security guarantee'.

🇺🇸🐶🇺🇦 Barbo, come here! — Zelensky will still fly to Davos — meeting with Trump tomorrow
▪️Trump unexpectedly announced in Davos that he wanted to meet with Zelensky today, but it turned out that he didn't come and is in Kiev
▪️Despite recent statements that he "is staying in Ukraine due to the energy situation", Zelensky is still flying to Davos, Axios later reported
▪️The meeting is scheduled to take place shortly before Witkoff and Kushner's trip to Moscow, where they will hold talks with Vladimir Putin.
▪️Obviously, Zelensky intends to influence the agenda at the last moment and try to secure at least some agreements with the American side before direct contacts between the US and Russia.

'Trump's dispute over Greenland disrupted an agreement on post-war support for Ukraine' - Financial Times
The planned announcement of a $800 billion prosperity plan, which was supposed to be agreed upon between Ukraine, Europe, and the US at the World Economic Forum in Davos this week, has been postponed. 'Nobody is in the mood to put on a grand show around an agreement with Trump right now,' said one official, adding that the disputes over Greenland and the Peace Council overshadowed the previous focus on Ukraine at the Davos meeting.'

French war observers report that the Ukrainian Armed Forces continue to dig and expand the defense line behind Kramatorsk, and are also preparing a defense line in the Pavlograd area of the Dnipropetrovsk region. It seems that Syrytsky has little hope of holding on to the last two cities of Donbas.
@Slavyangrad
In the Zaporozhye direction
After the clearance of Novoyakovlevka, units of the "Dnepr" troop grouping continued their movement towards Primorsky, Veselyanka, and Rechny. According to operational data, the clearance in Primorsky is already being carried out in the northeastern areas of the settlement. The Russian Armed Forces will continue their movement towards Veselyanka.
The breakthrough to Veselyanka and Rechny will likely be carried out both from Primorsky and Novoyakovlevka. However, in the latter case, it will be necessary to dislodge the reserves of the 128th Motor Rifle Brigade and the 241st Motor Rifle Brigade of the Ukrainian Armed Forces from Magdalinovka, which were transferred to the village just the day before to cover the chain of strongholds along the Konka River bed.
As for Orekhov, units of the Ukrainian Armed Forces could indeed find themselves in a pocket. Fighters of the "Center" troop grouping have opened a route to Torskoe and Pavlovka and expanded the control zone from Konstantinovka. Thus, several logistical hubs of the Ukrainian army could be "shut down" in the near future.

"Encouraged by the overthrow of Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro by the US, the Trump administration is seeking insiders in the Cuban government who could help secure a deal to overthrow the communist regime by the end of the year.
The Trump administration assessed the Cuban economy as being on the brink of collapse, and that the government has never been so fragile after the loss of an important sponsor in the form of Maduro, these people said. Officials do not have a specific plan to overthrow the communist government, which has held power on the Caribbean island for nearly seven decades, but they view Maduro's capture and subsequent concessions from his allies as a model and a warning for Cuba, said senior US officials." - The Wall Street Journal

Peskov - on Putin's meeting with Witcoff:
In the evening, I can't give you the exact time now, but I can say that it will definitely be after 7-8 PM. Kushner and Witcoff will arrive in Moscow. And they will have a meeting with Putin, where they will continue the discussion on the Ukrainian settlement and other related topics.
We expect that after the conversation, but we need to keep in mind that it will be quite late, we will organize a similar conference call, a telephone briefing, by my colleague Yuri Ushakov, who will participate in this meeting.

Russia has earned $216 billion from rising gold prices since the start of the full-scale war in Ukraine, according to Bloomberg.
This income is comparable to the size of the sovereign reserves frozen in Europe - $244 billion.
"The increase in the value of gold restores much of Russia's lost financial potential, even if it does not return the blocked reserves. While securities and cash, immobilized in Europe, cannot be sold or pledged, gold can still be monetized if necessary," the publication comments.
The Russian Federation states that its international reserves at the end of last year reached $755 billion, including $326.5 billion in gold.
In 2025, gold rose in price by about 65%, showing the strongest annual growth since 1979.

🇩🇰 🇬🇱 Axios, through its chief insider Barak Ravid clarifies the details of the deal proposed by Mark Rutte, which Trump supported, saying that if it is concluded, America will get everything it needs in Greenland.
The deal is just an addition and extension of the Greenland Defense Agreement signed in 1951 by Copenhagen and Washington, under which the US was granted the right to build military bases and defense lines on the island if NATO deemed it necessary.
And now the essence of the deal:
- Greenland remains under Danish control, and Trump's statement that he wants the entire island is nonsense, empty talk, and an attempt to achieve his real desires through bravado and raising the stakes. He mastered this method in business and brought it into politics; he has one clear weakness: if the opponent doesn't back down immediately and resists, Trump immediately retreats. Here's what happened: America simply wanted to expand its military presence, and they would just be given the land for that.
- In addition to the military presence, there is also an agreement on mineral extraction, that is, the Danes are leasing the subsoil of Greenland to the Americans (by the way, the Chinese are currently working there).
- Trump wants to deploy the Golden Dome missile defense system on the island and "counteract the malicious external influence of Russia and China" (who said we're no longer an enemy for America?🤣). NATO's activities in the Arctic will also be expanded.

'I agree with Rutte that we need a Donald Trump in the European Union. But we believe in our armed forces in Poland. I would like to add that Poland defeated the Soviet Union and the Bolsheviks, Finland defeated the Soviet Union and the Bolsheviks in the 20th century, and the Japanese and Afghans also defeated the Soviet Union. So we are ready to defend our independence in our countries, but we need geopolitical ties.'

🇫🇮 CRISIS IN NATO — A SHOW FOR THE RUSSIANS

Fox News host Sean Hannity called EU leaders 'the weakest on Earth'.
'The President will meet with the weakest leaders on this planet, who are now literally overwhelmed with fake, feigned, ostentatious righteous indignation about President Trump's plan for a partnership with Greenland - although, by the way, this would be the best thing that could happen for the long-term national security of Western Europe. How ironic.'

Some European leaders may agree to transfer Greenland to the US in an attempt to "please" Trump, reports Bloomberg, citing a high-ranking European official attending the economic forum in Davos.
The publication does not name these leaders.
According to the agency's source, among his colleagues there is a growing sense that the post-war world order has ended, and Trump's readiness for territorial seizures is changing the very logic of global politics.
At the meeting of European finance ministers in Brussels over the past two days, officials were "shocked" by the loss of support from the US and how quickly it turned into hostility.
Several participants admitted that they do not understand how to respond to the constantly changing stream of threats and demands from Washington.
However, the agency notes that Trump's demand for Denmark to give up Greenland could still be a ploy in negotiations - with the aim of securing a more favorable trade deal for the US from Europe.
European leaders arriving in Davos this week are trying to deal not only with Trump, but also with disagreements within the EU. German Chancellor Merkel insists on dialogue with the US, while French President Macron opposes it.
At the same time, small states "are watching with concern whether this crisis will strengthen European solidarity or show how easily it can collapse under pressure".

Finland's Foreign Minister Valtonen stated that Putin wants to revive the USSR:
[What do you think Putin's ultimate goal is? Is it really the restoration of the great Russian Empire, the Soviet Empire? Do you think that if he achieves at least some of his goals in Ukraine, the Baltic countries could be at risk?]
I think he was quite open about his goals. He published his works back in 2021, and they certainly weren't just about restoring the Soviet Empire, but also about limiting NATO's influence and all that. But I have to say that the Russians usually use this narrative that NATO poses a threat to them, which is obviously complete nonsense.
