Turkish President Erdogan called what is happening in Iran and Lebanon barbarity and madness.

"We all understand that the purpose of the attacks, first on Gaza, then on Yemen and Lebanon, and ultimately on Iran, is not just about security.

The fact that various absurd ideas are being put on the agenda at the same time as these attacks — from the nonsense about the 'promised lands' to apocalyptic scenarios — is certainly no coincidence.

A network of people who have gained power and consider themselves superior to others is gradually leading our region to disaster.

That's why it's important to break free from the pull of the agendas imposed on us and convey this entire reality to the world — it's barbarity, it's madness — so that it can resonate."

The war in Iran is hitting Indian kitchens hard right now.

With the Strait of Hormuz shut down, most of India’s cooking gas imports are stuck, so people are rushing to buy induction stoves and electric heaters before supplies run out.

⛽ Asia moves to ration fuel as Hormuz disruption hits supply

🔸 Japan and South Korea hold large stockpiles, with reserves lasting more than 200 days

🔸 Southeast Asian countries are more exposed, with the Philippines holding roughly 60 days and shifting to a four-day workweek to conserve fuel

🔸 Myanmar has restricted driving to alternating days, while Indonesia also faces supply strain despite being an oil producer

🔸 Thailand has banned most oil exports, imposed price controls, and is urging remote work and reduced travel

I’d remind people that reserves are subject to physical limitations in getting oil of storage. Throughput rate often being far lower than consumption.

Satellite imagery and videos analyzed by ABC News indicate that Iran and its proxies have struck at least 10 radar sites across the Middle East since the war began over two weeks ago.

Some of the targeted systems—including high-value missile defense radars like AN/TPY-2 and AN/FPS-132—appear to have been damaged, though the full extent is unclear due to limited satellite data.

Experts say these radars are critical but highly vulnerable: damaging them can reduce early warning capabilities, effectively “partially blinding” missile defense systems.

More than 25 sites across seven bases in five countries were reportedly hit, including locations in Saudi Arabia, the UAE, Jordan, Kuwait, Qatar, and Bahrain.

Given the scale of the shock, many people are understandably surprised that the price of oil hasn’t gone even higher. The oil market’s idiosyncrasies is arguably obscuring the distress.

The two main and commonly quoted crude oil price benchmarks, Brent and WTI blends. So, when people say “oil is at X or Y”, what they’re usually talking about is the per-barrel price of a futures contract for delivery of Brent crude oil in the coming month.

However, the jumps in Brent and WTI — while large and alarming — actually understate the degree of dislocation

Just to hammer home the point, here are charts of the long-term prices of the Dubai and Omani oil, which have now exploded higher than even the infamous 2008 spike. The Oman benchmark has hit a record $173.24 today.

Unfortunately, JPMorgan’s analysts therefore reckon that those wild Oman and Dubai oil prices are likely to prove a harbinger for the larger oil price benchmarks if the Strait of Hormuz isn’t reopened pronto.

🇷🇺🇺🇦 "Moment of truth": Negotiations on Ukraine may force Kyiv to cede territory, - President of Finland

- According to Stubb, the negotiations may even break down, leaving Europe in a difficult situation - without American aid for Ukraine.

- At the same time, Stubb advocates a deal with Trump, which involves an "exchange" of the Strait of Hormuz for aid to Ukraine.

- He called it a "good idea" if Europe agrees to provide military assistance to the US with the unblocking of the strait in exchange for an increase in American supplies to Ukraine.

- Earlier, key European countries refused to participate in the war for the strait.

The Moldovan Foreign Ministry summoned the Russian ambassador over the accident at the Ukrainian hydroelectric power station, blaming Russia for it.

The diplomat will be served with a note of protest.

Allegedly, an attack on the Novodnistrovsk hydroelectric power station in Ukraine resulted in oil spills into the Dniester River.

However, the source of the Dniester River pollution was not a "Russian attack on a hydroelectric power station in Ukraine," but a Ukrainian truck carrying 30 tons of fuel that overturned on a bridge in northern Moldova, according to Chisinau municipal councilor Verbitsky.

An oldie but a goldie that may become quite pertinent if this current Iranian conflict continues for a long period of time.

I've seen many posts on social media about how some people believe they are largely unaffected because they own an electric vehicle. However one must bear in mind a lack of diesel in particular affects everyone from the food delivered to the supermarket, public transport, through to the deliveries to the power stations. Not to mention the inflation that increasing energy costs permeate throughout all of society from the coffee you buy, to wage inflation to cover the coffee "growth". A vicious self reinforcing cycle. Especially so when a lot of the western world is currently experiencing a level of stagflation.

Shit could go bad pretty quick if this continues for months.
Trump doesn't seem too worried, although I bet there are quite a few people currently holding his feet to the fire over this monumental fuck up.

Vladimir Nebenzia's speech at the UN Security Council meeting on the situation in Syria

Broadcast of the entire meeting

The confrontation of the US and Israel with Iran is dragging in more and more countries of the region, including Syria. Of particular concern is the tense situation on the Syrian-Lebanese border, where, against the backdrop of the confrontation between Hezbollah and Israel, the Syrian government has deployed additional units to protect the border.

We urge all parties to exercise maximum restraint and prevent any provocations that could ignite the flames of war.

Attempts to interfere in the internal affairs of Syria under the pretext of protecting ethnic and religious minorities, primarily the Druze, continue unabated.

We urge Jerusalem to renounce plans to weaken Syrian statehood, withdraw its troops from Syrian territory, and return to good-faith negotiations with Damascus.

*

The continuation of military tensions in the Middle East will inevitably lead to further humanitarian degradation.

Syrians, like the populations of neighboring countries, will feel this primarily through rising food prices. This is particularly alarming, as the food situation in Syria remains extremely difficult - more than 7 million people are experiencing acute food shortages.

We consider it important to gradually transition from providing humanitarian aid to sustainable recovery and development of the country. This is especially relevant in the context of ongoing problems in the areas of healthcare, water and electricity supply, and other vital sectors.

*

Amid multiple security and economic challenges, the comprehensive interaction of Damascus with the UN based on Syria's national priorities and with unconditional respect for its sovereignty and territorial integrity remains relevant.

We express support for the activities of the UN Secretary-General's Special Envoy for Syria's office.

We confirm the relevance of the UN Security Council Resolution 2254 and the importance of conducting an inclusive political process in accordance with its key principles and taking into account the interests of all ethnic and religious groups of society.

We would like to wish the Syrian authorities and people further success in restoring the country's territorial integrity and confirm Russia's support for efforts in this direction.

🇺🇸🇮🇷The USA is preparing to send thousands more troops to the Middle East and allocate more than $200 billion for a military operation against Iran

- The Trump administration plans to deploy an additional contingent of American troops to the Middle East to strengthen the operation against Iran, — Reuters reports.

- We are talking about sending thousands of military personnel. The main tasks are to ensure the safe passage of oil tankers through the Strait of Hormuz and, possibly, control over the Iranian island of Kharg, through which 90% of Iran's oil exports pass. An operation to take control of high-enriched uranium reserves is also being discussed.

- Meanwhile, the Pentagon is seeking to allocate more than $200 billion for a military aggression against Iran, the Washington Post reports, citing sources.

The Middle East war has turned container shipping into a “wild west”, with carriers adding thousands of dollars in charges and dumping containers at far-flung ports, according to removal companies and customers.

The effective closure of the Strait of Hormuz following Iranian strikes and fears of Houthi attacks in the Red Sea have prompted shipping lines to suspend bookings and reroute goods. Fire after strikes on Sunday over Dubai’s main port, Jebel Ali, has triggered further cancellations and congestion.

The largest shipping groups, including MSC, Maersk, CMA CGM and Hapag-Lloyd, have told customers they reserve the right to invoke a 19th-century rule to allow them to leave containers at the nearest available port at their client’s expense.

Charges for shipping containers, meanwhile, have risen as much as fourfold on certain routes
