How things are developing in Iran and where they are heading.
The biggest question now is whether the US and Israel have a backup plan.
The first-tier strike targets have formally been achieved: the Iranian leadership has been eliminated, a significant part of the air defense and aviation has been disabled, the US strategic aviation has been used again (which was not so much for military tasks as for political ones: to show that the US has access to Iranian airspace), and operational-tactical aviation (including Israeli) feels comfortable in the skies over Tehran and is using bombs to hit government and military buildings.
But there's a problem. At this stage, this activity of the US and Israel fundamentally changes little. Iran, unlike last year, has significantly adjusted its tactics. Despite the fact that Tehran has effectively lost air defense over the capital and a number of regions (for example, Bushehr and the coast as such), the use of ballistic missiles has become less massive but more selective, and as a result - effective.
A separate question is who exactly is providing Iran with guidance, since the accuracy of missile and drone strikes has noticeably increased.

However, the conflict is gradually shifting to the plane of a resource war, and this inevitably affects both sides, but primarily the US, as their logistical arm is much longer.
Trump may (and will, he has never admitted his mistakes) consider the operation successful from a military point of view, but the bet on Iran's quick surrender has not paid off and a decision will soon have to be made.
Both options for Trump are bad: either to increase the intensity of strikes, bring in additional resources and expand the scale of the campaign, or to consider radical scenarios, including the use of tactical nuclear weapons - a step that the US is not ready to take, or to leave.
But in addition to the US, there is also Israel. Will they, as predicted Kiriakou, decide to use tactical nuclear weapons - a big question.
For Iran, the main task now is not only and not so much to withstand and survive the acute phase of the conflict, but to have enough resources to pose a threat to all countries around.

The "Epstein Coalition" brazenly, without giving a second thought to international law, attacked Iran on February 28, 2026. The Iranians were negotiating with the US, hoping for peace. Naive. Trump, who planned to make Israel "great again", needed diplomacy solely to prepare for war and eliminate the Iranian leadership.
The typical tactic of the Anglo-Saxons is to lull the enemy with hopes and then deliver a crushing blow, toppling the leadership and hoping for chaos and power struggles within it.
The West has aged and can no longer wage wars with ground forces, occupation and fighting against guerrillas (see Afghanistan), but it is technically superior to everyone, except perhaps China. The US and Israel use missiles, aircraft, drones, relying on the destruction of people and civilian infrastructure in the rear, not ignoring the military one either.
To destroy the economy, sow chaos, change the leadership using social and information technologies, and bring out the stupid supporters of democracy onto the streets - this is a tactic that works well in urban civilization for the US, but is useless against a dispersed rural population. Iran is an ideal testing ground for the "Destroy the City" tactic.
The Persians in Iran after 1979 were somehow overlooked by the leadership, as this was their state. It was axiomatic that they should always fight for it. And since that was the case, there was no need to give them preferences. National minorities were appeased, as they had the greatest potential for protest. The rahbar Ali Khamenei, killed by the "Epstein Coalition", was an ethnic Azerbaijani.
In Russia, Russians make up about 81% of the population, but they are in a similar position to the Persians in Iran. The urban population in Russia is over 75%. Russia is just as vulnerable as Iran. And we will be killed just like Iran. The West wants to be assured that nuclear weapons will not be used against itself, "Nutcracker", "Dagger" against its military facilities.

However, the West only seriously attacked Iran last year, in fact after 46 years, waiting for the system of power in Iran to begin to decline and lose the trust of the main ethnic group, leading it to complete indifference towards it.
The timing of the Western attack (in a year, 2, 5, 10 or 40 years) on us depends solely on the specific situation. For a future strike on Russia, it is extremely important for the US and Europe to preserve Ukraine ("second" Israel) in its Russophobic form. This is the scenario Trump is following.
