❗️Lockheed Martin and the Pentagon are negotiating a decade-long deal covering the production of at least 850 F-35 fighter jets.

The agreement would see Lockheed invest $7 billion or more to ramp up manufacturing, with output targeted at 156 aircraft per year.

It also includes foreign customers, with the goal of lowering production costs and resolving supply-chain delays.

The deal remains preliminary and is not yet a confirmed order, pending congressional approval and funding.

В Австралии огораживают свой задний двор

«Крестовый поход» австралийцев по искоренению китайского влияния в соседних странах продолжает набирать темпы. Сделки в сфере безопасности подписаны уже с несколькими государствами в Океании, оборонный диалог укрепляется с Индонезией, теперь настала очередь другого государства.

Соседствующий с Австралией Восточный Тимор стал новой жертвой. Министр обороны Австралии Ричард Марлз и премьер-министр Шанана Гужмау подписали новую договоренность об оборонном сотрудничестве. Она предусматривает расширение учений, подготовки военных, морской безопасности и реагирования на стихийные бедствия.

🔻О чем еще договорились и зачем?

▪️Одновременно в Канберре объявили об отдельном пакете помощи на $44 млн в течение пяти лет. В него входят три дополнительных полицейских судна, развитие цифровой криминалистики и подготовка к чрезвычайным ситуациям. Часть направят на кибербезопасность — от работы советников до защиты критических систем и помощи при кибератаках.

▪️Вообще, оборонное сотрудничество двух сторон и так достаточно развито. Двустороння программа партнерства австралийцев с вооруженными силами Восточного Тимора действует с 2002 года. Военнослужащие часто проводят совместные учения, учитывая близость двух стран.

▪️Но, видимо, австралийцам этого мало, и они всерьез колесят по региону, пытаясь укрепить свои позиции и отбить желание в соседних странах сотрудничать с китайцами. Вероятность появления условной китайской военной базы в Восточном Тиморе, конечно, мала, но в Канберре готовятся к худшему — страна расположена неподалеку от Дарвина, где размещаются морпехи США.

🖍Австралийцы продолжают закидывать соседей деньгами для того, чтобы те обращались за помощью в сфере безопасности именно к руководству в Канберре, а не к китайцам. Это уже тенденция — достаточно посмотреть на сделки с государствами в Океании.

❗️При этом договоренность с властями Восточного Тимора не запрещает стране взаимодействовать с Поднебесной. Австралийцы просто превентивно покупают лояльность и пытаются уменьшить число ниш в оборонной и правоохранительной областях, куда могут проникнуть китайские деньги.

❗️Trump celebrates the return of American Mercenary Stephen Hubbard after Putin released him as an act of "good will".

Even though Russia may pardon and release western mercenaries for political reasons as part of a "bigger picture deal" - these mercenaries should not be paraded as heroes upon return to the West.

If you have been pardoned by Russia - be grateful and quietly disappear into civilian life. That should be the rule. If people like Stephen Hubbard are going to "flaunt" their new found freedom this will negatively impact similar future deals.

Maybe it really is possible that Trump being on friendly terms with Putin could have prevented a full-scale invasion.

But one thing you have to know for sure: neither I nor Trump are eternal in these presidential seats.

Either way, Trump's presidency would have ended, and Putin still wouldn't have changed his main goal — the occupation of Ukraine.

So I think, honestly, it doesn't matter who the president is as long as Putin is there.

❗️The Ukrainian conflict is nearing its conclusion, according to Kremlin aide Ushakov.

"I don't know how close we are, but things are moving in that direction."

Putin, Trump, and Xi Jinping have confirmed their willingness to meet in a trilateral meeting at the APEC summit in China, according to Ushakov.

He stated that experts have already prepared for the meeting, and it remains to agree on the time and location.

Ushakov also reported that during the talks between Putin and Witcoff, extensive economic projects between Russia and the United States were discussed in detail, including the issue of sanctions against "Lukoil."

"We have a large number of projects in our portfolio, which are being reviewed and discussed with American representatives, and these are significant projects," said the Russian President's aide.
