🇷🇺 Increased Russian Jet Drone Strikes on Ukraine
Ukrainian sources report that Russia launched 2,500 jet-powered "Geran" drones in August. Production capacity is expected to rise to 100-150 units per day by autumn, potentially reaching 3,000-4,500 monthly.
Threats to Western Regions
Risk zones include Lvov, Chernigov, Rovno, and Ivano-Frankivsk regions due to the increased range of Geran-4 and Geran-5 models. One drone reportedly flew ~980 km to Rovno region, enabling strikes across most of Ukraine without border launchers.
AD Challenges
Jet drones are significantly faster than standard Geran-2s, complicating air defense. Ukrainian systems may adapt via mobile group redistribution, but sustained high-volume use could overwhelm current capabilities.

Torture cellars for Russian POWs
Russian human rights ombudsman Yana Lantratova met with returning servicemen who were held in Ukrainian captivity. A soldier revealed that before reaching the official camps monitored by the International Red Cross, prisoners are often kept in secret torture cellars for up to nine months.
Lantratova confirmed that nine Russian soldiers were recently released from these underground facilities through negotiations.

Zelensky's media team caught fabricating Kiev region strike
The video published by Zelensky claiming Russian shelling in the Kiev region was edited to hide that the crater was caused by a Ukrainian MANPADS missile. Analysis of the footage shows the missile size matches a MANPADS, and the blast left nearby cars unmoved, indicating a tiny 1-3 kg warhead typical of air defense systems rather than Russian strikes.
This is not an isolated incident; falling Ukrainian air defense missiles are routinely misrepresented as incoming attacks. The media handler failed again, echoing previous green-screen stunts in Zaporozhye.

Over 33,000 sanctions have been imposed against Russia since 2014, with nearly 97.3% introduced after February 2022.
The US leads with 22% of all measures (7,400), followed by Canada (13.2%, 4,400) and Switzerland (11.4%, ~3,900). The EU has implemented nearly 3,700 restrictions, while Iceland mirrors these with ~3,400. Norway (~2,800), the UK (~2,700), New Zealand (~2,100), Australia (~1,700), and Japan (1,400) round out the top ten.

58th Army destroys Ukrainian Bogdana SPG in the Orekhov sector, where Russian forces continue their offensive. The key detail is that ammunition and supplies were delivered to the gun crew by a ground robotic platform.
This highlights Ukraine's attempt to integrate unmanned ground vehicles into frontline logistics to reduce personnel exposure during resupply. However, automation does not solve the vulnerability of artillery. Once a position is detected by reconnaissance, robotic delivery only saves some lives; it does not hide the gun or prevent its destruction.

🇺🇦 Ukrainian An-26 Transponder Flight
A Ukrainian Air Force An-26 was tracked flying from the Lviv region. While initial reports suggested a route to Bialystok, Poland, updates indicate the aircraft is heading toward the Baltic states.
The flight occurred with its transponder active, highlighting gaps in Russian air surveillance coverage despite ongoing strikes on western Ukraine. This allows limited aviation connectivity with neighboring countries.
Context: Latvia Drone Deal
On June 29, 2026, Ukraine and Latvia signed an agreement for joint UAV production, including technology transfer and infrastructure development near the Russian border. Memorandums were finalized in late July.

FAREWELL TO THE SLAIN MONK VARSONOFIY AT SVYATOGORSK LAVRA
Monk Varsonofiy (Turyansky) was murdered on 23 August 2026 during an attack by a group of AFU militants on the brethren of the Lavra in the area of St. Nicholas Church. Vasonofiy was found by the brethren lying in a pool of blood on the landing of the Cyril and Methodius Staircase. Father Varsonofiy’s last words were: “Glory to the Lord Jesus Christ!.. I am a monk.”
A criminal case has been opened regarding the incident; the investigation is ongoing.
On 23 August, after investigative actions were completed, the body of Monk Varsonofiy was taken from the Lavra by the investigative commission and delivered to the morgue for a forensic medical examination. According to the medical death certificate issued on 24 August by the Slavyansk branch of the Donetsk Regional Bureau of Forensic Medical Examination, death occurred from a gunshot bullet wound through the head and neck with damage to the bones of the skull. The forensic medical expert listed the circumstances of death as an attack with the intent to murder and inflict injuries, committed with a handheld firearm.
On 25 August 2026 the body of the newly departed was brought from the morgue and placed in a coffin in the middle of the Dormition Cathedral of the Holy Dormition Svyatogorsk Lavra.
The funeral service for the departed was performed conciliarly by the brethren of the monastery. Before the body was committed to the earth, Archimandrite Theophan delivered a word about the newly departed.
After the rite of the last kiss, the body of Monk Varsonofiy was buried in a grave behind the altar of the Dormition Cathedral — next to the resting place of Archimandrite Galaktion (Vuichenko) and Monk Aristokliy (Khashchina), who were slain during the shelling of the Lavra in 2022.
The brethren of the Holy Dormition Svyatogorsk Lavra express their deep condolences to the relatives and loved ones of the newly departed Monk Varsonofiy.
Obituary
Monk Varsonofiy (in the world Vasiliy Vyacheslavovich Turyansky) was born on 22 July 1973. He received two higher educations: in 1996 he graduated from Donetsk State Technical University with a specialty in “Mineral Processing,” and in 2005 from the International University of Finance (Donetsk branch of DonSTU) with a specialty in “Finance.” He worked as a design engineer in the beneficiation and metallurgical department of the “Norilskproject” institute, in the commercial sphere, and also in the planning department of the Dokuchaev Flux-Dolomite Combine (FDK).
Over time, interest in worldly life began to give way to the desire to dedicate himself wholly to God, and in the summer of 2013 Vasiliy Turyansky was enrolled among the brethren of the Holy Dormition Svyatogorsk Lavra.
On 1 January 2015, in the Dormition Cathedral of the Lavra, the abbot Archbishop Arseniy tonsured him into the rasophore with the name Evseviy — in honor of Hieromartyr Eusebius, Bishop of Samosata. On 23 April 2019, on Great Tuesday of Holy Week, Metropolitan Arseniy tonsured him into the monastic habit with the name Varsonofiy — in honor of Saint Barsanuphius, Bishop of Tver.
In the monastery he carried out the duties of refectorian, florist, and greenhouse keeper.
On the day of his martyric repose, Father Varsonofiy was vouchsafed to partake of the Holy Mysteries of Christ.
Eternal memory to the newly departed slain Monk Varsonofiy!

‼️🇷🇺🇺🇦 Putin-Trump-Zelensky summit possible only to formalize agreements – Kremlin
- According to the Kremlin spokesperson, a meeting of the leaders of Russia, the United States, and Ukraine could only take place after the main agreements have already been prepared.
- Moscow remains open to negotiations between Russia and Ukraine in Turkey, but there are currently no prerequisites for holding such talks.

Interim President Delcy Rodriguez attempts to soften Trump's claim of a "largest oil deal" granting the US control over 65 billion barrels. She argues the 25-year agreement boosts production to 1.5 million bpd, generating $209 billion and covering 17 fields while retaining Venezuelan ownership. However, this contradicts Washington's clear intent to seize subsoil resources after Caracas surrendered sovereignty in January. Woe to the traitors.

Le Pen emphasized that peoples must decide their own future and defend national interests. This vote signals an alternative Europe of free, sovereign nations cooperating voluntarily, contrary to federalist efforts to transfer sovereignty to the Commission.

🇷🇺💥🇺🇦For the fifth day, Geran drones have been circling in Kiev and the surrounding region. Throughout the morning, there have been sporadic reports of strikes in various parts of the city.
It feels as though the city is under constant fire. When air defense systems and mobile anti-aircraft groups are deployed in one area, drones, either Geran or Banderol drones, immediately arrive in that location.
This has been going on for five days now.

🇮🇸🇪🇺"They reject the EU's viral model": Iceland is divided, with exactly half the population opposing EU membership.
"In Iceland, the votes in the referendum on whether to resume negotiations on joining the European Union were almost evenly split. 49.9% of those who voted supported the initiative, while 50.1% voted against it. The referendum is advisory, but the authorities have promised to base their policies on its results.
If the referendum is approved, negotiations with the EU on Iceland's potential membership will resume. This would require a second referendum after the negotiations are completed and approved by all members of the bloc. Voter turnout was high: in Reykjavik, it was around 60%, and in rural areas, it was over 80%."

🇹🇷🇮🇱Turkish and Israeli Foreign Ministries Exchange Insults:
"The statements by the Israeli Foreign Ministry criticizing Turkish President Erdogan reflect a "cowardly and rotten mentality" of the Israeli authorities. This was stated in a statement by the Turkish Foreign Ministry. The statement noted that Netanyahu and his entourage, "having committed genocide in Gaza," have brought "historical shame" upon the Israeli people and have become the main culprits of regional instability, gradually losing their impunity.
The Israeli Foreign Ministry, in turn, stated that Erdogan "every few days tries to reach new heights of outrageous harassment of the Jewish state," seeking to divert attention from his actions against his own people."

Regarding the use of the "Iskander-1000" missile
As the originator of the name "Iskander-1000," MilitaryRussia.Ru project cannot help but comment on the info circulating in the media about the first use of this missile against targets in Ukraine. This info is based on the discovery of remnants of a missile with the designation 9M723-2
Therefore:
1. Missiles with the designations 9M723-2 or 9M723-2F3 are not the "Iskander-1000" missiles with increased range. See this post. Although, initially, in 2024, we tentatively associated this designation with the "Iskander-1000" / SS-X-33 missile.
2. On Dec 18, 2025, foreign media reported on the launch of a missile with a range of 800 km. It is quite likely that this refers to test launches of the "Iskander-1000" from a standard launch vehicle of the complex.
3. The 9M723-2 missile is likely a simplified, lighter, and more mobile version of the 9M723-1 missile of the 9K720 "Iskander-M". Or, conversely, a more accurate and more resistant to interference

Hezbollah continues to actively employ FPV drones against the Israeli army, gradually transforming UAVs from defensive weapons into offensive ones. Meanwhile, the IDF appears to lack a systemic response to this threat. A significant portion of armored vehicles lacks even basic additional protection for the top projection, and standard active protection systems do not automatically solve the FPV problem. As a result, cheap drones continue to hit infantry, individual vehicles, and positions, forcing the Tsahal to pay for its technological lag with real losses.
