BREAKING: Service members who refused COVID-19 vaccine reach settlement with Navy.
The settlement provides for:
- Removing “vaccine refusal” from the service members files
- Refusal can’t be used in determining promotions
- Navy will adjust policy to be more accommodating for religious exemptions

In July 2023, Grace’s family sued Ascension St. Elizabeth Hospital in Appleton, Wisconsin, and several doctors and nurses, alleging the hospital’s COVID-19 treatment protocols — including the administration of remdesivir, placement on a ventilator and the implementation of a do not resuscitate (DNR) order against the family’s wishes — directly resulted in Grace’s death.
Schara told The Defender that the partial lifting of the gag order is “an example of the judge taking the middle of the road,” and was “a disappointment, but not a surprise.”
Responding to arguments from the defendants that the release of the transcripts of their depositions puts them at risk, Schara said, “I don’t understand how me sharing their video testimony puts them at risk.”
Schara said the continued prohibition on releasing these videos violates his First Amendment rights, but appealing this prohibition would further delay the lawsuit.

🚨 Merck Unveils New RSV Shot for Babies, as Moderna Trials mRNA RSV Vaccine for Infants and Toddlers
Merck last week announced “positive” results from a Phase 2/3 clinical trial for a monoclonal antibody drug the pharmaceutical giant is developing to protect infants against respiratory syncytial virus (RSV) disease. If approved, clesrovimab will be the third monoclonal antibody to treat RSV-related illness that is available for babies.
Merck said it assessed clesrovimab for any injection-related adverse events, adverse events of special interest, solicited systemic adverse events, or serious adverse events. The drugmaker said clesrovimab met its safety endpoints, although it didn’t say what those endpoints were.
The FDA in July 2023 approved AstraZeneca and Sanofi’s nirsevimab, under the brand name Beyfortus, for all infants under 8 months or high-risk infants up to 24 months of age. Nirsevimab/Beyfortus also reportedly met its safety endpoints, although 12 infants died during the trials. An investigation by # TheDefender found that at least two infant deaths reported to VAERS, were linked to Beyfortus.
