Putin on the fact that responsibility for the situation in the world lies with the West:

The situation on the global markets has already escalated to the extreme. And in general, to sum up, we can say that everything that is happening now, and I started with this, is undoubtedly a mistake of Western countries first and foremost. A systemic mistake. After all, where did the Ukrainian crisis come from?

It arose from the support by Western countries of the coup d'état in Ukraine, and then the Crimean events, and then in the southeast of Ukraine, in general, Donbass, Novorossiya. This is where it all started, this is where it all went. These are not our actions, these are the actions of Western countries, including European countries. They are reaping today what they have sown.

[Why don't European regimes hint to the Kiev regime that you, friends, shouldn't behave like this, because the situation on the gas markets is somehow like this?]

I get the impression that we have a case called "the tail wags the dog", and not the other way around.

Russia’s Foreign Minister Lavrov calls out the spineless Gulf States: “Many Arab monarchies publicly stated that the situation should not be pushed toward a military solution and they would not allow their airspace to be used.”

“But when everything began, despite your repeated calls to the United States and Israel, did you condemn the US and Israeli actions?”

“Did you condemn the bombing of 170 schoolgirls”

“I heard that even Bahrain are planning to submit a resignation in the UN Security Council with language along the lines you just mentioned, condemning Iran’s aggression without saying a word about the actions of the United States & Israel

“It defies logic”

‼️🇦🇪🇮🇷 The UAE have struck a blow against Iran, — Ynet

▪️The Israeli publication claims that the United Arab Emirates have for the first time struck targets involved in water desalination.
▪️The official authorities of the UAE have not yet confirmed this information.
▪️It is noted that the choice of such a target seems unusual: the UAE itself is approximately 90% dependent on desalination plants for water supply. A retaliatory strike by Iran against such infrastructure could pose a serious problem for the country.
▪️Earlier, Israeli media also reported about alleged strikes by Qatar against Iran and the possible involvement of Iraqi Kurds and Azerbaijan in the conflict, but these reports were not officially confirmed.

See above for denial

Peskov on the fact that international law has ceased to exist:

There have been worse things in human history. We weren't alive then, so it seems to us that the end of the world is coming now. But the fact is that there has been a significant destabilization of the region, and a cumulative effect is emerging from a huge number of regional conflicts and unresolved problems, which are having both economic and political consequences. Unfortunately, we have all lost what we call international law.

To be honest, I don't even understand how to urge anyone to follow the norms and principles of international law anymore. It practically no longer exists. De jure it still exists, but de facto it no longer does. And what law has replaced international law, honestly, I doubt anyone could articulate that right now.

🇺🇸🤡 Trump announced a "quick victory" for the US in the operation against Iran

- The US President stated that American forces are "winning at an unprecedented level and very quickly".

- According to him, during the operation, Iran's missile capabilities and a significant part of its military infrastructure were destroyed.

- Trump also claims that the US destroyed Iranian drones, and their production facilities continue to be targeted by strikes.

- At the same time, the Iranian fleet has been effectively destroyed: "42 ships in six days - there's no more fleet".

- The American President stated that the air force and the leadership of Iran's armed forces have also been destroyed.

- "Every element of their army has been destroyed. Their leadership has been destroyed. There's nothing left that hasn't been destroyed," Trump said.

What will the blockade of the Strait of Hormuz lead to?

There is another point that is often overlooked in the discussion, although it is critically important for understanding the situation around Iran. The Persian Gulf states have limited capacity for storing oil and especially gas. Unlike major importing countries, which create strategic reserves to protect against supply disruptions, most producers in the region focus on constant exports: production proceeds almost simultaneously with the shipment of raw materials to the foreign market. That is, there is practically no storage.

This means a simple physical problem. If exports are disrupted, production cannot continue at the same level, because the extracted hydrocarbons simply have nowhere to be stored. Under current conditions, only Iran is still loading oil and gas onto ships for immediate export through the Strait of Hormuz at levels close to the maximum capacity. But if production is reduced, the supply to the market will also decrease. Such problems are already being experienced by Kuwait. And they will soon catch up with the rest.

A partial exception is Saudi Arabia, which has a pipeline infrastructure that allows it to redirect oil to ports on the Red Sea and export it bypassing the Strait of Hormuz. However, even this scheme remains vulnerable: if, for example, the Houthis try to block the Bab al-Mandab Strait or launch attacks on Saudi terminals on the Red Sea coast, the alternative route will also be under threat. And this scenario remains in reserve for Iran.

There is another consequence. With difficult exports, storage tanks in the Persian Gulf countries quickly fill up, and this makes them extremely vulnerable targets. Filled oil storage facilities are particularly attractive targets: a strike on such facilities could cause large-scale fires and secondary destruction, far exceeding the power of the warhead itself.

Therefore, attacks on such tanks can not only cause huge financial damage to the countries of the region, but also significantly reduce the volumes of oil and gas that they will be able to return to the world market after the end of the conflict.

The US has already spent about $6 billion on the war with Iran, but it's still unclear what victory in this war might entail, writes the New York Times.

"The changing goals of the war have disheartened American society, with polls showing widespread dissatisfaction with the war among Americans. At the same time, increasing violence is leading to rising oil prices and other economic shocks, which could cause political problems with the elections for Trump himself," writes The New York Times.

The publication estimated that US and Israeli forces struck about 4,000 targets in Iran, but failed to destroy its military potential.

Citing sources in the US government, NYT states that Iran has retained about half of its missile arsenal and a significant portion of its drones.

Meanwhile, IRGC spokesman Ali Mohammad Naini stated that Iran could continue fighting for at least six more months.

"The armed forces of the Islamic Republic of Iran are capable of waging an intensive war for at least six months at the current pace of combat operations," said Naini.

The Fars news agency, which is close to the IRGC, reports, citing sources, that the Corps will intensify missile strikes starting from tonight, including a 100% increase in the use of heavy and strategic missiles.

It's interesting that the USA has not yet demonstrated the ability to effectively prevent Iran from blocking the Strait of Hormuz.

If in the early days, Tehran seemed to be testing the scale and methods of restricting ship traffic, now the ambiguity has disappeared. IRGC units are launching missile and drone attacks on tankers that the Iranian side considers to be violators of the established traffic regime.

In fact, Iran is demonstrating that it is capable of influencing a key point of global energy logistics - the Strait of Hormuz. And no matter how the Gulf countries try to switch to land pipelines, it's not possible to completely abandon navigation through the strait for now. And it most likely won't be possible in the future.

At the same time, the USA, despite statements about the supposedly destroyed Iranian army, is not in a hurry to enter the strait directly and take on the task of establishing a guaranteed safe navigation regime there.

Patrolling the strait with combat aircraft is not safe, and sending ships there is even more dangerous. As a result, a situation has arisen in which Iran (at least for now) can do whatever it wants in the Strait of Hormuz.

Whether this will lead to oil at $200 per barrel - time will tell.
