RAMADĀN REFLECTIONS: DAY 5⃣
OVERCOMING DESPAIR AND INGRATITUDE
This verse highlights a weakness in human nature. It reveals our tendencies toward despair and ingratitude, as we often lose hope and focus solely on what we've lost, ignoring the blessing of having it in the first place. This attitude can foster a sense of entitlement, making us forget that ALLĀH is the true Owner of all blessings, giving and taking as HE wills. When the Prophet ﷺ was informed about the death of his daughter's child, he said:
"Whatever ALLĀH takes is for HIM, and whatever HE gives is for HIM and everything has its fixed time. So ˹she should˺ be patient and look for ALLĀH's reward." {Bukhārī #1284}
We must understand that both gaining and losing blessings are tests in this world. They are not necessarily signs of ALLĀH’s pleasure or displeasure but are meant to develop us, refining our souls towards purity and perfection. Therefore, we must accept them with patience and without excessive emotional reaction.

THE BLESSING OF WITNESSING RAMADĀN IS A TEST
The blessing of witnessing the month of Ramadān is a test, just like with every blessing. ALLĀH says:
And WE shall test you with evil and with good by way of trial.
No doubt, reaching the blessed month of Ramadān is goodness, but failing to secure ALLĀH’s forgiveness and mercy—by not striving wholeheartedly to obey HIS commands and avoid HIS prohibitions—would be a true disaster for an individual.
Abu Huraira (may ALLĀH be pleased with him) reported: The Prophet ﷺ ascended the pulpit and he said, "Aamīn, Aamīn, Aamīn."
It was said, "O Messenger of ALLĀH, you ascended the pulpit and said Aamīn, Aamīn, Aamīn."
The Prophet ﷺ said, "Verily, Jibrīl came to me and he said: Whoever reaches the month of Ramadān and he is not forgiven, then he will enter Hellfire and ALLĀH will cast him far away (from HIS mercy), so say Aamīn. I said Aamīn..." {Sahih Ibn Hibban #907}
It says in Ad-Dorar as-Saniyyah: "It means, he has failed, lost, been humiliated, and rendered incapable—his nose has been stuck to the dust—everyone who reaches the month of Ramadān but becomes lazy in worship, does not strive and exert effort, until the month ends without attaining its blessings and without being forgiven."
In the Hadith, it appears that Jibrīl (peace be upon him) gave expression to this curse, upon which the Prophet ﷺ said Aamīn. Being an angel of such a high mark, Jibrīl‘s giving these curses is sure to be accepted.
This indicates that there is no laxity for anyone who witnesses the month of Ramadān. You may relax in all other months, but not Ramadan!
May ALLĀH shower HIS mercy and blessings upon us, grant us the ability to continue striving towards the path to Jannah, make us of those whom HE is pleased with, and make us emerge from this month with increased faith, inner peace, and righteousness. Aamīn.

A kind word, a sincere smile, a moment of remembrance—no deed is too small in the sight of ALLĀH. The Prophet ﷺ reminded us that even something as simple as greeting someone with warmth carries reward.
So today, embrace the little things. A whispered dhikr, a quiet dua, a small act of kindness. Each one brings you closer to ALLĀH, and each one holds weight in the scales of good.

RUSHING THROUGH TARAWĪH
Your Imām may choose to recite "mud-hāmmatān" (55:64) after Sūrah al-fatiha in tarawīh prayers. In this case, no one will say that his prayer is invalid, we can only offer advice for improvement. However, it is important to note that some actions and sayings must be performed correctly during prayer, including tarawīh, else the prayer may become invalid and may not benefit anyone involved just like the Prophet ﷺ told a companion after he concluded with the prayer, he ﷺ said to him:
"Go back and pray for you have not prayed." {al-Bukhaari #757}
He repeated his prayer three times but the Prophet ﷺ kept correcting him until he was finally taught the correct way to perform the prayer, the Prophet ﷺ said to him:
"When you stand to pray, say the Takbir, then recite whatever is easy for you of Qur'an. Then bow until you have tranquillity in your bowing, then stand up until you are standing straight. Then prostrate until you have tranquillity in your prostration, then sit up until you have tranquillity in your sitting. Then do that throughout" {Al-Bukhaari #757}
Abu Abdullah al-Ash’ari (may ALLĀH be pleased with him) reported: The Messenger of ALLĀH ﷺ saw a man who did not complete his bowings and rushed through his prostrations while praying. The Prophet ﷺ said, "If he were to die in this state, he will have died upon a religion besides that of Muhammad. The parable of one who does not complete his bowings and rushes through his prostrations is that of a starving person, who eats only a morsel or two that does not suffice him at all." {Al-Mu’jam al-Kabir #10459}
The following are acts and sayings that must be properly done in prayer by the Imam and the worshippers behind him:
1⃣. Proper recitation of Surah al-Fathia.
2⃣. Saying "Subhāna Rabbiyal-Adhim" at least once in Ruku, as long as it can afford those praying behind to do the same.
3⃣. Standing straight and calm after Ruku.
4⃣. Saying "Subhāna Rabbiyyal-Ala" at least once in Sujud, as long as it can afford those praying behind to do the same.
5⃣. Sitting calmly between two Sujuds.
6⃣. Saying "Rabbighfir lee, Rabbighfir lee" while sitting between two Sujuds.
7⃣. Being calm and still in each act.
8⃣. Saying the prayers for the Prophet ﷺ in tashahud (Salātul Ibrāhimiyyah)
I only mentioned the acts and sayings that are most likely to be omitted by those who rush their prayers.
ALLĀH says:
Say, ˹O Prophet˺, Shall we inform you of the greatest losers as to their deeds? "˹They are˺ those whose efforts are in vain in this worldly life, while they thought that they were acquiring good by their deeds." {Al-Kahf: 103-104}
Ibn Kathīr (may ALLĀH have mercy on him) commented: "The Ayah is general and refers to everyone who worships ALLĀH in a way that is not acceptable, thinking that he is right in doing that and that his deeds will be accepted, but he is mistaken and his deeds will be rejected..." {Tafsir Ibn Kathīr}
We ask ALLĀH to overlook our shortcomings in acts of worship and aid us in remembering HIM, thanking HIM, and worshipping HIM in the best manner. Aamin

RAMADĀN REFLECTIONS: DAY 2⃣
READING IN THE NAME OF ALLĀH
The emphasis in the command is not just to Read but to 'Read in the name of your Lord'.
Jibrīl commanded the Prophet (ﷺ) to 'Read' three times, but each time he (ﷺ) replied, 'I am not a reader,' until Jibrīl said, 'Read! In the Name of your Lord.'
This signifies reading with the help, guidance, and invocation of the Creator’s name, seeking HIS blessings during and after the act.
We are encouraged to start any activity—whether reading, speaking, or acquiring knowledge—by saying Bismillāh. Beginning a task in the name of ALLĀH serves as a tool for achieving success.
At a deeper level, it reminds us that all knowledge ultimately comes from ALLĀH, it is by HIS permission that we are granted the ability to learn and comprehend. Recognizing this fosters humility, as we acknowledge that our understanding is limited and dependent on HIS will, as the angels acknowledged,
"...we have no knowledge except what YOU have taught us." (2:32)

HOW THE PROPHET (ﷺ) WOULD INFORM OF THE BEGINNING OF RAMADĀN.
RAMADĀN REFLECTIONS: DAY 1⃣
WHY IS THE DESIRE FOR PLEASURE DEEPLY INGRAINED IN HUMMANS
A question that is often asked is why the world and its desires have been glamorized for human beings. If ALLĀH intended for us to attain perfection by avoiding worldly pleasures, why is the desire for these pleasures so deeply ingrained in humans, prompting them to struggle against it?
The answer to this is simple. There would be no merit in staying away from something for which there was no internal inclination. When there is a struggle and challenge there can be a victory. Therefore, true success for a human being lies in overcoming the love of materialism and utilizing what the world offers to achieve success in the Hereafter, as ALLĀH states elsewhere:
"But as for him who feared standing before his Lord, and restrained himself from impure evil desires and lusts. Verily, Paradise will be his abode." (79:40-41)

DO NOT BEGIN FASTING UNTIL THE CRESCENT IS SIGHTED
ALLĀH says: "So whoever sights ˹the crescent of˺ the month, let him fast it." {Al-Baqarah || Verse 185}
Ibn Umar (may ALLĀH be pleased with them) reported: The Prophet ﷺ said, "Do not fast unless you see the crescent (of Ramadān), and do not give up fasting till you see the crescent (of Shawwal), but if the sky is overcast (if you cannot see it), then act on estimation (i.e. count Sha'ban as 30 days)."
In another narration, the Prophet ﷺ said, "If the sky is cloudy for you, then complete the term as thirty days." {al-Bukhari #1807, Muslim #1080}
Ibn ‘Umar said: "The people went out to sight the new moon and I told the Messenger of ALLĀH (ﷺ) that I had seen it, so he fasted and told the people to fast." {Abu Dāwūd #2342}
It was narrated from Ibn 'Umar (may ALLĀH be pleased with him) that the Prophet (ﷺ) said: "We are an unlettered Ummah, we do not use astronomical counting or computation. The month is like this, and this, and this," he did three times, showing it as twenty-nine. {An Nasā'i #2140}
Sheikh Ibn Bāz (may ALLĀH have mercy on him) said: "The Hadiths concerning this matter are numerous and all of them prove that it is obligatory to act according to the sighting or completion of the number of days (in the month as 30) when there is no sighting. Likewise they prove that it is not permissible to rely on calculations for this. Shaykhul-Islam Ibn Taimiyyah mentioned that it is the consensus of the people of knowledge that it is not permissible to rely upon calculations to confirm the new moons. This is the truth concerning which there is no doubt. And ALLĀH is the Giver of success." {Fatāwa Islāmiyah (3/222-224)}
It should be noted that what is obligatory is to fast when the sighting of the moon is confirmed, even if it is seen by only one trustworthy Muslim, as the Prophet (ﷺ) issued orders to fast when a Bedouin testified that he had seen the new moon. Interpreting the verse (2:185) or hadith "Do not fast unless you see the crescent (of Ramadān)" as meaning that no individual should fast until he sees the new moon for himself is incorrect, because the hadīth is telling everyone to fast when the sighting is confirmed, even if only one trustworthy Muslim sees the new moon. Evidence that the sighting of the new moon by one trustworthy, reliable Muslim is sufficient for fasting to be obligatory on all the people is the hadith of Ibn 'Umar in Abu Dāwūd #2342 (mentioned above)
ALLĀH knows best.
5⃣0⃣ QUESTIONS REGARDING THE FAST OF RAMADĀN
~ Albaseerah
VOLUNTARY PRAYERS SEPARATED FROM OBLIGATORY PRAYERS
Mu’awiyyah (may ALLĀH be pleased with him) reported: "When you perform the Friday prayer, do not pray another prayer until you have spoken or left the mosque. The Messenger of ALLĀH (ﷺ) commanded us to do that, to not connect two prayers together unless we have spoken or we have left." {Muslim #883}
Al-Nawawi (may ALLĀH have mercy on him) said,
"In this is evidence for what is said by our scholars, that for regular voluntary prayers and others it is recommended to move them from the place where an obligatory prayer was performed to another place. It is best to move them to one’s house, or else he can move to another place in the mosque or elsewhere, to increase the places where he has performed prostration and to distinguish the performance of voluntary prayers from obligatory prayers."

THE COMMAND TO SEEK SHELTER WITH ALLĀH ALONE
ALLĀH says,
So, flee to ALLĀH!
What is meant is to flee from that which ALLĀH hates, both outwardly and inwardly, to that which HE loves, both outwardly and inwardly, fleeing from ignorance to knowledge, from disbelief to faith, from sin to obedience, and from heedlessness to remembrance of ALLĀH.
Whoever does all of that has done all that religion requires of him; he will be spared all that he fears and he will attain all that he seeks.
ALLĀH describes turning to HIM as fleeing, because turning to anyone other than HIM will result in all kinds of fearful outcomes and troubles, whereas turning to HIM leads to all that one loves, security, joy, happiness and triumph.
You would flee from everyone you fear, except ALLĀH; the more you fear HIM, the more you flee to HIM.
Indeed, I am to you from HIM a clear warner.
That is, I am a warner to you of the punishment of ALLĀH, bringing a clear message of warning.
And do not associate with ALLĀH any other god.
This is part of fleeing to ALLĀH; rather this is the basis of fleeing to HIM, for a person to flee from taking any other god among the idols, rivals, graves and so on, things that are worshipped besides ALLĀH, and devoting his worship, fear, hope, supplication and repentance to his Lord alone.

NEVER GIVE UP ON YOUR CHILDREN!
Never give up on your children, Never!
Undoubtedly you will face tough times with your children – some will face incredible amounts of difficulty.
However through all the pain, the heart ache, the abandonment, you don't get to give up on them.
You don't get to throw them to the wolves and have them left for dead.
You keep protecting them and supporting them.
There are many examples of children who were set aright only because of the love, Du'as and constant reminders of their parents.
You may face a few months of backlash, maybe a few years, maybe decades, but your constant loving reminders and Du'as will help them when the time is right.
You don't guide anyone, not even your own children.
However, the job at hand is still to convey, and to continue conveying until your last breath. The rest we leave to ALLĀH.
Even in the story of Nūh (peace be upon him), you find him pleading with ALLĀH until the last moments, even until after the death of his son. SubḥānAllāh!

IN WHICH WAY DO OUR LIMBS FAST DURING RAMAḌĀN?
Sheikh Bin Bāz said: "The fasting of the limbs is distancing them from that which ALLĀH had prohibited them from.
• The tongue fasts (refrains) from that which ALLĀH has prohibited it from, for example, backbiting, tale-carrying between people, lying and that which is similar to this.
• The hand fasts (refrains) from that which ALLĀH has prohibited it from, for example, stealing, transgression (oppression), aggression and similar to this.
• Also, the foot keeps away from that which ALLĀH has prohibited it from; so it must not proceed and walk towards that which ALLĀH has prohibited.
• Likewise, the stomach should be safeguarded from eating that which is ḥarām; a person must safeguard his stomach from prohibited food.
• And he safeguards his hearing from listening to that which ALLĀH has prohibited, for example, musical instruments, backbiting, tale-carrying and other than this."

WAYS TO FIND SWEETNESS OF THE QUR'ĀN
🎙️ Sheikh Sulayman ar-Ruhayli (may ALLĀH preserve him upon goodness)
To truly be guided by the Qur'an, it's important to understand what we recite. For those of us who can't comprehend Arabic, reading the translation and tafsir can help us reflect on what we have recited. By reflecting on what we have learned and considering how we can apply it to our daily lives, we can realize the true purpose of the Qur'an and use it as guidance.

THE ORDER TO FAST
ALLĀH said:
O believers! Fasting is prescribed for you as it was prescribed for those before you, that you may become pious.
In an address to the believers of this Ummah, ALLĀH ordered them to fast, that is, to abstain from food, drink and sexual activity with the intention of doing so sincerely for ALLĀH the Exalted alone. This is because fasting purifies the souls and cleanses them from the evil that might mix with them and their ill behavior.
ALLĀH mentioned that HE has ordained fasting for Muslims just as HE ordained it for those before them, they being an example for them in that, so they should vigorously perform this obligation more obediently than the previous nations.
{Tafsir Ibn Kathīr}
ALLĀH tells us of the wisdom behind the prescription of fasting, as HE says "that you may become pious".
Fasting is one of the greatest means of developing piety, because it involves obeying the command of ALLĀH and avoiding that which HE has forbidden.
Part of the piety that fasting involves is that the fasting person refrains from that which ALLĀH has forbidden to him of food, drink, intercourse and so on, to which he is naturally inclined, seeking thereby to draw closer to ALLĀH, hoping for HIS reward by giving up these things. This is part of piety. Piety also includes the following:
• The fasting person trains himself to remember that ALLĀH is always watching, so he gives up things that he desires even though they may be available to him, because he knows that ALLĀH is watching him.
• Fasting narrows the pathways of the Shaytan, who flows through the son of Adam like blood. Fasting weakens the Shaytan’s influence and reduces sins.
• The fasting person usually does many acts of worship and obedience, which are characteristics of piety.
• By fasting, the rich man feels the pain of hunger, which makes him inclined to help the poor and destitute. This is also a characteristic of piety.

Think good of ALLĀH, and you will find HIM near.
The Prophet ﷺ taught us that our perception of ALLĀH shapes our experience of HIM. When we trust in HIS mercy, HE showers us with it. When we remember HIM, HE remembers us in a gathering far greater than we can imagine.
So today, let hope fill your heart. Call upon HIM with certainty. Speak of HIM with love. And know that HE is always near, listening, responding, and honoring your remembrance.

WELCOMING THE MONTH OF RAMADĀN
The poet says:
O seeker of goodness, this is a month of honour
Approach with sincerity, may ALLĀH reward you with goodness
Approach with generosity and do not withhold extra deeds
And make your forehead a sign of prostration
Perform obligatory acts as much as you will not be harmed by them
Be generous and recite the Qur’an therein
Guard your tongue when you speak amid chatter
Do not break your fast with words forgetfully
Be truthful in seeking wealth and give some of what you have been given
Your wealth will not decrease if you spend it in goodness.
We ask ALLĀH to help us to observe HIS commands during this blessed month and beyond. Aamīn.

THE VIRTUE OF RAMADĀN AND THE REVELATION OF THE QUR'AN IN IT
ALLĀH says;
Ramadān is the month in which the Qur’an was sent down.
That is, the fast that you are enjoined to observe is the month of Ramadān, the great month in which ALLĀH bestowed the great blessing upon you, namely the Holy Qur’an, which contains guidance to that which is in your best interests in both religious and worldly affairs, explains the truth in the clearest manner, and distinguishes between truth and falsehood, guidance and misguidance, those who are destined for paradise and those who are destined for hell. So it should come as no surprise that a month of such blessings that ALLĀH bestowed upon you should be a season of worship in which fasting is enjoined.
{Tafsir As-Sa'di}
#sadi #baqarah (2:185)
Wathila ibn al-Asqa’ reported: The Messenger of ALLĀH ﷺ said, "The Suhuf of Ibrahim were revealed during the first night of Ramadān. The Torah was revealed during the sixth night of Ramadān. The Injil was revealed during the thirteenth night of Ramadān. ALLĀH revealed the Qur'an on the twenty-fourth night of Ramadān." {Musnad Ahmad #16984}

DO NOT FAST DAYS BEFORE RAMADĀN, UNLESS A ROUTINE
Abu Huraira reported: The Messenger of ALLĀH ﷺ said, "Do not anticipate Ramadān by fasting one or two days before it begins, unless it is part of a man’s fasting routine, so let him fast that day." {Bukhari and Muslim}
Ammar ibn Yasir said: "Whoever fasts on the day concerning which there is doubt has disobeyed Abu’l-Qasim ﷺ." {At-Tirmidhi #686 and An-Nasa'i #2188}
Shaykh Ibn ‘Uthaymin said in his commentary on the hadith: Do not anticipate Ramadān by fasting one or two days before it begins…":
"The scholars differed concerning this prohibition and whether it meant that this is haram or makruh. The correct view is that it means it is haram, especially on the day of doubt." {Sharḥ Riyadhus-Saliḥīn (3/394)}
The day of doubt is the thirtieth of Sha'bān if the new moon cannot be seen because of clouds etc. It is called the day of doubt because it could be the thirtieth of Sha’bān, or it could be the first day of Ramadān.
5⃣0⃣ QUESTIONS REGARDING RAMADĀN
FASTING IN RAMADĀN IS OBLIGATORY; PRAYING 5 TIMES A DAY EVERY DAY IS ALSO OBLIGATORY
Prayer is the second most important pillar of Islam and the most regular compulsory action in a Muslim's life. It is the one act that must be fulfilled at least five times a day, regardless of the circumstance. In fact, ALLĀH did not even exempt the Muslims from praying during the battle! HE says: "And when you (O Prophet) are among them and lead them in prayer, let a group of them stand ˹in prayer˺ with you and let them carry their arms." (4:102)
Despite the importance of prayer, it is a sad fact that many Muslims do not offer prayer or fulfil the conditions of prayer.
The Prophet ﷺ said: "The first thing for which a person will be brought to account on the Day of Resurrection will be his prayer. If it is sound, he will be successful, and if it is lacking in any way, he will be doomed." {An-Nasa'i #465}
This Hadith points to the fact that there is no success for the one who does not establish the prayer.

EVALUATE YOUR PREVIOUS RAMADĀN AND SET GOALS FOR THIS YEAR'S
Two days of a believer's life should not be the same, just like each day should be better than the previous one. Similarly, two Ramadāns should not be alike.
The believers are racing toward Paradise, as ALLĀH says: "Race with one another in hastening towards forgiveness from your Lord, and Paradise..." (57:21)
They are always trying to have today better than yesterday.
They want to keep increasing in piety and good deeds.
They try to devote more time, energy, and resources with each passing day to win ALLĀH’s pleasure.
They want their inner self to be better today than it was yesterday and their tomorrow to be better than today.
They don’t want to repeat their mistakes; they learn from their experiences and try to purify their hearts and their intentions to make them better all the time.
Thus, a believer's two days are not equal, similarly, two Ramadāns should not be equal.

BENEFIT 14: REGARDING MENSTRUATION DURING RAMADĀN
ISSUES RELATED TO MENSTRUATION AND FASTING (¹)
● If she (the woman) becomes pure (finishes menstruation) during the day: She continues her non-fasting state, meaning she can eat and drink. If her husband returns from travel while not fasting, he is allowed to have marital relations with her. She is not required to abstain for the rest of the day with the intention of fasting.
● If she becomes pure before Fajr: If she intends to fast, her fast is valid even if she delays taking a ritual bath (ghusl) until after Fajr. This is the opinion of the majority of scholars.
● Can a Woman Take Medication to Stop Menstruation in Ramadān?
Menstruation is something that ALLĀH has decreed for the daughters of Adam. Women during the time of the Messenger of ALLĀH ﷺ did not go to such lengths to complete the fast of Ramadān, and therefore, it is not recommended.
However, if she takes it—and it does not harm her—then there is no problem. If she takes it and her bleeding stops, she takes the ruling of a pure woman; she fasts, and she does not need to make up those fasts. And ALLĀH knows best.
● A woman experiencing istihādah (irregular bleeding) does not refrain from fasting: or prayer; rather, both are obligatory upon her by consensus of the scholars.
