I was 3 months into Amway, Reddit saved me and my partner..Thank you all!!!!
Hey all, its my first Reddit post and I just wanted to share my story of becoming an Amway IBO 📉
Me and my partner both were approached at the same time by one of our closest friends. I was 50% sure that its a scam but my partner trusted them. They used all the common terms like being financially free, good career and that they were able to activate mentorship in their life. My partner blindly trusted them and got into it with a call with my friend and his mentor (apparently it was called MG1, MG2, EWS, training etc). They made her subscribe to team1global an educational platform for books and audio. I was just waiting and watching everything as I told my partner that I will join later.
And yes, to save my relationship, to stop our constant fights and for the sake of love, I couldn't say no to her. I finally had to join Amway. Our friends forced us to join them for a conference in Melbourne. We had to drive up 7 hours from Canberra to Melbourne just for a day's conference for which we had to pay $120 ticket fees per person. The conference was crazy and even we were shocked looking at the energy and thus we got sucked into Amway business.
We started buying useless overpriced Amway products worth $450 to hit a target of 100PV, and we did, and woaahh the way were recognised. We felt sooo good! After 2 months we were shown a plan where we had to recruit 4 people by end of the month and increase our personal target of 100PV to 300PV that is we spend around $1400 monthly. And that was the time when I understood something is not right. The weekly 2 meetings which used to run till midnight, the books and the audios everything was just a part of the brainwasher.
I landed up on Reddit and read around 100s of u/antiMLM posts and thank god, I realised everything. I just want to take this moment to thank each and every one!!! I love you all!! I sent all these posts to my partner and I was able to convince her that this is just a scam. We both left Scamway last month and yes, we lost around $2000 to it. And yet, those people are still following us and trying to schedule calls with mentors to clear our misunderstanding.
Here's the sad part, yes we lost some money, but we lost our best friends. They are still into this Amway business and they recently had to sell their car, they had to move into a smaller house so that they can use the money building their Amway business and be financially free by the end of 2023. We feel very sad when we see them around malls in Canberra trying to recruit people (networking). But can't help.
Again, thanks a lot everyone!!!
# Free Tip: Stay away from Team1Global education platform, that's Amway!!! $50 still gets directly debited from our account monthly.

Arbonne rant
I bought from a long term friend years ago. Tried their energy fizzes. They weren’t bad but weren’t great never wanted to buy again. Explain this to said friend, because she is an actual friend she said she respects it and let me know if I ever have questions but she would never try to “sell me”.
Today I got an email, phone call and text from some Arbonne rep I don’t even know. Apparently Arbonne gives old “clients” info to new reps to try to get them easy sales.
I spammed her articles on how to get out of mlms. Anything else you creative thinkers can think of to get them off our backs? Lol

They Wouldn't Sell me a Granola Bar
This is something I still find kind of funny. I was at an outdoor market and a representative of an MLM was flogging her wares. I had no idea it was an MLM at the time, but I was hungry and the MLM was selling granola bars or something comparable.
The person would not sell me a single granola bar. I found it was an MLM later and she likely didn't want to open the box of granola bars.

Massage therapist trying to sell me The Ripple Effect
I have a lot of back pain and I've been on the search for a new massage therapist. I had an incredible massage today, though the therapist was a bit too chatty for my liking. Fine, I'll chat as long as you bust up my knots.
I mentioned that I teach yoga and she asked if she can text me later for advice on yoga related stuff.
Next thing I know she's adding me to the Facebook group for The Ripple Effect and texting me about testimonials FFS.
Do I tell the business owner? I don't want to go back now!!

Guildford Holiday Inn MLM interrupted
On Monday I was in a hotel for the girlfriends work. I worked the morning from the room, had late checkout at 2pm, and worked the last 3.5 hours from the bar area.
A woman arrived just before me and took my favourite spot in the corner with a socket for my laptop charger, so I sat a few tables down the same bench.
A few minutes later a woman I at first thought was a friend arrived. Between work and calls, I listened to this woman extract her dreams, and tell her she could have them, expect hardship because the most successful people struggled the most, etc, for three and a half hours! This girl had a hearing issue too and seemed to have struggled with it, and just wanted to make a living and agency in her life.
I wrote a note to her that I was going to just hand her as I left, but as I was finishing it up the succubus went to the toilet. I told her I was sorry to burst her bubble (she was so excited about the future and being able to contribute to the household income) it was a pyramid scheme. I told her about this subreddit too. Then I gave her the note anyway so she'd have it written down.
I keep thinking about her and wondering what happened. Part of me hopes that she will come here and read this and tell us it stopped her, but that's not realistic.
I'm glad I tried though

Is black diamond network a mlm?
A friend of mine has joined this shady looking buisness (the pics are the announcement post made by what I assume is her boss). I've had a look at the boss' fb profile, and it's full of #girlboss stuff, but I can't find what she sells or actually does. I'm extra concerned bc my friend is an Eastern European immigrant, and I'm a 2nd generation turkish immigrant myself, so I feel a bit extra protective, bc I'm lucky this never happened to my mum. Hopefully it's not a mlm, but I'm not hopeful. Am in the UK if that helps.

Should We Create a Publishing Company to Make Fake MLM Books?
A recent post showed an MLM-er saying "everything is an MLM" and it made me think of how he'd love a book called the Real Pyramid Scheme about how having a job is a scam to keep you Just Over Broke, and there'd be all kinds of fake stuff, like maybe an interview with "a real CEO" and an "HR Guy."
Anyway, it's just an idea.
ETA: It can have great stats like how a min wage of $15 solves nothing (even a $30 or $50 min wage is useless because history shows that costs adjust to min wage - we'll make a chart) and how "where there's a floor, there's a ceiling," and it'll have a picture of a tall guy whose arms reach higher than the ceiling, but they are stopped by it.

Quick question about Rodman + Fields
Hi y’all,
Looking for some quick help. My mom absolutely loves the Redefine multi-function eye cream from Rodan + Fields. I just know it’s incredibly overpriced and there has to be a dupe or even the same product in a different package out there for her!
I’m a skin care routine expert so I’m not even sure where to look! Hoping someone can let me know of a dupe or something so she stops getting scammed and doesn’t have to support an MLM.
Thank you!

Where is the 2022 Monat Income Disclosure Statement?
The fact that Q2 is almost done and they haven't released last year's numbers is quite telling.🚩🚩
They are most likely horrendous because of the max exodus of over 40k huns plus all the cheating and rank buying that was exposed last year.
Btw does anyone notice how desperate the top Monat huns are getting, even the ones who barely posted on social media because they sat comfortably at the top are constantly posting about the bUsInEsS 🤔

Today, in class we got a presentation from someone at arbonne and it legitimately hit every single point I read about in posts I see daily. It wasted like half of our day of learning.

Optavia
Yesterday at work a woman started raving about Optavia for weight loss. She went into what it consisted of and my MLM radar went off. While she was talking another woman overheard and started talking about how amazing it is.
So I looked it up, and yep, it’s like a $350 a month MLM. Have you guys heard of this one? Is it the next “new” thing? Any tips for when people come into my job and say it’s amazing? I work in a tea shop.
Thanks!

Is impruvu.io / Damon aleczander vifquain a scam?
As the title says is impruvu.io / Damon aleczander vifquain a scam?
They supposedly fund businesses and fix your credit. I was able to find bad things about Damian but its from the same guy (imfilmguy). I am a bit skeptical. I want to hear from more people.
I was wondering if anyone has any experience with him. Damian was also part of EPIC Trading.
Thanks!

Highlight the small independent MLMs
They usually have 0 quality control. Atleast the bigger ones with a corporate unit have nice packaging, product photography and description.
The Gourmet Cupboard is the worst I've ever come across. The products are just spice mixes in ziplock bags. They call it food mixes but they're not. You have to add all the ingredients yourself. The worst was a mix for ham and cheese sliders.
"These are an all-time favorite here at TGC!
Makes a great party food or a great, quick dinner!
Add ham, cheese, Hawaiian style rolls and butter"
Their website is the worst I've ever come across.
https://www.thegourmetcupboard.com/store/index.php?route=product/product&path=97104&productid=640 this photo is on the official website😱!! Company history FAQs etc are just long rambles with loads of double exclamation points!!
Don't know how anyone could fall for it.

Why are MLM reps so keen on showing off their earnings?
Why are MLM reps so keen on showing off their earnings? It seems to be their first line of defence.
Is there a strategy there?
As soon as I start questioning reps, they are quick to shove their earnings in my face. That can’t be right as most of them lose money.

I just came from a Primerica meeting. Does Primerica do anything with the personal questions you answered?
I knew something was wrong with this, but my desperation for getting a job (I tried to get a comp sci internship for summer and barely didn't get one) got me to say yes to a meeting. I went through everything and only left with a feeling of just pure defeat. I only answered questions that were already public information, but can Primerica do anything with that info? I just want to see if I got any win here.

WFG insurance license at risk in Ontario
According to the Financial Services Regulatory Authority of Ontario (FSRA, formerly FSCO), due to gaps in their operation, they are looking to impose conditions on their license.
Not a complete hit, but it’s a hit in the right direction. Definitely can now say to people that the Ontario government is investigating them and hopefully turn away potential victims (at least in Ontario).
