Say, "Imagine if ALLĀH were to make the night continous for you until the Day of Resurrection, which god other than ALLĀH could bring you sunlight? Will you not then listen?"
Say, "Imagine if ALLĀH were to make the day continous for you until the Day of Resurrection, which god other than ALLĀH could bring you night to rest in? Will you not then see?"
It is out of HIS Mercy that HE has made for you the night and the day that you may rest therein (i.e. during the night) and that you may seek of HIS Bounty (i.e. during the day) - and in order that you may be grateful.
📖 Al-Qasas || Verses 71-73
Shaykh Ibn ‘Uthaymīn (may ALLĀH have mercy on him) said:
"The Messenger's (ﷺ) saying, 'Do not make yourself incapable' means: Do not become lazy and go back on an action once you have started it; rather, persist.
This is because if you left it and then afterwards started another action, and then afterwards you left ˹that˺ and then started, and then left, none of your actions would ˹ever˺ get completed."
📚 Sharḥ Riyaḍus-Ṣāliḥīn (2/82)
ALLĀH'S BOUNTY TOWARDS HIS CREATION
ALLĀH says:
It is ALLĀH Who has made the night for you to rest in and the day for you to see.
That is, HE has made it (the night) for your sake; HE has made it dark "for you to rest" in it from your activities which, if they were to be continuous, would cause you harm. So you retire to your beds, and ALLĀH bestows upon you sleep, which gives rest to minds and bodies. Sleep is one of the human necessities that man cannot do without. Every lover finds comfort in his beloved, and people become focused, and distractions are reduced.
And ALLĀH has made "the day for you to see" by the light of the sun that is running its course. So you get up from your beds and go about your business, both spiritual and worldly. So people may recite dhikr or read Qur’an, or pray, or seek knowledge and study; or engage in trade, or work as builders, blacksmiths and other professions; or travel by land or sea; or go out to till the fields, or to tend to their animals.
Indeed, ALLĀH is full of Bounty to mankind,
as HE bestows upon them these blessings and others, and HE averts harm from them. This requires them to give complete thanks to HIM and to remember HIM,
but most people are not grateful.
because of their ignorance and wrongdoing.
˹ALLĀH mentioned elsewhere:˺
But few of MY slaves are grateful. (34:13)
There are few who acknowledge the blessings of their Lord, submit to ALLĀH, love HIM, and use the blessings in obedience to their Lord and in pursuit of HIS pleasure.
{Tafsir As-Sa'di}
And it will be said to those who feared ALLĀH, What did your Lord send down? They will say, ˹That which is˺ good. For those who do good in this world is good; and the home of the Hereafter is better. And how excellent is the home of the righteous -
Gardens of perpetual residence, which they will enter, beneath which rivers flow. In it they will have whatever they desire. This is how ALLĀH rewards the righteous—
Those whose souls the angels take while they are virtuous, saying ˹to them˺, “Salāmun 'Alaikum (peace be upon you)! Enter Paradise for what you used to do ˹in the world˺.”
📖 An-Nahl || Verse 30-32
THE BELIEVER IS PATIENT WITH THE AFFLICTION AND THUS GAINS A REWARD
ALLĀH says,
WE will surely test you with something of fear and hunger and a loss of wealth and lives and fruits, but give good news to those who patiently endure.
These things will inevitably happen, because the All-Knowing, All-Aware has told us of it, and it happened as HE foretold. When it happens, people respond in one of two ways, either impatience or patience. The one who is impatient suffers two calamities: the loss of what he loves, which is the calamity that he has been stricken with, and loss of something greater than that, which is the reward for obeying ALLĀH’s command to be patient. Thus he incurs loss and deprivation of reward and whatever he has of faith decreases. He misses out on patience, acceptance and gratitude, and he becomes resentful, which is indicative of a lack of faith.
As for the one whom ALLĀH enables to be patient when calamities occur, he controls himself and stops himself developing any resentment that could be reflected in his words or deeds. He seeks reward for it from ALLĀH, and he knows that the reward he will attain for his patience is greater than the calamity that has befallen him. In his case, the calamity turns into a blessing, because it becomes a means of attaining something better and more beneficial for him than what he lost. So he obeys the command of ALLĀH and earns reward. Hence ALLĀH says:
but give good news to those who patiently endure.
that is, give them the glad tidings that they will be rewarded without measure.

The Prophet (ﷺ) said:

BENEFIT 21: REGARDING THE CALL TO PRAYER
It is sufficient when responding to the call of the muezzin at the testimony of faith (Shahadatayn) to say: "Wa Ana (And so do I)" or "And I bear witness (Wa Ana Ash-had)" or something similar. This is based on the hadith of Sahl ibn Hunayf, who heard Mu'awiyah ibn Abi Sufyan (repeating the statements of the Adhan) while he was sitting on the pulpit. When the Mu'adh-dhin pronounced the Adhan saying, "Allāhu-Akbar, Allāhu-Akbar", Muawiya said: "Allāhu-Akbar, Allāhu-Akbar." And when the Mu'adh-dhin said, "Ash-hadu an lā ilāha illallāh (I testify that none has the right to be worshipped but Allāh)", Muawiya said, "Wa Ana (And so do I)". When he said, "Ash-hadu anna Muhammadan Rasulullah" (I testify that Muhammad is Allāh's Messenger), Muawiya said, " Wa Ana (And so do I)". When the Adhan was finished, Muawiya said, "O people, (when the Mu'adh-dhin pronounced the Adhan) I heard Allāh's Messenger (ﷺ) on this very pulpit saying what you have just heard me saying" (¹)

Were it not that people might ˹be tempted to˺ become one community ˹of disbelievers˺, WE would have provided for those who disbelieve in the Most Merciful (ALLĀH), silver roofs for their houses, and ˹silver˺ elevators whereby they ascend.
And for their houses, doors ˹of silver˺, and thrones ˹of silver˺ on which they could recline.
And adornments of gold. Yet all this would have been nothing but a ˹fleeting˺ enjoyment of this world. And the Hereafter with your Lord is ˹only˺ for the righteous.
📖 Az-Zukhruf || Verse 33-35

THE PROMISE OF EVIL FOR THE TRANSGRESSORS
ALLĀH says,
And whoever turns away from My Reminder,
This means, "Whoever opposes my command and what I have revealed to MY Messenger, then he has turned away from it, neglected it and taken his guidance from other than it."
will certainly have a miserable life.
meaning, his life will be hard in this world. He will have no tranquility and no expanding of his breast (ease). Rather, his chest will be constrained and in difficulty due to his misguidance. Even if he appears to be in comfort outwardly and he wears whatever he likes, eats whatever he likes and lives wherever he wants, he will not be happy. For verily, his heart will not have pure certainty and guidance. He will be in agitation, bewilderment and doubt. He will always be in confusion and a state of uncertainty. This is from the hardship of life.
{Tafsir Ibn Kathīr}
The phrase "miserable life" has also been interpreted as referring to the punishment in the grave, for his grave will be narrow and he will be compressed in it and punished, as a requital for turning away from the reminder of his Lord. This is one of the verses that point to the punishment in the grave; the second such verse is: "...If you ˹O Muhammad˺ could but see the evildoers when they are in the throes of death and the angels are stretching out their hands..." (6: 93)
The third verse is: "WE will surely cause them to taste a lesser punishment before the greater punishment..." (32:21)
and the fourth verse is that in which ALLĀH said concerning the people of Pharaoh: "The fire, which will be shown to them morning and afternoon..."(40:46)
What made some of the earlier scholars think that this refers to the punishment of the grave only and limit its interpretation to that only - and ALLĀH knows best - is the end of the verse (20:124), at the end of which ALLĀH mentions the punishment of the Day of Resurrection.
Some commentators thought that the phrase "miserable life" applies to this world, and what befalls the one who turns away from his Lord’s reminder of distress, grief and pain, which is a kind of hastened portion of the punishment, as well as what will befall him in al-barzakh and in the hereafter, because the phrase "miserable life" is mentioned in general terms and is not specific, so it may refer to any stage.

In one of his lessons in al-Masjid al-Nabawi, sheikh 'Abd al-Razzaq al-Badr (may ALLĀH preserve him upon goodness) mentioned:
"If you ask ALLĀH "make the Qur'an a spring of my heart", then open the mushaf and recite it, ponder and reflect on the Words of Allah, and set aside a regular portion of your time for the Qur'an so that it will become a spring of your heart.
The Qur'an will never be a spring of one's heart while it remains sitting on the shelf or displayed - as some people do - for home decoration."

LIVE EVERY DAY LIKE IT'S RAMADĀN!
Once again, Ramadān, the month in which ALLĀH bestowed upon us so many of HIS favors has come and gone so quickly...
Alhamdulillah, for many of us, it was a time of self-reflection, to better ourselves spiritually and engage in various acts of worship to gain the pleasure of ALLĀH. But what happens now that we’ve just entered Shawwāl? Do we keep firm to this character we developed or slowly go back to our original state before Ramadān?
It was said: “If a Muslim continues to have the patience to do righteous deeds after Ramadān, this is a sign that his (fasting) has been accepted by his Lord, the Most Generous, the Bestower of blessings. If he fails to do righteous deeds after Ramadān and follows the ways of the Shaytān, this is a sign of humiliation, meanness, lowly status, and being deprived of the help of ALLĀH.”
Whatever acts of worship we took up in Ramadān, be it fasting, spending the nights in prayer, or just generally doing good deeds, we must try to keep up this compliance and continue to be as obedient to ALLĀH as we were in Ramadān.
Remaining steadfast proves to us that we have gained something beneficial from the holy month and that we didn’t just fast or spent greater time in worship for the sake of it being Ramadān. We should treat Ramadān, not as a one-off, but as a starting point to do good deeds, improve our spiritual awareness and come closer to ALLĀH for what remains of our lifetime.
ALLĀH says:
“And worship your LORD until the certainty (death) comes to you.” [15:99]
Ibn Umar reported: A man asked the Prophet (ﷺ), “Which of the believers is the wisest?” The Prophet (ﷺ) said, “Those who remember death often and have best prepared for it with good deeds; such are the wisest.” [Sunan Ibn Majah 4259]
But many of us wonder how we can keep the spirit of Ramadān going. In Ramadān, it seems to naturally fall in place, with us fasting in daylight hours, observing night prayers, giving charity, and reciting the Qur’an, while pondering over its meaning.
However, ALLĀH is so bountiful, that HE allows us to do each one of these acts throughout the year, just to name a few:
• We can still keep voluntary fasts (6 fasts of Shawwaal to begin with, already at our doorsteps).
• We can continue to perform night prayers.
• We can give to Charity and feed the poor and the needy all year round.
• And of course, we can recite the Qur’an anywhere and at any time.
The Prophet (ﷺ) said:
“The best deeds are those done regularly even if they are few.” [Ibn Majah 4240]
Abdullah bin 'Amr bin Al-'As (رضي الله عنه) reported: The Messenger of Allāh (ﷺ) said to me, "Do not be like so-and-so O 'Abdullāh! He used to pray during the night, then stopped the practice.''
[Al-Bukhari and Muslim].
We ask ALLĀH to grant us the understanding, accept our good deeds, and keep us steadfast on HIS straight path.

MIXING TRADE WITH CHARITY
Abu Wa'il narrated that Qais bin Abi Gharazah said: "The Messenger of ALLĀH (ﷺ) came to us, and we were what was called 'brokers,' he said: 'O people of trade! Indeed the Shaitan and sin are present in the sale, so mix your sales with charity'." {At-Tirmidhi #1208}
In another narration, he (ﷺ) said: "O company of merchants, unprofitable speech and swearing takes place in business dealings, so mix it with charity." {Abū Dāwūd #3326}
LESSONS AND BENEFITS:
• Even while engaging in worldly pursuits like trade or business, remain conscious of your faith and duties to ALLĀH.
• Permissibility of trade.
• Set aside a specific portion of your sales profits to donate to charity as it purifies wealth and earns the pleasure of ALLĀH.
• Good deeds wipe away bad deeds.
• Always seek the help of ALLĀH to guard against the influence of Shaytan in your business dealings.
• Strive to be honest and transparent in your trades. Avoid lies, deceptions, and unnecessary oath.
And ALLĀH knows best.

GOOD-DOERS SHOULD NOT BE BLAMED
ALLĀH said,
"There is no reason to reproach those who do good" and carry out their duties towards ALLĀH and HIS slaves. There should be no blame on them. If a person does what he is able to, then what he cannot do is waived for him.
This verse is quoted as evidence for the principle which says that the one who does good to another person (with good intentions) by taking care of him and his wealth, and the like, but his attempt to do good leads to some damage or loss, then he is not liable, because he sought to do good and there is no reason to reproach those who do good. This verse also indicates that the one who does not do good, or does not do things properly, such as one who is negligent, is liable.
{Tafsir As-Sa'di}
THE VIRTUE OF ASSERTING THAT WE ALL BELONG TO ALLĀH, DURING AFFLICTIONS
ALLĀH says,
Give good news to those who patiently endure—who, when afflicted with calamity, say, "Indeed we belong to ALLĀH, and indeed to HIM we will return."
That is, ALLĀH owns us and we are under HIS control; we have no control over our own selves and property at all. If we are tested with regard to some of it, then the Most Merciful has decreed something concerning HIS slaves and their property as HE wills, so there should be no objection to HIM. Rather it is part of being a true slave of ALLĀH (‘ubūdiyah) to realise that the calamity has been decreed by the Sovereign, the Most Wise, Who is more merciful to him than he is to himself. This gives him a sense of contentment and acceptance of ALLĀH’s decree, which makes him grateful to ALLĀH for decreeing for HIS slave that which is good for him, even if he does not realise it. In addition to the fact that we belong to ALLĀH, we will return to HIM on the Day of Resurrection, when HE will requite each person in accordance with his deeds. So if we show patience and seek reward, we will find our reward waiting for us with HIM, but if we are impatient and resentful, our share will be nothing but resentment and the loss of reward. Knowing that we are slaves of ALLĀH and will return to HIM is among the greatest means of attaining patience.
{Tafsir As-Sa'di}
There are several Hadiths that mention the rewards of admitting that the return is to ALLĀH by saying:
إِنَّا لِلّهِ وَإِنَّـا إِلَيْهِ رَاجِعونَ
"Indeed we belong to ALLĀH, and indeed to HIM we will return."
when afflictions strike.
For instance, Imam Ahmad reported that Umm Salamah narrated: "Once, Abu Salamah came back after he was with ALLĀH's Messenger and said: I heard ALLĀH's Messenger recite a statement that made me delighted.
He (ﷺ) said: "No Muslim is struck with an affliction and then says Istirja' (innā lillāhi wa innā ilaihi rāji'ūn) when the affliction strikes, and then says:`O ALLĀH! Reward me for my loss and give me what is better than it,' but ALLĀH will do just that."
Umm Salamah said: So I memorized these words.
When Abu Salamah died I said Istirja' and said: "O ALLĀH! Compensate me for my loss and give me what is better than it."
I then thought about it and said, "Who is better than Abu Salamah?"
When my Iddah (the period of time before the widow or divorced woman can remarry) finished, ALLĀH's Messenger asked for permission to see me while I was dyeing a skin that I had. I washed my hands, gave him permission to enter and handed him a pillow, and he sat on it.
He then asked me for marriage and when he finished his speech, I said, "O Messenger of ALLĀH! It is not because I do not want you, but I am very jealous and I fear that you might experience some wrong mannerism from me for which ALLĀH would punish me. I am old and have children."
He (ﷺ) said: "As for the jealousy that you mentioned, ALLĀH the Exalted will remove it from you. As for your being old as you mentioned, I have suffered what you have suffered. And for your having children, they are my children too."
She said, "I have surrendered to ALLĀH's Messenger."
ALLĀH's Messenger married her and Umm Salamah said later,
"ALLĀH compensated me with who is better than Abu Salamah: ALLĀH's Messenger."
Muslim reported a shorter version of this Hadith
{Tafsir Ibn Kathīr}
BEAUTIFUL PATIENCE IS AT THE FIRST STRIKE OF CALAMITY
Anas ibn Malik, may Allāh be pleased with him, reported: The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, passed by a woman who was weeping next to a grave. The Prophet said, "Be mindful of Allāh and be patient."
She said, "Go away from me! You have not been afflicted by a calamity like mine," and she did not recognize him.
Then, she was told that it was the Prophet, so she went to the Prophet’s house and she did not find any guards there. She said to him, "I did not recognize you."
The Prophet said, "Verily, patience is at the first strike."

Indeed, the criminals will be in the torment of Hell forever.
It will never be lightened for them, and there they will be overwhelmed with despair.
WE did not wrong them, but it was they who were the wrongdoers.
And they will cry: O Mālik (Keeper of Hell)! Let your Lord put an end to us! He will say: Verily, you shall abide forever.
WE certainly brought the truth to you, but most of you have a hatred for the truth.
Or have they plotted some plan? Then WE too are planning.
Or do they think that WE do not hear their secrets and their private counsel? Yes ˹We do˺! And OUR messengers (i.e., appointed angels in charge of mankind) are with them recording.
📖 Az-Zukhruf || Verse 74-80

THE GOOD LOAN AND ITS REWARD
ALLĀH said;
Who is it that would loan ALLĀH a goodly loan
and spend whatever he can afford of his wealth on various good causes, especially jihad. What is meant by a goodly loan is that which is earned in a permissible manner and is spent for the sake of ALLĀH.
so HE may multiply it for him many times over?
The good deed brings a tenfold reward, up to seven hundredfold, up to many times more, according to the intention of the one who gives it, how beneficial it is and how much it is needed. Because people may think that if they spend they will become poor, ALLĀH wards off this notion by saying
It is ALLĀH Who withholds and ALLĀH Who gives abundantly,
that is, HE gives abundant provision to whomever HE wills and HE withholds from whomever HE wills. All control is in HIS Hands and all matters are directed by HIM. Withholding wealth does not increase provision and spending it does not decrease it. Moreover, spending is not wasted for those who spend; rather on that day they will find what they sent forward, complete and multiplied abundantly. Hence ALLĀH says:
and to HIM you will all return
and HE will reward you for your deeds.
{Tafsir As-Sa'di}
THE HONOR AND NOBLE NATURE OF MAN
ALLĀH tells;
And indeed WE have honored the Children of Adam,
ALLĀH tells us how HE has honored the sons of Adam and made them noble by creating them in the best and most perfect of forms, as HE says:
لَقَدْ خَلَقْنَا الاِنسَـنَ فِى أَحْسَنِ تَقْوِيمٍ
Verily, WE created man in the best stature (mould). (95:4)
He walks upright on his two feet and eats with his hand, while other living creatures walk on four feet and eat with their mouths, and HE has given him hearing, sight and a heart with which to understand all of that, to benefit from it, and distinguish between things to know which are good for him and which are harmful, in both worldly and religious terms.
and WE have carried them on land and sea,
means, on animals such as cattle, horses and mules, and also on the sea in ships and boats, great and small.
and have provided them with At-Tayyibat,
meaning agricultural produce, fruits, meat, and milk with all kinds of delicious and desirable flavors and colors and beautiful appearance, and fine clothes of all kinds of shapes colors and sizes, which they make for themselves or are brought to them by others from other regions and areas.
and have preferred them above many of those whom WE have created with a marked preferment.
means, over all living beings and other kinds of creation.
This Ayah indicates that human are also preferred over the angels.

HADITH ON KEEPING SECRETS
Thabit (May ALLĀH be pleased with him) reported: Anas (May ALLĀH be pleased with him) said: "The Messenger of ALLĀH ﷺ came to me while I was playing with the boys. He greeted us and sent me on an errand. This delayed my return to my mother. When I came to her, she asked, "What detained you?" I said; "Messenger of ALLĀH ﷺ sent me on an errand". She asked, "What was it?" I said, "It is a secret". My mother said; "Do not disclose to anyone the secret of Messenger of ALLĀH ﷺ". Anas (May ALLĀH be pleased with him) said to Thabit (May ALLĀH be pleased with him): By ALLĀH, were I to tell it to anyone I would have told you." {Muslim}
{Riyādhus-Saliḥīn #688}
LESSONS AND BENEFITS:
• An indication of the Prophet's noble character and humility.
• Recommendation that the old should greet a group of young children.
• The obligation to respect and obey the Prophet's orders and instructions.
• The rights of the Prophet ﷺ are greater than the parents' rights.
• Teach children good values from a young age so they can grow up as righteous individuals in society.
• It is essential to follow parents' instructions and advice, especially when they align with the Shariah.
• Upholding truthfulness even if you are alone in doing so.
• The secret must not be publicized unless you receive approval from the person who shared it with you.
/channel/alBaseeroh
As we grow up, we tend to forget the importance and value that our mother holds in our lives and the sacrifices she has made for us. But our beautiful religion does not allow us to neglect the women whose sacrifices are innumerable.
"Zu’ah bin Ibrahim said that a man came to ‘Umar (may ALLĀH be pleased with him) and said to him: 'I have an old mother who is unable to go answer the call of nature, so I carry her on my back. I also help her perform ablution while turning my face away from her (out of respect). Have I fulfilled my duty towards her?'
‘Umar said, 'No.' The man said, 'Even though I carry her on my back and exert myself in her service?'
‘Umar said, 'She used to do the same for you (when you were young) while hoping that you will live, as for you, you await when she will go away (die).'" {Kindness to Parents || Page 63}
Allāhu Akbar! May ALLĀH bless our Mothers and Fathers and make us from among those who treat them better than they deserve. Aamīn.
O you who believe! Stand out firmly for ALLĀH as just witnesses; and do not let the hatred of a people prevent you from being just. Be just; that is nearer to righteousness. And fear ALLĀH; indeed, ALLĀH is ˹fully˺ Aware of what you do.
ALLĀH has promised those who believe and do righteous deeds that for them there is forgiveness and a great reward (i.e. Paradise).
But those who disbelieve and deny Our signs - those are the companions of Hellfire.

CHARACTERISTICS OF THE QUR'ĀN
ALLĀH says,
And this ˹Qur'an˺ is a blessed Reminder which WE have sent down;
ALLĀH describes two characteristics that it possesses:
It is a reminder of all that one needs to be reminded of, such as knowing ALLĀH by HIS names, attributes and deeds; and the characteristics and stories of the Messengers and close friends of ALLĀH; Islamic rulings having to do with acts of worship, business dealings and other matters; rulings on requital, and paradise and hell. Through the Qur’an people are reminded of issues and proofs both rational and textual. ALLĀH calls it a reminder, because it reminds the individual of what ALLĀH has instilled in his mind and nature of believing in true stories, enjoining what is regarded as good on a rational basis, and forbidding what is regarded as evil on a rational basis.
The second characteristic that it possesses, namely that it is blessed, implies that it contains abundant and ever-increasing goodness. There is nothing more blessed than this Qur'an. Every good thing, blessing and increase, whether that is in terms of religious or worldly affairs, or in the hereafter, is because of it and is a result of adhering to it. As it is a blessed reminder, one should accept it with willing submission and give thanks to ALLĀH for this great gift, adhering to its teachings and seeking its blessings by learning its words and meanings. As for responding to it in the opposite manner, by turning away from it, ignoring it, rejecting it and not believing in it, this is one of the worst kinds of disbelief, ignorance and wrongdoing.

THE TRUTH ABOUT THE CRUCIFIXION
ALLĀH'S statement:
And because of their saying, "WE killed Al-Masih, Isa, son of Maryam, the Messenger of ALLĀH,"
meaning, we killed the person who claimed to be the Messenger of ALLĀH. The Jews only uttered these words in jest and mockery, just as the polytheists said,
O you to whom the Dhikr (the Qur'an) has been sent down! Verily, you are a mad man!. {15:6}
When ALLĀH sent Isa with proofs and guidance, the Jews, may ALLAH'S curses, anger, torment and punishment be upon them, envied him because of his Prophethood and obvious miracles; curing the blind and leprous and bringing the dead back to life, by ALLAH'S leave. He also used to make the shape of a bird from clay and blow in it, and it became a bird by ALLAH'S leave and flew.
Isa performed other miracles that ALLĀH honored him with, yet the Jews defied and bellied him and tried their best to harm him. ALLAH'S Prophet Isa could not live in any one city for long and he had to travel often with his mother, peace be upon them. Even so, the Jews were not satisfied, and they went to the king of Damascus at that time, a Greek polytheist who worshipped the stars. They told him that there was a man in Bayt Al-Maqdis misguiding and dividing the people in Jerusalem and stirring unrest among the king's subjects.
The king became angry and wrote to his deputy in Jerusalem to arrest the rebel leader, stop him from causing unrest, crucify him and make him wear a crown of thorns.
When the king's deputy in Jerusalem received these orders, he went with some Jews to the house that Isa was residing in, and he was then with twelve, thirteen or seventeen of his companions. That day was a Friday, in the evening.
They surrounded Isa in the house, and when he felt that they would soon enter the house or that he would sooner or later have to leave it, he said to his companions, "Who volunteers to be made to look like me, for which he will be my companion in Paradise?"
A young man volunteered, but Isa thought that he was too young. He asked the question a second and third time, each time the young man volunteering, prompting Isa to say, "Well then, you will be that man."
ALLĀH made the young man look exactly like Isa, while a hole opened in the roof of the house, and Isa was made to sleep and ascended to heaven while asleep. ALLĀH said:
And (remember) when ALLĀH said:"O Isa! I will take you and raise you to Myself)." {3:55}
When Isa ascended, those who were in the house came out. When those surrounding the house saw the man who looked like Isa, they thought that he was
Isa. So they took him at night, crucified him and placed a crown of thorns on his head. The Jews then boasted that they killed Isa and some Christians accepted their false claim, due to their ignorance and lack of reason.
As for those who were in the house with Isa, they witnessed his ascension to heaven, while the rest thought that the Jews killed `Isa by crucifixion. They even said that Maryam sat under the corpse of the crucified man and cried, and they say that the dead man spoke to her.
All this was a test from ALLĀH for HIS servants out of HIS wisdom. ALLĀH explained this matter in the Glorious Qur'an which HE sent to HIS honorable Messenger, whom HE supported with miracles and clear, unequivocal evidence. ALLĀH is the Most Truthful, and HE is the Lord of the worlds Who knows the secrets, what the hearts conceal, the hidden matters in heaven and earth, what has occurred, what will occur, and what would occur if it was decreed.
{Tafsir Ibn Kathīr}
Imam As-Sa'di (may ALLĀH have mercy on him) said:
"Whoever his goal when making Du’a is to get closer to ALLĀH along with getting what he asked for, this is much more complete than the one who didn’t want anything except what he asked for, like most of the people do."
