The latest Hannah Alonzo video
On the first story I was just absolutely appalled by the lack of empathy displayed by the hun. I've been approached by Mary Kay huns before so I know how pushy they can be, and the purposeful lack of awareness they display when they know they are advances are timed inappropriately. But to hear that someone's husband just left them to be a single mother while they are struggling with a difficult pregnancy, and think to use that to add to their pitch?? And for Mary freaking Kay of all things??! I honestly felt sick to my stomach. And the gaul to be thinking ahead of how she could pitch to the NICU nurses? Just wtf.
Honestly just needed a place to share my thoughts with likeminded people because I just was shocked. I know I shouldn't be at this point but its like there is no limit to how far these people will stoop.

I accidentally scheduled an interview with an MLM today. I feel so dumb!
A lady representing a company called Primerica called me earlier today and wanted to schedule an interview for tomorrow. I didn’t know exactly what they were, so I did accept the interview.
Adter the call ended, I looked them up and I found out they were an MLM, and it makes me so mad! I’ve been trying to get a job for months now, and the only people interested in me are MLMs…

Did mlm for 2 years. I made money. Here’s the most toxic piece of mlm:
The levels. People “above” you assume that they’re better than you. AND we’re taught that they are in fact better! We’re conditioned to want to be like the uplines. We’re brainwashed to think that we must hang onto every word they say. We’re led to believe that they’re farther along in LIFE. Every MLM leader across all the companies will preach to you that “you become like the five people you spend the most time with”. That’s code for keeping you close and cloning themselves by making you feel inferior. They make you feel like you will be a better person when you have a bigger business. One of my uplines told me I’d never have a bigger business If I didn’t become a better person. Barf. Ps. My 1099s for each of my two years were both $26,000.

Why the bright colours?
Being from the UK, I learned about LuLaRoe thanks to this sub. Although, I have watched the documentary, I still seem to be missing a few points.
The fashion standards of the past couple of decades are focusing on subtle colours and prints with optional bright elements for an accent.
How come that LLR successfully(?) sells/sold heaps of garish clothes with loud colours and non-sensical designs? (I know they had some normal looking clothes, but most of them look horrible.)
I get that a lot of clothes weren’t resold, but a good amount clearly was.
While I get that young mums may opt for playful patterns while their kids are young, I can’t imagine wanting to look like an overenthusiastic presenter of a kid’s TV program all my waking hours…
Is there some cultural difference at play that I am unable to grasp? What’s the secret to selling garish clothes?

I might have to work for an MLM. Forgive me?
Guys last week I got call from PHP (life insurance) to work at their corporate office. The pay is significantly better than what I make now. I can’t turn it down, I also can’t go back to my current job if it sucks.
One thing is that I hate MLMs, but my current job is not going to pay me anymore - I’ve hit a ceiling, and these guys are the only ones I’ve heard back from after applying to about 8-9 different places.
Yes I’m morally conflicted. But if I can take some moolah from them and maybe convert some folks to reality, perhaps it’s worth it?
Also, anyone got experience with PHP in any capacity, especially working in house, please tell me your experience.

Losing Spouse to MLM
I’m unfortunately fixated at understanding how my stbxh could blindside me with divorce after being together for almost 8 years and us being otherwise pretty happy (at least to me). Last year he joined a known MLM and I have such a strong feeling that this was the beginning of the end. Lots of trainings and webinars with speakers. Lots of mindset work around success and financial freedom.
He seemed happy and motivated and it was a side hustle for his normal job and I was working my 9-5 that I’ve done well in so I was ok.
Then it seemed to start consuming him and he had this unpredictable schedule of “trainings” and meetings with a sprinkle of actual clients. I was working full time and raising our kids while also trying to manage our home, dogs, and my declining mental health. I gently tried to bring up that I was concerned about our marriage if things kept going this direction of barely seeing one another. He said in the end I wasn’t supportive and never tried to make an effort to learn about what he was doing but I quite literally never had time. I tried explaining this calmly and rationally. I told him this company’s mindset stuff sounded like brainwash and he got so upset. He didn’t fight for our marriage. Declined counseling and has been pressuring me to sell our house. Thankfully I have family support and I’ve hired an attorney as I just feel uneasy about all this.
As I’ve gone down the MLM rabbit hole on YouTube and Reddit, it feels more certain that he’s become a victim to it. His new gf that he “only started seeing after our split” may also be wrapped up in this. Yes I’m aware I likely am dodging a bullet in the long run but I’m still sad for my kids and for the man I use to know. He was great before all this.
Anyone else lose a spouse to MLM?

Accidentally bought a Herbalife shake
I started to get suspicious because it was an independent store, but then I figured I should support small businesses. I ordered my shake and even told the guy "I'm usually wary of stores like this because they're MLMs" He didn't say anything to that. It was 10$ too!!!
Omg, nooo... It is really not that good. Very artifical tasting and he didn't put anything fresh in it.
After ordering, I saw someone wrote "we love herbalife" on a promotional sticker in the store.
SMH.

Boyfriend has fallen victim to "crypto currency"
The last couple of months, my partner has been involved in "cryptocurrency", or "trading" as it's also called. I'm not 100% clued up on it all, but my first impression is it's basically an MLM for men.
He's been messaging people trying to get them involved and it's now to the point he's exchanging numbers with randoms when he over hears them talking about "trading". He's also been trying to get me involved, telling me to "invest", believing it'll be our ticket out of the typical working life that we all live and it's doing my head in. I would much rather save my money and let interest build on it in my bank account.
He's talking about going to Dubai in May with some friends of his who got him involved to get even more involved as apparently there's "professionals" over there he can speak with? Jfc he has absolutely no other reason why he wants to visit Dubai, and I know it's extremely expensive. He'll spend a lot of time in online "meetings" and stuff which are promising free trips to Dubai where you just have to sort out your flight if you are successful or reach some kind of title.
He has so far spent probably about £100 on different "investments" (?) and he keeps saying he's tempted to put all his money in and it's making me worried.
I've been following and lurking in this sub for years and learnt that if it's too good to be true, then it probably is. And this whole crpyto thing defo sounds too good.
Please help, how tf do I get him out of this? He strongly believes we'll end up sitting on a goldmine and so far my impression is that that's not possible unless you risk putting in thousands, money that we don't have.

What Do You Think Are/Have Been The Most Dangerous Products Sold By MLMs
Hey Guys,
I'm doing a video series on MLMs and one of the topics I'm looking into are the products which have been described as dangerous to people's health or have made unfounded claims (here's looking at those hunbots who claimed doTerra could cure COVID).

In your opinion, what have been the most dangerous products sold by MLMs?

Great way to spot someone in an MLM or other Scam
So, I’ve recently come across a pretty great way to determine, in ten seconds, if someone is in an MLM. Now, it doesn’t work 100% of the time, but it’s pretty damn good.
Ask them what they do for a living. If after 5 seconds, you have no idea what they do for a living, chances are they’re in an MLM.
Im an attorney. When I say that, you have a pretty clear idea of what I do for a living. I’ve asked this question to plenty of people who were MLMs, and here are some of my favorite answers:
1) Them:”I work in finance”.
Me: “oh, cool, so you’re a financial planner? Are you a CFP, a CFA?”
Them: “what are those? No, I help people become financially independent.”
Me: “oh… do you work with WFG (world financial group)?”
Them: “yes, how did you know?!”
Me: “….. lucky guess” -.-
2) “I’m an independent businesswoman”
3) “I’m a life coach”
4) “I’m an independent sales consultant”
5) “I’m a network marketer”
6) “I help people achieve their dreams”.
I notice the word “independent” being used when it’s not necessary is a pretty key indicator. I would never say, I’m an independent attorney.
What are some answers or ways you’re able to tell someone is in a ~~cult~~ MLM?
