GIVING SALAM UPON ENTERING HOUSE

ALLĀH says,

But when you enter houses, give greetings of Salam upon each other - a greeting from ALLĀH, blessed and good.

Abu Jabir bin Abdullāh said (regarding the above verse),

"I do not think it is anything but obligatory."

Mujahid said:

"And when you enter the Masjid, say: Peace be upon the Messenger of ALLĀH;

When you enter upon your families, greet them with Salam;

And when you enter a house in which there is nobody, say: As-Salamu 'Alayna wa 'Ala Ibadillāhis-Salihin (peace be upon us and upon the righteous servants of ALLĀH).

This is what one is commanded to do, and it has been narrated to us that the angels will return his greeting."

{Tafsi‌r Ibn Kathīr}

Anas bin Malik reported: The Prophet ﷺ said to me, "Dear son, when you enter your house, say As-Salamu 'Alaikum to your family, for it will be a blessing both to you and to your family.'' {Tirmidhi}

NONE CAN WITHHOLD THE MERCY OF ALLĀH

ALLĀH tells,

Whatever ALLĀH grants to people of mercy - none can withhold it; And whatever HE withholds, none but HIM can grant it.

ALLĀH tells us that HE alone has control and gives and withholds as HE wills.

This leads to putting one’s trust in ALLĀH and feeling one’s need for HIM in all ways, so that one does not call upon anyone but HIM and does not fear or put hope in anyone but HIM.

THE ORDER TO WORSHIP ALLĀH ALONE AND TO BE DUTIFUL TO PARENTS

ALLĀH says;

Worship ALLĀH and associate nothing with HIM

ALLĀH orders that HE be worshipped Alone without partners, because HE Alone is the Creator and Sustainer Who sends HIS favors and bounties on HIS creation in all situations and instances. Therefore HE deserves to be singled out, without associating anything or anyone from HIS creation with HIM in worship.

Indeed, the Prophet ﷺ said to Muadh,

"Do you know what ALLĀH'S right on HIS servants is?

Mu
adh replied, "ALLĀH and HIS Messenger know better."

He ﷺ said:
"That they should worship HIM and should not worship any others with HIM."

The Prophet then said:
"Do you know what the right of the servants on ALLĀH is if they do this HE should not punish them."

{Tafsi‌r Ibn Kathir}

and to parents do good,

That is, treat them kindly and speak decent words to them, addressing them gently, doing good deeds for them, obeying their instructions, avoiding what they forbid you to do, spending on them, honouring anyone who has a connection to them, and upholding ties of kinship, for you have no ties of kinship except through them.

Kindness has two opposites, bad treatment and failure to show kindness. Both are forbidden.

SPENDING EVERY MOMENT IN OBEDIENCE TO ALLĀH

Abdul-Malik Al-Qasim said,

We are living a life in which ALLĀH ﷻ bestows on us HIS Favors day and night, but we are wasting our life in other than what we were created for. This is why when death comes all of a sudden, some will beg of ALLĀH,

“My Lord! Send me back." [Al-Mu'minūn: 99].

But, why should you go back and return?

“So that I may do good in that which I have left behind!” [al-Mu'minūn:100].

That Day has not come yet. Therefore, why do you not perform good deeds while able to do so and while healthy, since the Angel of Death has not come to you yet?

BEING KIND TO DEBTORS WHO FACE FINANCIAL DIFFICULTIES

ALLĀH commands creditors to be patient with debtors who are having a hard time financially,

(And If it is difficult for someone to repay a debt, postpone it until a time of ease.)

During the time of Jahiliyyah, when the debt came to term, the creditor would say to the debtor, "Either pay now or interest will be added to the debt."

ALLĀH encouraged creditors to give debtors respite regarding their debts and promised all that is good, and a great reward from HIM for this righteous deed,

(And if you waive it as an act of charity, it will be better for you, if only you knew.),

meaning, if you forfeit your debts and cancel them completely.

Imam Ahmad recorded that Sulayman bin Buraydah said that his father said,

'I heard the Messenger of ALLĀH ﷺ say,

"Whoever gives time to a debtor facing hard times, will gain charity of equal proportions for each day he gives."'...

Ahmad recorded that Muhammad bin Kab Al-Qurazi said that;

Abu Qatadah had a debt on a man, who used to hide from Abu Qatadah when he looked for him to pay what he owed him. One day, Abu Qatadah came looking for the debtor and a young boy came out, and he asked him about the debtor and found out that he was in the house eating.

Abu Qatadah said in a loud voice, "O Fellow! Come out, for I was told that you are in the house."

The man came out and Abu Qatadah asked him, "Why are you hiding from me?"

The man said, "I am having a hard time financially, and I do not have any money."

Abu Qatadah said, "By ALLĀH, are you truly facing a hard time?"

He said, "Yes."

Abu Qatadah cried and said, "I heard the Messenger of ALLĀH ﷺ say,

"Whoever gives time to his debtor, or forgives the debt, will be in the shade of the Throne (of ALLĀH) on the Day of Resurrection."

Muslim also recorded this Hadith in his Sahih.

Al-Hafiz Abu Yala Al-Mawsili recorded that Hudhayfah said that the Messenger of ALLĀH ﷺ said,

"On the Day of Resurrection, one of ALLAH'S servants will be summoned before HIM and HE will ask him, "What deeds did you perform for ME in your life?"

He will say, "O Lord! In my life, I have not performed a deed for YOUR sake that equals an atom," three times.

The third time, the servant will add, "O Lord! You granted me wealth and I used to be a merchant. I used to be lenient, giving easy terms to those well-off and giving time to the debtors who faced hard times."

ALLĀH will say, "I Am the Most Worthy of giving easy terms. Therefore, enter Paradise."

Those will be awarded the Chamber for what they patiently endured, and they will be received therein with greetings and [words of] peace,

Abiding eternally therein. Good is the settlement and residence.

(Al-Furqân 25:75-76)

For all these character traits and attributes, they will be rewarded with high places in Jannah. They will be rewarded for their patience and steadfastness. That is because every single trait mentioned in the previous episodes requires patience, massive patience. From being patient with people, to spending moderately, to guarding the chastity, to not engaging in idle talk, to spending the night prostrating to their Lord (ﷻ), all of them require patience and endurance. It is not easy to maintain them to the point where they become personal character traits.

They will be received with greetings and peace, and they will abide therein eternally. In the end, all their patience and steadfastness will take them to the eternal abode that no eyes have ever seen and no imagination can fitfully describe it.

By this we come to the end of the series of The Servants of The Most Merciful, we pray and hope every single reader attains the most benefit of the series, apply it to our routines till it becomes a trait, and be able to preach it to others not just by speech but by our actions.

May Allāh (ﷻ) bless us with the attributes of His beloved Servants and make its application an easy one.

RAISING CHILDREN ON GOOD MORALITY

A child is a trust in the hands of his parents and his heart is a pure vessel that may be filled with both good and evil. Muslim parents should make their children used to good morals from the very beginning of their lifetime.

A father should inculcate good morality in his child in all’ aspects of life: in eating, drinking, clothing, speaking, and contacting with the others in general, etc. He should teach him the Qur’an, the Sunnah, and stories of the pious people, so that he can learn good morality through practical examples and learn to love and respect the people of righteousness and piety.

A father should reward and praise his child for every praiseworthy act he does. This is apt to encourage him to keep steadfast in the way of goodness. However, if the child commits some mistake, it is not necessary to punish him in the first time, but if he repeats it he may be blamed, but privately.

A child should be prevented from sleeping during the daytime because it leads to sloth and inactivity. For the same reason, he should be familiarized with exercise and action.

He should be prevented from doing certain blameworthy acts, which are widespread among ill-raised children, such as spitting and yawning in the presence of others, talkativeness, indecent words and impolite expressions, and the like. He should also be taught how to obey and respect his parents and teachers.

Sahl ibn Abdillah reported that when he was only three years old his maternal uncle, Muhammad ibn Suwar, taught him how to mention ALLĀH in his heart, by saying the following words without pronouncing them factually, “ALLĀH is with me; ALLĀH is looking at me; ALLĀH is witnessing my actions!” Sahl’s uncle told him to say these words repeatedly every day, always in the same way. Sahl said he did so and in a short time he began to feel a special kind of sweetness stimulated by the repetition of these words. From them he learned how to be conscious of ALLĀH all the time and this helped him to be a good worshiper of ALLĀH throughout his lifetime.

Whoever witnesses the Hereafter through his heart and by means of certainty, his attention becomes entirely attached to it and he pays no attention to worldly life and its pleasures. Anyone who experiences this certainty-based witnessing of the Hereafter should exert his effort to keep on straightly in his way to it. Still, this requires that he should fulfill three conditions: to abandon wrongdoing completely, to seek a well-versed scholar to be his guide in the way lest devils should distract him from it, and to adhere to privacy (in matters of worship).

This is a brief account of the method that should be applied by those who seek the Hereafter.

1️⃣4️⃣- THEY PRAY FOR RIGHTEOUS SPOUSES AND OFFSPRING

And those who say, "Our Lord, grant us from among our spouses and offspring comfort to our eyes and make us a leader [i.e., example] for the righteous."

(Al-Furqân 25:74)

They acknowledge that a righteous spouse influences their happiness and ibaadah in the Dunya and the Ākhirah. A righteous partner is part of the enjoyment of the Dunya, for their presence lead to tranquility and peace. Allāh (ﷻ) says in Surah ar-Rûm:

وَمِنْ ءَايَٰتِهِۦٓ أَنْ خَلَقَ لَكُم مِّنْ أَنفُسِكُمْ أَزْوَٰجًا لِّتَسْكُنُوٓا۟ إِلَيْهَا وَجَعَلَ بَيْنَكُم مَّوَدَّةً وَرَحْمَةًۚ إِنَّ فِى ذَٰلِكَ لَءَايَٰتٍ لِّقَوْمٍ يَتَفَكَّرُونَ

And of His signs is that He created for you from yourselves mates that you may find tranquility in them; and He placed between you affection and mercy. Indeed, in that are signs for a people who give thought.

(Ar-Rûm 30:21)

They also pray for righteous offspring, who will bring them joy in this Dunya and the Ākhirah, while striving for the sake of Allāh (ﷻ). The righteous offspring is an ongoing deed, after the death of the Servant of Allāh (ﷻ).

Abu Qatadah (رضي الله عنه) reported: The Messenger of Allāh, (ﷺ), said, “The best of what a man leaves behind are three: a righteous child who supplicates for him, ongoing charity the reward of which reaches him, and knowledge that is acted upon after him.”

(Sunan Ibn Ma‌jah 237)

It is very important to supplicate righteous offspring, because they are worthy investments in both worlds.

Abu Huraira (رضي الله عنه) reported: The Messenger of Allāh, (ﷺ), said, “Verily, Allāh Almighty will raise the status of his righteous servants in Paradise and they will say: O Lord, what is this? Allāh will say: This is due to your child seeking forgiveness for you.”

(Musnad Ah‌mad 10611)

Our Lord, grant us from among our spouses and offspring comfort to our eyes and make us a leader for the righteous.

THREE PEOPLE ALLĀH WILL NOT TALK TO NOR PURIFY

Abu Hurairah (May ALLĀH be pleased with him) reported:

The Messenger of ALLĀH ﷺ said, "There are three (types of) people to whom ALLĀH will not speak on the Day of Resurrection, nor will HE purify them, nor look at them, and they will have a painful punishment. These are: An aged man who commits Zina (illicit sexual act), a ruler who lies, and a proud poor person.'' {Muslim}

{Riyadhus-Saliheen: Book 1, Chapter 72, Hadith 617}

COMMENTARY:
Here "will not speak'' means HE will not say something which will please them, not to talk happily and willingly.

Adultery is forbidden to everybody, whether young or old. But it is more condemnable if an old man commits it, because to be guilty of such a detestable act in old age shows that the adulterer has become hardened in sin and his heart is free from the fear of ALLĀH.

Lying is forbidden to everybody. But it is particularly vicious in case of a king or head of state. Since he possesses all powers and resources, he has little reason to tell a lie. Hence, if in spite of all this he invents a lie, it will betray his vicious mind and lack of God-consciousness.

Similarly, all humans are prohibited from giving vent to pride and arrogance. But if a beggar or destitute, who has no reason to claim dignity and superiority, displays arrogance, it will be a convincing proof of his indifference to the fear of ALLĀH and Shari'ah rules. From this point of view, his arrogance is more abominable and disgusting than that of a wealthy man.

1️⃣3️⃣- THEY DO NOT TURN A DEAF EAR OR A BLIND EYE WHEN REMINDED OF THE REVELATION OF THEIR LORD

And those who, when reminded of the verses of their Lord, do not fall upon them deaf and blind.

(Al-Furqân 25:73)

They are ever ready and always eager to hear and be reminded of the revelation of their Lord (ﷻ). Allāh (ﷻ) describes them in Surah Al-Anfâl:

إِنَّمَا ٱلْمُؤْمِنُونَ ٱلَّذِينَ إِذَا ذُكِرَ ٱللَّهُ وَجِلَتْ قُلُوبُهُمْ وَإِذَا تُلِيَتْ عَلَيْهِمْ ءَايَٰتُهُۥ زَادَتْهُمْ إِيمَٰنًا وَعَلَىٰ رَبِّهِمْ يَتَوَكَّلُونَ

The believers are only those who, when Allāh is mentioned, their hearts become fearful, and when His verses are recited to them, it increases them in faith; and upon their Lord they rely –

(Al-Anfaâl 8:2)

- They become eager to submit and obey, while being fearful and reliant on their Lord (ﷻ).

- They do not ignore or take the revelation of their Lord (ﷻ) for granted.

- They do not become defensive or take offense when reminded.

- They do not feel pressured or threatened when reminded.

- To them, reminding them about their Lord (ﷻ) makes you dear to them, a brother, a companion, a Musk seller.

- They are proud to have people who remind them, because that shows they are loved.

They adopt the "we hear and we obey" mindset, as is expected of a Believer.

May Allāh (ﷻ) bless us with total submission to Him.

EPISODE 1️⃣ 1️⃣ - THE ELEVENTH AND TWELFTH ATTRIBUTE

1️⃣1️⃣- THEY DO NOT WITNESS FALSEHOOD

And [they are] those who do not testify to falsehood, and when they pass near ill speech, they pass by with dignity.

(Al-Furqân 25:72)

They do not give false testimony. This is a major sin, and a very sensitive one, because it may lead to withholding the rights and honor of an innocent.

Anas ibn Malik (رضي الله عنه) reported: The Prophet, (ﷺ), said regarding the major sins, “They are associating idols with Allāh, disobedience to parents, killing a person, and false testimony.”

(Sahih Bukha‌ri‌ 5632)

It signifies deceit, lies and harming (emotionally or physically) the one who was testified against.
The Servants of the Most Merciful do not give false testimony because they know it is a major sin, and will affect their worship.

1️⃣2️⃣- THEY DO NOT ENGAGE IN IDLE TALK

They do not engage in idle chatter (void of the remembrance of Allāh (ﷻ)) and they do not attend congregations in which the remembrance of Allāh (ﷻ) is not observed. They do not engage in discussions which contain lies and do not attend gatherings where sins are committed.

Idle talk ranges from aimless chatters, to backbiting, and everything between these two. In essence, it is any talk, discussion or gathering that does not involve the remembrance of Allāh (ﷻ).

Abu Huraira (رضي الله عنه) reported: The Messenger of Allāh, (ﷺ), said:
No people sit in a gathering without remembering Allāh or sending blessings upon their Prophet except that they will earn the displeasure of Allāh. If He wishes He will punish them, or if He wishes He will forgive them.

(Sunan At-Tirmidhi 3380)

The Servants of the Most Merciful do not engage in idle talk because, they know, exactly how it is an absolute waste of time. They know it does not benefit their Dunya or Ākhirah, so they avoid them.

It is very easy to get drawn to circles where the remembrance of Allāh (ﷻ) is not observed, and that is because, the things which are good for us in the long run, require great discipline.

May Allāh (ﷻ) make it easy for us to remember Him.

JUMMU'AH REMINDER

O you who have believed, when [the adhān} is called for the prayer on the day of Jumuʿah [Friday], then proceed to the remembrance of ALLĀH and leave trade. That is better for you, if you only knew.

[Surah Al-Jumuʿah: 9]

The Messenger of ALLĀH ﷺ said,

"He who takes a bath on Friday, like the bath for ceremonial purity, and then goes (to the mosque), he is like one who offers a camel as a sacrifice to seek the Pleasure of ALLĀH; and he who comes at the second hour is like one who offers a cow to win the Pleasure of ALLĀH; and he who comes at the third hour is like one who offers a ram with horns (in sacrifice); and he who comes at the fourth hour is like one who offers a hen; and he who comes at the fifth hour is like one who offers an egg. And when the Imam ascends the pulpit, the angels (who write the names of those who come to the mosque before the coming of the Imam) close (their record) in order to listen to the Khutbah.''

[Al-Bukhari and Muslim]

SENDING ṢALĀH UPON THE PROPHET ﷺ

The Messenger of ALLĀH ﷺ said “Increase your supplications for me on the day and night of Friday. Whoever sends blessings on me once, ALLĀH will bless him ten times.”

{Sunan al-Kubrá: no. 5854}.

One can say any of the following:

اللَّهُمَّ صَلِّ عَلَى مُحَمَّدٍ

Allāhumma salli ala Muhammadin.

O ALLĀH, exalt the mention of Muhammad.

➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖

SHIRK SHALL NOT BE FORGIVEN

ALLĀH says,

Indeed, ALLAH does not forgive association with HIM,

This verse tells us that ALLĀH will not forgive the sin of ascribing partners to HIM, because this is a grave insult to the Lord of the worlds and a denial of HIS oneness; it implies regarding the created being who possesses no power to ward off harm from, or benefit, himself as equal to the One Who is in control and possesses the power to bring benefit or cause harm, the only One from Whom blessings come, and no one can ward off harm but HE; HE is utterly perfect in all aspects and completely independent of all needs.

One of the gravest kinds of wrongdoing and misguidance is not devoting worship to the One Who is like that and is so great, and directing any kind of devotion to a created being, who possesses none of the attributes of perfection or independence, and in fact without ALLĀH is nothing, for he would not exist; he is imperfect, lacks independence and is in need in all respects.

But HE forgives what is less than that for whom HE wills.

Sins that are less than ascribing partners to ALLĀH are subject to the divine will. If ALLĀH wills, HE will forgive them by HIS mercy and wisdom, and if HE wills, HE will punish for them by HIS justice and wisdom.

JUMMU'AH REMINDER AND SUNNAH PRAYER AFTER JUMU'AH

O you who have believed, when [the adhān} is called for the prayer on the day of Jumuʿah [Friday], then proceed to the remembrance of ALLĀH and leave trade. That is better for you, if you only knew.

[Surah Al-Jumuʿah: 9]

SUNNAH PRAYER AFTER JUMU'AH PRAYER

Abdullah bin 'Umar (May ALLĀH be pleased with them) reported: I performed along with the Prophet ﷺ two Rak'ah (Sunnah prayer) after the Jumu'ah prayer.

[Al-Bukhari and Muslim].

Abu Hurairah (May Allah be pleased with him) reported: The Messenger of ALLĀH ﷺ said, "If anyone of you performs the Friday prayer, he should perform four Rak'ah (Sunnah) after it.''

[Muslim].

Ibn 'Umar (May ALLĀH be pleased with them) reported: The Prophet ﷺ would not perform any Salat (in the mosque) after the Friday prayer till he had returned to his house. He would then perform two Rak'ah there.

[Muslim].

{Riyadhus-Saliheen: Hadith 1125, 1226 & 1127}

COMMENTARY:

In one Hadith, there is mention of four Rak'ah, while in the other it is mentioned as two Rak'ah. It can be deduced that both of these are acceptable. 'Ulama' are of the opinion that one who performs them in the mosque, should perform four Rak'ah; whereas the one performing them at home, should perform two Rak'ah with one Taslim. It is better to perform them in twos as the Prophet ﷺ is reported to have said, "Perform the Nawafil of the day and night in twos.'' {Al-Bukhari}.

Do you not see that to Allāh bow down ˹in submission˺ all those in the heavens and all those on the earth, as well as the sun, the moon, the stars, the mountains, the trees, and ˹all˺ living beings, as well as many humans, while many are deserving of punishment. And whoever Allāh disgraces, none can honour. Surely Allāh does what He wills.

[Al-Ḥajj 22: 18]

Subhanallah! He is the one who is worshipped by everything whether we see it or not whether mankind chooses to prostrate or not. Allāh (ﷻ) says in another verse:

وَلِلَّهِۤ يَسۡجُدُۤ مَن فِي ٱلسَّمَٰوَٰتِ وَٱلۡأَرۡضِ طَوۡعٗا وَكَرۡهٗا وَظِلَٰلُهُم بِٱلۡغُدُوِّ وَٱلۡأٓصَالِ۩

To Allāh ˹alone˺ bow down ˹in submission˺ all those in the heavens and the earth—willingly or unwillingly—as do their shadows, morning and evening
.

[Ar-Raʿd 13:15]

How majestic is He (subhanallaah), He is the one who is worshipped by all, whether in earth or in the heavens.

The Prophet (ﷺ) said:
“Indeed I see what you do not see. The sky is creaking, and it has every right to creak: there is not even the space of four fingers (in the sky), except that there is an angel who has lowered his head in prostration to Allāh”

(At-Tirmidhi 2312)

Some of the scholars also say the name comes from a root word 'Aliha (أَلِهَ)' meaning to be dazzled whether due to extreme happiness/grief. No words can explain His majesty and no mind can encompass His perfection for those who know Allāh. Allāh (ﷻ) says:

they cannot encompass Him in ˹their˺ knowledge.

[Ṭā-Hā 20:110]

No vision can encompass Him, but He encompasses all vision. For He is the Most Subtle, All-Aware.

[Al-An'ām 6:103]

Allāh is the one who bedazzles, in amazement and in awe for the ones who know Him. The ones who don't know Him also are dazzled in anguish, and misery. Because we need Him in life more than food and oxygen for every second in our days.

Another meaning of the name Allāh is to seek refuge, which originates from the root word 'Aliha (أًلِهَ)'. When you say لا إله الّا اللّه, it indicates you have no other option except to turn to Allāh, and it's one of the most reassuring facts to realise that your shelter is in Allāh (ﷻ). Who else forgives crimes, who else saves humanity from Shayateen, who else defends orphans and grants them rizq but Him.

Sometimes Allāh puts us through trials to help us appreciate this magnificent name. He is Allāh, the greatest shelter for believers, a name that is realised and cherished when there is trouble in our life and all ropes are severed and only one remains, Allāh's rope. So we seek sanctuary, plead for assistance, and beg pardon from turning to others than Him. And at this point, we find a completely new degree of imaan and an unrivalled commitment to Allāh, all of which become more valuable than the resolution of the problem itself.

May Allāh (ﷻ) guide us to understand His religion.

DEVIL'S DECEPTION OF PEOPLE  BY GIVING THEM HIGH HOPE (OF LIVING  LONG).

Many Jews and Christians contemplated joining Islam, but Iblis convinced them to procrastinate saying: “Do not rush, look more into the issue.” Until they die as non Muslims.

He also causes the sinner to procrastinate seeking repentance. A poet said: “Do not rush into committing a sin, and then procrastinate repenting.”

Iblis makes those seeking righteousness feel lazy, and he causes those who are serious to procrastinate. He convinces a jurist to rest instead of going over his lesson again. And convinces a worshipper who had woken up to pray at night that he still has a lot of time.

Iblis tries to make people lazy procrastinators, and to make them have hope (of along life). A disciplined person must take advantage of time, and never procrastinate. That which is feared can never be trusted, and that which passes can never be brought back again.

The main reason for doing less good and more evil is relying on the hope of a long life, this is because a person continues to procrastinate performing good deeds and refraining from evil deeds.

He who hopes to wake up in the morning will not do much at night, and he who hopes to travel during the day will travel much at night. However, he who sees death to be near works hard during his life. Allaah’s Messenger (ﷺ) said: “Perform prayer as if you were departing.”

Some of the Salaf said: “Beware of procrastination, for it is one of devil’s strongest weapons.”

A disciplined person prepares for his journey, while a procrastinator doesn’t. So when it comes time to travel the disciplined person feels happy while the procrastinator feels that he is in trouble. This is how people are. Some are alert, so when the Angel of Death comes they do not feel guilty. Others are not disciplined, so they feel the agony when it comes time to travel.

If procrastination is part of your nature then repelling it becomes difficult. But when one knows that he has a persistant enemy he will always be on guard.

We ask Allaah (سبحانه وتعالى) to give us safety from the enemy’s cunning, the devil’s fitnah's and the evils of ourselves and the dunya. Indeed HE is near and responsive.

Until when death approaches any of them, he says, “My Lord! Let me go back,

That I might do good in that which I left behind. No! It is only a word he is saying; and behind them is al-Barzakh until the Day they are resurrected.

Then, when the Trumpet will be blown, there will be no kinship between them on that Day, nor will they ask about one another.

As for those whose scale is heavy ˹with good deeds˺, it is they who will be successful.

But those whose scale is light, they will have doomed themselves, staying in Hell forever.

The Fire will sear their faces, and they therein will have taut smiles (i.e. their lips have been contracted by scorching until the teeth are exposed).

STERN WARNING AGAINST REVEALING MARITAL SECRET

Abu Sa'id Al-Khudri (may ALLĀH be pleased with him) reported:

The Prophet ﷺ said, "The most evil of the people to ALLĀH on the Day of Resurrection will be the man who consorts with his wife and then publicizes her secret.'' [Muslim].

[Riyadh us-Saliheen: Book 2, Chapter 85, Hadith 685]

COMMENTARY:
Islam treats conjugal union as a sacred and secret act, both in social and moral terms. Indeed, the sanctity of conjugal rights contributes to the consolidation of moral norms and social cohesion. Yet, what passes between wife and husband on the consummation night is usually taken in a light vein in our societies. In the morning, both of them relate their sexual experience to their friends respectively. This is moral indecency which is incompatible with human dignity and civilized behaviour. This Hadith reckons it as a grave sin which must be eschewed. The bed-experience must be kept private by the married couple to the exclusion of a third person.

THE SERVANT IS TESTED WITH OTHERS

As for wealth and poverty, these are trials that ALLĀH decrees for a reason, as HE says:

وَجَعَلۡنَا بَعۡضَكُمۡ لِبَعۡضٍ فِتۡنَةً
WE have made some of you as a trial for others

The Messenger ﷺ is a trial for those to whom he is sent, a test to see who will obey and who will disobey, and We test the Messengers by giving them the mission of calling people. The rich man is a trial for the poor man, and the poor man is a trial for the rich man - and so on, with all types of people in this world, which is the realm of trials and tests. The purpose of that test is to see:

أَتَصۡبِرُونَۗ
Will you have patience?

And do what you are supposed to do, in which case your Lord will reward you, or will you fail to be patient and thus deserve the punishment?

FASTING AL-AYYAM AL-BEED (THE WHITE DAYS) FOR JUMADAL AKHIRAH 1445H

The white days of the month refer to the 13th, 14th, and 15th of each lunar month. The moon is at its fullest and most luminous during this period. Fasting on these days (Al-Ayyam Al-Beed) is sunnah, mentioned in various hadith.

The Messenger of ALLĀH ﷺ said: "Fasting three days of each month is equivalent to fasting for a lifetime. The days of al-beed (white days) are the 13th, 14th & 15th." [Sunan an-Nasai]

ALLAH'S Messenger ﷺ said: "It is sufficient for you to fast three days every month because, for every good deed, you will have (the reward of) ten like it, so that will be like fasting for a lifetime." [Sahih al-Bukhari]

Fasting Dates:

26th, 27th, and 28th December in Saudi Arabia, UAE, Qatar, Kuwait, Maldives, Egypt, Turkey, Egypt, USA, Canada, Germany, Norway, and others.

THE COMMAND TO PRAY, GIVE THE ZAKAH AND OBEY THE MESSENGER ﷺ.

And establish prayer and give zakāh

Here ALLĀH enjoins establishing prayer with all of its essential parts, conditions and etiquette, both outwardly and inwardly, and the giving of zakah from the wealth that ALLĀH has entrusted to HIS slaves and given to them, by giving it to the poor and others whom ALLĀH has designated as recipients of zakah. These two are the greatest and most virtuous acts of worship, in which are combined the fulfilment of duties towards ALLĀH and towards HIS creation, in which the individual shows devotion to ALLĀH and shows kindness to people. That is followed by a general command:

وَأَطِيعُوا الرَّسُولَ
and obey the Messenger

by complying with what he enjoins and refraining from what he forbids.

Whoever obeys the Messenger has obeyed ALLĀH... {An-Nisāʾ: 80}

If you do this (i.e obey the Messenger ﷺ)

that you may receive mercy.

Whoever seeks mercy, this is the way to attain it. Whoever hopes to find mercy without establishing prayer, giving zakâh and obeying the Messenger ﷺ is indulging in wishful thinking and is lying; his nafs has made him feel content with wishful thinking.

ENTERING ISLĀM IN ITS ENTIRETY IS OBLIGATED

ALLĀH says,

O Believers! Enter into Islām completely

That is, adhering to all the teachings of Islam and not ignoring any of them, and they should not be among those who take their own desires as a god, who follow the command if it is in accordance with their whims and desires, otherwise they do not do so.

Rather what is required is to make one’s inclinations in accordance with religious teaching and to do everything that one is able to do of good; whatever he is unable to do, he will have the intention of doing it (if he were able to), and by virtue of his intention he will attain reward.

They say, The Most Merciful has taken ˹for HIMSELF˺ a son.

You have certainly made an outrageous claim,

By which the heavens are about to burst, the earth to split apart, and the mountains to crumble to pieces,

That they attribute to the Most Merciful a son.

It does not befit ˹the majesty of˺ the Most Merciful to have a son.

There is no one in the heavens and earth but that he comes to the Most Merciful as a servant.

Indeed, HE fully knows them and has counted them precisely.

And all of them are coming to HIM on the Day of Resurrection alone.

THE MATTER OF GREAT CONCERN

And to warn those who say, "ALLĀH has taken a son."

"Namely the Jews, Christians and polytheists who utter such monstrous words." {Tafsi‌r As-Sa'di}

Sadly, today Muslims now celebrate what they are to WARN AGAINST with those they are commanded to WARN.

Do such people not think that they will be resurrected

for a tremendous Day

The Day when mankind will stand before the Lord of the worlds?"

{Al-mutaffifīn: 4-6}

You want to please people who are reviling ALLĀH?!

You want to please people about whom ALLĀH said that they will never be pleased with you till you follow their religion?!

You know that ascribing a son to ALLĀH is far worse than a man fornicating with his mother, yet it does not bother you?!

Is it not the situation where you need to say to them: ❝To you is your religion and to me is mine❞?!

Think before you wish the disbelievers on their pagan festivities:

Abu Hurairah (May ALLĀH be pleased with him) reported:

I heard the Prophet ﷺ saying: “A person utters a word thoughtlessly (i.e., without thinking about its being good or not) and, as a result of this, he will fall down into the fire of Hell deeper than the distance between the east and the west.”

{Bukhari and Muslim}

May ALLĀH grant us the understanding.

THE COMMAND TO RETURN THE TRUSTS TO WHOMEVER THEY ARE DUE

ALLĀH says;

Indeed, ALLĀH commands you to return trusts to their rightful owners

ALLĀH commands that the trusts be returned to their rightful owners.

Al-Hasan narrated that Samurah said that the Messenger of ALLĀH ﷺ said,

"Return the trust to those who entrusted you, and do not betray those who betrayed you."

Imam Ahmad and the collectors of Sunan recorded this Hadith.

This command refers to all things that one is expected to look after, such as ALLAH'S rights on HIS servants: praying, Zakah, fasting, penalties for sins, vows and so forth.

The command also includes the rights of the servants on each other, such as what they entrust each other with, including the cases that are not recorded or documented.

ALLĀH commands that all types of trusts be fulfilled. Those who do not implement this command in this life, it will be extracted from them on the Day of Resurrection.

It is recorded in the Sahih that the Messenger of ALLĀH ﷺ said,

"The rights will be rendered back to those to whom they are due, and even the sheep that does not have horns will take revenge from the horned sheep."

1️⃣0️⃣- THEY REPENT, BELIEVE AND PERFORM RIGHTEOUS DEEDS.

Except for those who repent, believe and do righteous work. For them Allāh will replace their evil deeds with good. And ever is Allāh Forgiving and Merciful.

(Al-Furqân 25:70)

Allāh (ﷻ) mentions forgiveness in many verses. From amongst them are:

And those who, when they commit an immorality or wrong themselves [by transgression], remember Allāh and seek forgiveness for their sins – and who can forgive sins except Allāh? – and [who] do not persist in what they have done while they know.

(Aal-e-Imrân 3:135)

The repentance accepted by Allāh is only for those who do wrong in ignorance [or carelessness] and then repent soon [after]. It is those to whom Allāh will turn in forgiveness, and Allāh is ever Knowing and Wise.

(An-Nisâ' 4:17)

And in the hadith;
Abu Hurairah (رضي الله عنه) said:
The Messenger of Allāh (ﷺ) said, "By the One in Whose Hand my soul is! If you do not commit sins, Allāh would replace you with a people who would commit sins and seek forgiveness from Allāh; and Allāh will certainly forgive them."

(Riyad as-Salihin 1871)

Anas (رضي الله عنه) said:
I heard the Messenger of Allāh (ﷺ) saying, "Allāh, the Exalted, has said: 'O son of Adam! I shall go on forgiving you so long as you pray to Me and aspire for My forgiveness whatever may be your sins. O son of Adam! I do not care even if your sins should pile up to the sky and should you beg pardon of Me, I would forgive you. O son of Adam! If you come to Me with an earthful of sins and meet Me, not associating anything with Me in worship, I will certainly grant you as much pardon as will fill the earth."

(Riyad as-Salihin 1878)

All these just indicate that Allāh (ﷻ) loves those who repent. Allāh (ﷻ) wants us to turn back to Him at any point we lose ourselves. And so, the Servants of the Most Merciful are very keen on seeking forgiveness when they commit a sin. They make a firm commitment to stay away from that sin and follow it up with a good deed. These are the steps to a sincere repentance.

There are many supplications for forgiveness observed by the Messenger of Allāh (ﷺ) and were documented. From them is the Sayyid Al- istighfaar:

O Allāh, You are my Lord, none has the right to be worshiped except You, You created me and I am Your servant and I abide to Your covenant and promise as best I can, I take refuge in You from the evil of which I have committed. I acknowledge Your favour upon me and I acknowledge my sin, so forgive me, for verily none can forgive sin except You.

May Allāh (ﷻ) forgive us and make it easy for us to seek His forgiveness.

ALLĀH IS FREE OF NEED, MANKIND IS NEEDY

Abu Dharr al-Ghifaree (may ALLĀH be pleased with him)narrated from the Prophet (ﷺ), who narrated from his Lord, that HE ﷻ said:

“O My servants! I have forbidden dhulm (oppression) for Myself, and I have made it forbidden amongst you, so do not oppress one another.

O My servants, all of you are astray except those whom I have guided, so seek guidance from ME and I shall guide you.

O My servants, all of you are hungry except those whom I have fed, so seek food from ME and I shall feed you.

O My servants, all of you are naked except those whom I have clothed, so seek clothing from ME and I shall clothe you.

O My servants, you commit sins by day and by night, and I forgive all sins, so seek forgiveness from ME and I shall forgive you.

O My servants, you will not attain harming ME so as to harm ME, and you will not attain benefiting ME so as to benefit ME.

O My servants, if the first of you and the last of you, and the humans of you and the jinn of you, were all as pious as the most pious heart of any individual amongst you, then this would not increase MY Kingdom an iota.

O MY servants, if the first of you and the last of you, and the humans of you and the jinn of you, were all as wicked as the most wicked heart of any individual amongst you, then this would not decrease MY Kingdom an iota.

O MY servants, if the first of you and the last of you, and the humans of you and the jinn of you, were all to stand together in one place and ask of ME, and I were to give everyone what he requested, then that would not decrease what I Possess, except what is decreased of the ocean when a needle is dipped into it.

O My servants, it is but your deeds that I account for you, and then recompense you for. So he who finds good, let him praise ALLĀH, and he who finds other than that, let him blame no one but himself.”

[Muslim]

The hadith shows us the proper relationship between mankind and ALLĀH. It shows us the many attributes of ALLĀH such as being Merciful, Forgiving, Powerful and Compassionate. In contrast, we as human beings are poor, needy and weak. We are in continuous need for ALLĀH, our creator and sustainer. We need HIS Guidance, Help and Support. That is why in every raka'ah of our salah we are required to recite Umu al-Kitab or Surah al-Fatihah. We recite it at least 17 times everyday. It reminds us of our extreme need for our Lord and HIS Guidance and Support.
