I was targeted by a “travel agent” posing as a new friend and I’m seriously annoyed
This was my first experience of being targeted and it’s made me wonder why she thinks I’m so weak that I would fall for it.
School mum. Met her at a coffee event I wasn’t even meant to go to, but a friend (who isn’t involved in this stuff) convinced me to go.
I wasn’t meant to end up sitting next to her but did. She messages me the next day asking if I wanted to meet again. I say yes like a plum. But I wasn’t available until maybe a month after.
She asks me no questions about me but then pitches me a whole spiel. “Do this for yourself” etc etc - I was fuming. I have enough friends, and I love being a SAHM, so I don’t know why she thought I’d be such easy prey.
What annoyed me the most was how she kept talking about her friends - went for a walk with them / goes away with them etc etc - so clearly she has friends she doesn’t target, but I’m the dumb one who has to fall for her scheme to have the benefit of being her friend?
I felt like messaging her after telling her to f - off but I will leave it as we have mutuals.
These people have no shame.

Approached by MLMen twice in the last 2 months
They gotta learn to avoid the lonely dudes. They just let me talk for 20 minutes and then we part ways.
Both conversations started with asking about my shoes, which of course gets me going. At some point they mention mentors, passive income, and ecommerce. I say "Oh nice.." then I talk about investing because I like to. They don't even seem like they wanna talk about their "Side hustle".
I admit I'm a little embarrassed that I think these guys wanna be my friend in that moment but then I think, These guys are cold approaching other guys at their local Walmart with compliments about their fashion choices talking about "My E-Commerce mentor is teaching me financial freedom".
Anyway... I think I need to find a hobby that involves other people.

Hey guys I need Advice about WFG
Hey guys (24M) basically I joined WFG when I was 19 or 20 because the EMD of the company Jessica Min was friends with my mother since I was a child want me to jt . I never liked it since everyone was pushy, especially Jessica, as she straight up interrogates me on my schedule and every aspect of life, and trys to pressure me to recruit people like my such as friends and family. A few days ago I did research and apparently WFG is considered MLM and a pyramid scheme with numerous testimonies of people who experience the same things as I did, people were pushy, cult like behavior and many more. Told my mother about it and she states that understood my points but she confused as WFG still sells legitamate insurance. She also says that I shouldn't jump to conclusions based on what was said about a company on the internet even though I showed evidence of numerous complaints of WFG. So what should I do now ? Cancel my subscription and membership as my parents are paying for them but I can't in good conscience let them waste money on a such a blatant scam. What your guys' opinions on this. I'll be happy to answer any questions also can you guys please do research on Jessica Min, especially because I feel very suspicious about her using my mother friendship to get to me what worse she aking my brother age so that he joined the "business" i would greatly appreciate it thank you

As a 23 year old student who graduated from grad school I’ve been approached by a friend of a friend who suggested amway to make extra money and build a successful business. Before they move me to the next steps they want me to answer these questions before we have a meeting today. The last five questions are definitely raising some concerns for me. Especially paired with the fact that they’re very interested when im going to test for my BCBA certification and going to be done studying. Is this insurance company an MLM?
Apologies if this isn't in the right place but I wanted a second opinion and I figured I'd ask here.
So I have been job hunting this entire summer since moving and I finally got what I thought would be a decent job. It's under the Whittingham Agency which seems to be under Globe Life. My housemates told me it was an MLM. I was looking through reddit and it seemed kind of mixed in the comments but I figured I'd get more info just in case.
Any information on the topic would be appreciated. I am desperately looking for employment but I don't want to be in a rough spot with a MLM either. So any assistance would be appreciated!

Scummy mlm pushers using their job positions to influence sales
Anyone else here dealt with a supervisor or c-suite person creating an 'in-crowd' that is just people who support their MLM? It makes me especially sick since all they're doing is preying on people who think this may affect their jobs.
Friend's boss is going around to employees after they get paid to collect for trips via World Ventures. Before anyone mentions legal recourse, trust me, I live in a country where that's unlikely to bear any results.

A family member has been sucked into a couple of MLM schemes (first it was HempWorx; now it appears to be some weight-loss thing), and they've started posting a bunch of stuff about New Thought and this guy named Neville Goddard on their social media. It seems to be some sort of metaphysical, Christian, law-of-attraction thing. This family member and their spouse (who has a lucrative job) have also started putting all their money into silver. Does anyone know if there's any relationship between these things?

Do Terra scamming my uncle with cancer
My uncle is elderly. I don't think he went past 8th grade in school. When he was elementary school age he got St Louis encephalitis and once he got well, he was low IQ. He's had a hard life. He spent most of it homeless, not because of addiction or loss of job. He couldn't hold a job nor did he want to. He was just happy being a street musician. In late middle age we were able to convince him to move in with his mother in her trailer. He took care of her until she passed. The land (5 acres) and the trailer went to me, and for extra protection he has a life estate. So he can live there for the rest of his life without paying rent. He gets SSDI, but it's very little. I think 700/mo. His living conditions are deplorable. I've done what I can replacing his well, replacing his AC, tried to get his plumbing working. Even had adult services go down there.
About 6 months ago he was diagnosed with kidney cancer. Then 2 months ago bladder cancer.
Long story short, he is barely able to take care of himself. I live out of state and do what I can.
This DoTerra hun has been selling him oils promising they will cure his cancer. He believes in all kinds of conspiracy theories and weird diets, so he was an easy mark. He's broke. He's sick. But he is spending so much of his limited money on these oil cures. He's been dropping so much weight, and I don't know if it's the cancer or that he can't afford food. He's over 6 feet tall and 80 lbs.
I can't believe how evil this person must be scamming an old man with a brain injury and cancer.
He lives in Arkansas. Is there anything I can do?

It's a Broken Jaw, Hun!!!!
I didn't want to post the exact quote here from my FB friend, but the gist of it is that her daughter has a broken jaw due to an accident between the little girl on her bike and an adult riding an e-bike (that's a debate for another day). The daughter is having surgery today to fix it.
This is the last response to her post:

My mom has worked for Pampered Chef for 30 years. Hoards products.
So my mom has worked with Pampered Chef for 30 or so years. She fell into the trap being a SAHM and military spouse. I just am still shocked she is apart of the company. Instead of cooking shows since Covid, she only does virtual catalog shows and "craft shows," festivals, and farmers markets. She stock piles products when she turns in shows... gets the 60% hostess discount and sells the profucts for full price at these events. Obviously she has never listened to anyone about how predatory MLM companies are, but she still boasts and calls it her home buisness. I am ranting about it today because I was looking through her pantry, and found the PF seasoning blends unopened expired 13 years. 😭 I am devastated how much time she has put into this company she could of started her own....

How dare you be a conscientious consumer!
So, I live in Scotland. Yesterday, I visited a local small business in my city and discovered MLM products being sold there alongside original craft ones. A shame, really, because the shop owner and the original products both seemed nice but I personally can't not feel guilty contributing to a business if a part of the profits may go towards buying MLM slop the owner has fallen a victim to. So I won't be buying anything. Something to think about, you know?
That was the TLDR of my post in the local subreddit but the reaction turned out to be surprising, to say the least. Most people in the comments seem to think I have some hidden agenda and just want to bash a nice lady for no reason. Oh well, I said everything I could but I think that since the MLMs have gotten a lot less popular in Europe than they used to be in the past (I remember them being all everywhere when I was a kid), people have forgotten how predatory they can be. Which is both a good and a bad thing, because the cycle can repeat all over again.
P.S. The MLM in question was Tropic Skincare btw
