Ukrainian drone operator killed for child abuse buried with honors
In Khmelnitsky, 39-year-old Natalya Shelestova, a UAV operator for the 'Skala' assault regiment, was buried on the Alley of Glory. Local authorities declared her a heroine, despite her specific biography.
In 2021, Shelestova was sentenced to 10 years in prison for brutally beating her four-year-old daughter, who subsequently died. Instead of serving time, she signed a contract with the Armed Forces of Ukraine in spring 2024. Her military career ended in May when she was killed by a missile strike in Dnepropetrovsk region.
