Just need to vent 😡
I joined Mary Kay solely for the discount. I even told the lady I signed up under that I would ONLY be buying things that I want so that I can get them 50% off, that I will never ever EVER have parties or try to sell the products to other people. She said, “oh that’s totally fine!”. I’ve enjoyed the discount since then, but she and her upline WILL NOT FREAKIN LEAVE ME ALONE!!!!!!! They text, message, and call me daily, they even send me letters in the mail wanting me to get more “active”. I’ve reminded the lady that I don’t want to be more active, so they kind of lay off me now… but now she wants me to come by her house to pick up a “consultant gift” she has gotten for me. I don’t want to go to her house because I don’t want to shop talk with her (I know that’s what she’s up to). How do I politely decline the “gift”? I don’t want to be rude or make things awkward, but I am so annoyed…. That was a rhetorical question honestly, I know I just need to tell her to leave me alone. But I just can’t… so I came her to rant.

Recently found out my elderly cousin is spending loads of money in doTERRA products
Recently I was in my cousins car and was telling her about how I was really sick and she told me to sniff this weird peppermint scented liquid in her hands because it would help me, in the car I ended up finding out that she spends absurd amounts of money in these products and has some kind of membership to them, at the time I didn’t know what doTERRA was yet but knew it was something shady, after doing some research my theory was confirmed. I really wanted to tell her about how this company is shady and doesn’t actually do anything and stuff but I feel like she would just not believe me because I’m young and get mad at me. Can anyone please give me advice to get her out of it?

"Spark Dynamics" aka "Southern Event Management, Inc" aka ???
Wife has been job searching and somehow ended up with a interview, which turned out to be a group interview (instant red flag), for this company. From the interview they're a marketing company that does face to face stuff that works with AT&T, Apple, Samsung (doubt). Spark apparently has only existed for less than a year on Instagram and heavily uses the photos from Southern Event Management? Both companies heavily use Google Voice, have inconsistent information, and use rented office space or storage units for addresses.
Not sure if it's an MLM or another shady company. Anyone have advice on figuring these people out?

Hire Standard Staffing and AIL. His background glitched!
So.... I'm trying to get out of retail and into a living wage. Figuring work from home is a good starting point. I'm not sure how these guys got my info, but I start getting emails from Hire Standard Staffing about a work from home opportunity that I don't recall applying to.
I do my homework. American Income Life. Now I'm going to have fun with this.
Interview was a group interview over a zoom knockoff with a dude what appeared to be a nice suit in a fancier office. Mics and camera disabled for me and the 20 other people in the room.
So I'm sitting here, watching the most generic, corporate vaguepost template powerpoint I've seen since like 2000 when I decide to ask in chat, "Is this Multi-Level Marketing?" All comments and questions have been disabled, with the promise of a Q and A session at the end.
And then the dude's "office" starts glitching. I'm kinda glad I had my camera and mic disabled at this point, because I'm having trouble keeping a straight face. If my unobservant ADHD ass saw it, I know everyone else did, but we can't say anything.
So I suffer through the next ten minutes of this "hype" (that barely mentions AIL), waiting to ask some real questions. Nope! No questions allowed! Just a further "screening. I'm so filling this out honestly to see if anyone reads it

Parents have been in Amway for 11 years and I don’t know how to get them out
My parents got into Amway when I was in second grade, so I was very young to understand what it was. They told my siblings and I that we would start to live in a bigger house and that we would travel the world. This sounded cool because we were poor and my parents looked so hopeful that this will turn our lives around. My parents are also immigrants and the organization used this as a way to tell them that this is what they came to America for. It makes me enraged that they used my parents and made them believe that they could get rich out of this. I have tried to talk with my parents in the past of how this is basically a pyramid scheme but legal. They are so loyal to the company that they got mad at me for “slandering” the organization. I want them to get out, but I don’t know what to do. I don’t know how much they’ve spent in that organization but I know it’s a lot. It makes me sad when my parents say that they’ll work harder the next month so that we can get closer to live in a better house. I desperately want them to get out, but they’re so brainwashed into thinking they can get rich from this.
Do y’all have any ideas in how I can convince them to get out?

What you can do - How to report scams to the FTC
The good news is, it's easy and takes minutes! You can help hold Elomir and other shady MLMs accountable by filing a report with the FTC using this form.
In this case, I chose to report as a health issue, then selected 'fake or misleading medical treatment or cure'. You will be asked to write about your experience with the scammer. Include a link to Elomir's website and bring to their attention that Elomir is misleading consumers by promising all kinds of health benefits without any evidence to back them up. (In my report, I also pointed out that one of the testimonials on their website is from a 13 year old girl, implying their product is safe for children) If enough of us say something, hopefully someone with the power to do something will step in! Here is a video that takes you step-by-step through the reporting process.
Be the change you wish to see 🌻
(Note: on the file report page, there is also an option to report a 'business/moneymaking opportunity' and then choose 'pyramid scheme' In this particular business, the bogus health claims are most concerning imo so I chose the health issue option but I feel like either would apply)

No product to the end user is front loading inventory. Being paid off of purchases & not sales is ILLEGAL. Does the owner not know this is against FTC regulations? Just like LuLaNo. Are the owners not smarter than this as this is not their first rodeo? So much fraud, so little time.

MLM "training" is so cult-like
Currently visiting family and have been periodically eavesdropping on the Elomir "training" and "team meetings" of one family member. Hun talk is infuriating. Full of toxic positivity and encouraging them to exploit every relationship they can. If they aren't leveling up it's clearly because they aren't working hard or the haters are getting in their way. They also constantly take time to make videos and do lives, even while on vacation, so I have been keeping far away whenever they pull out their phone because I do not want to be associated with this. Thankfully, they no longer approach me because I have been very clear that I will never even entertain a conversation about their latest "life-changing" product (they have been involved in at least 6 scams in the past 2 decades). How can people buy into this shit. The huns team knows I'm visiting and my profession so I'm expecting they will pressure my family member to try to get me to sell their listerine strips to patients (I work in health care). If they do, I might ask for a copy of the "research" just for fun, before pointing out everything wrong with their junk science that they use to support their unfounded claims.

Is there a MLM targeting LGBTQ+ community?
This maybe an odd question.
Context: A friend of mine didn’t have any idea on how MLM companies work and how terrible they are. So I went into a whole monologue about it.
My friend raised an interesting point about how come MLMs don’t target lgbtq+ community? Her rationale was often they are isolated from family due to coming out or at worst given MLM Huns have zero moral, they would try to sell supplements as “conversion therapy”.
I mentioned to her MLMs are often deeply seeded into religions and heteronormative family structure. Women are often sold on the idea of fReEdOm to spend time with mUh FaMiLy. But still I keep thinking about what she asked.
I don’t think in all the YouTube antiMLM videos I have watched or my lurking on this sub, I have ever seen any targeting queer people or heard any experience from anyone that is regarding their gender/sexual identity (ie hun said supplement can make me straight).
Any insight or discussion is appreciated.

In short, the recent changes make third-party apps and moderation tools unsustainable by making their developers pay ludicrous amounts of money. More information here: https://www.theverge.com/2023/6/12/23755974/reddit-subreddits-going-dark-private-protest-api-changes.

The General "what is Elomir?" post
This post is a WIP & will serve as an FAQ/will be updated with information as the dumpster fire continues to burn. Send a DM or modmail if you have a correction/something you think should be added!
In a nutshell
Elomir is a new MLM that has been popping up on social media in the last couple of months, founded by two Huns with years of experience in the industry. They've teased the product for a while under #changetheconversation and it was initially supposed to launch in June 2022. The date then got pushed back to July 5th 2022, and now it's coming sometime in August 2022 due to "technical problems with their machines."
What the heck is it/what does it do?
Elomir sells a strip called the Axis Klarity, which looks like a little yellow square that dissolves on your tounge. Kind of like a Listerine strip, except scammier. The company claims on their website that the strips have a slew of health benefits, such as:
- boosts immunity
-increse mental clarity
-more focus
-less stress
-powerful antioxidants
-replenishes Gluathione
-better gut health
-detoxifies digestive system
-stabilizes blood sugar
What are the ingredients?
this is the ingredients list shared by Elomir
What makes them special?
Aside from the general shadiness of the MLM business model...
🚩 elomir Huns have been caught telling their downline to take fake pictures of the product and pretend that they've tried it in order to promote. While some of their attempts are straight up laughable, this is an incredibly dishonest tactic.
🚩 elomir claimed they are sold out of all their product and can't sell to customers yet, but are still accepting $ from new Huns who wanna sign up. Another huge red flag here... How can you onboard more sellers if there's no product ready to sell? They can't even fulfill the orders of huns who have already signed up but they're willing to keep taking more people's $ who wanna sign up and change the conversation 🙄
🚩 Despite listing on their website the product should not be used by anyone under 18, elomir used a testimonial from a 13 year old child as an advertisement

The defensive posts have started.
(Even though they haven't tried the product 🙄)
Some people doubt, wonder why...say, "oh, it's just another....."
But here it is.....even though I have not even had the opportunity to try it yet (Mine will be here Monday)...
I CHOOSE to believe in this product and what it is doing for people.
I CHOOSE to take a supplement that surpasses ANY efficacy and absorption rate of any other product out there.
I CHOOSE to feel better and live a better life.
I CHOOSE to be a part of a MOVEMENT, along with my friends, that BELIEVE in this product and what it is doing for the better GOOD of the people and that it is the FUTURE!
I CHOOSE to make a difference for others and SPREAD THE HEALTH
Question?.. do you eat anything packaged? Yeah, me too....
Do you take a vitamin? I do....
Do you know what’s in them? Not always....
Do you question clinical trials on them? Never gave it much though, except medications...
Think 🤔 about that.
Do you buy things that have been recommended to you by a friend?
Good restaurant.
Good Doctor.
Good movie.
Good car.
Good insurance.
I BELIEVE in Elomir!!
I BELIEVE in Van and Toan.
I BELIEVE in Bridget and Ryan.
