If you're out near the core and need a ride home. Come find my Carrier! I'll be heading back in about 72 hours or so. Will be back in bubble before next server maintenance.

Just bought the game!
The game is currently downloading and only know a few things - space exploration, ships and sandbox.
This was enough to entice me as I got it on a steam sale.
What more can I expect ? I have read similar question on reddit but the responses say things like racing, piracy, trading but how do these work?
Can I just be a pure villainous Explorer who kills, loots and explores?
I tend not to watch too much video gameplay so I don't ruin anything for myself so I was hoping someone could share a little more insight?
Thank you

Thargoids have been pushed back out of Procyon! Next target Sirius, then Duamta. I repeat, ignore Sol, engage in repelling invasions on neighboring systems.
I still see a lot of commanders in Sol - don't waste your efforts - we need to repel all invasions by next Thursday to be able to counterattack in Sol. I think you can continue your evacuation missions from Sol for roleplay, but all combat AX pilots are needed to repel invasions in other systems.
Use this page to monitoring:

"I'm newbie, I don't know anything about AX battles, can I help?"
Yes!
Peaceful way - help evacuate the inhabitants of stations and ground settlements. If the station is still functioning, even if "under attack" - there are missions for evacuation. You need a fast ship (Cutter - ideal) equipped with economy-class passengers cabin and heat sinks. After taking the refugees on board, you will be intercepted during the jump by a Thargoid ship of the "Scythe" class. Immediately launch a heat sink and run away fast, do not let yourself be noticed and scanned. Engaging in combat would be a bad idea for evacuation ship.
Non-peaceful way - equip your ship with fast engines, cold power plant, hull and module reinforcements. Engineering modules are a priority, but you can do without them. Also install 2 small beam lasers with long range + thermal vent engineering. Then fly to V886 Centauri and board the rescue ship. There you will find caustic sinks (need 2-3), heat sinks (need 1-2), advanced xeno scanners (helpful but not mandatory), thargoid shutdown field neutralizer (helpful but not mandatory) and AX multicanons. Use it for your first AX build. My example of simple AX Mandalay.
Better not to use Guardian modules, because thargoid called "Glaive" can turn it off, and you definately will faced with a several of them.
Than find system with highest players presence by link which I posted abowe and go there.
When arrive, use system map for searching planetary settlements under attack or stations under attack. More easier fight near surface settlements (and don't forget to take thargoid missions in that settlements/stations). Try to find battlefield with another players, it's important especially for new players - you shouldn't fight with aliens alone until you learning AX mechanics. When you see lights of beam lasers near you, it's players there!
Also, if you're tired of meeting traitors of Humanity, I recommend you join the Anti-Xeno Initiative private group:
1. Open the Social Menu (Menu > Social).
2. On the Friends tab, use the search box to find “Anti-Xeno Initiative“.
3. Select the “Anti-Xeno Initiative” and click “Request to join private group“. The Request will be automatically approved.
4. Once you have done return to the main menu and select Start > Private Group > Anti-Xeno Initiative > Join Group. you will now begin playing in the Private Group.
Ensure you have “Report Crimes Against Me” turned off. In chaotic AX fights with many players, some friendly fire is inevitable. This avoids unnecessary fines and disruption to other players.

My pet peeves of being a thargoid evac pilot
in no particular order:
\-surviving a thargoid fleet on my way in to a station, only for the station to turn away a fully stocked rescue beluga over a 2000 credit fine that they won't let me pay off.
\-CMDRs who seem to be working for the thargoids and interdicting me in Sol
\-groups of 6 "vip" passengers who think its ok to pay a premium to sit alone in a 32 capacity cabin
\-Absolute babies who don't leave their seats until I tell them that I wont take a detour for a measly few thousand credits, usually resulting in me forgetting they're there and the mission timing out and getting paid zero for giving them a magical mystery tour of the galaxy as well as saving their lives
\-Some stations being too poor. If you value your life at 50000 credits then I'm leaving you for the goids sorry not sorry
\-Passengers whining at me that they're still in thargoid space while i'm trying to concentrate on not getting everyone killed
\-Passengers sitting in the escape pods for shits and giggles so that they get ejected as soon as I miss an ECM during an interdiction. (stay in your seat, They dont eject!)
It winds me up how stupid passengers can be, but its worth working around as I find it to be the easiest and best paying job in the galaxy. Does anyone have any stories from your own evac missions?

Recognition for the AXI team
While people frequently praise the Fuel Rats for their outstanding and selfless service, sometimes we forget they are not the only ones doing great things. With that in mind I would like to recognize the AXI guys (anti-xeno initiative) for the wealth of knowledge they pioneered.
Think about it; back when they codified their doctrine for killing interceptors, there were no pre-engineered enhanced AX weapons....there weren't even enhanced AX weapons...just the crappy regular AX guns that were only slightly better than regular guns. Not only that, they usually had to go somewhere uncomfortable to do the fighting...places like Coalsack where there are no convenient bases nearby. There were no caustic sinks so you either had to clean off with limpets or fire. And the whole time they are learning all of this...they were getting slaughtered. When you have a 29mil rebuy, and the Goids splatter you in 3 minutes flat...you can burn through a billion credits amazingly fast.
But not only did they figure out how to kill interceptors, but also published videos so others like me can learn how to make billions. Instead of keeping that info secret, they publicized it widely.
So kudos to the AXI guys. Without y'all, we'd all be speaking Thargoid by now.

Hello Reddit!
I am CMDR Mechan. Known for, among possibly other things:
Being the founder of the Xeno Strike Force and an overseer of the Anti Xeno Initiative
Creating content on YouTube specifically focused on Anti Xeno combat, most notably being the producer of Anti Xeno Academy
Being the music producer, together with CMDR Barefoot, of the sole and only AX-inspired music album on Spotify! (Glory, To Mankind)
Having created/consolidated many an AX ship build, some much acclaimed (the Krait Mk2 AX common core), some much maligned (the TitanBomber Mamba)
Here to help players old and new with the defense of Sol, and the broader Thargoid War.
AMA!

Please turn off Crimes Against if fighting for Sol.
In the the AXI private group and have had so many fines from CMDRs getting the my line of fire. I know it is offset by the amount of Combat Bonds we earn but it's still a annoying.

Hyperdiction is getting boring, really boring.
Every, single, time you jump to a bug controlled system it happens. It's not that the hyperdiction is difficult to deal with, it's actually really easy, it's just that it happens every single time.
IMO it would be much better if it happened 30 to 50% of the time as you'd get a sense of apprehension and suspense when jumping to a bug infested system - a sort of "will I, won't I make it cleanly" kind of thing.
Currently there's no suspense, you just know that you're going to get kicked out of the jump conduit, have to go through the running motions, and then jump clear - and this is seriously boring.
What do you lot think?

Thank you CMDRs
Just wanted to say thank you and that I’ve never had as much fun playing this game as I have had in the last few days with our home being invaded by the bugs
Joined the AXI discord and private group and was up all night fighting in Sirius with about 10 other commanders above the surface of Lucifer(?)
Shit felt like I was in Star Wars / the last fight of Independence Day.
39kills and there at the end, when life support was failing, canopy breached, no ammo or heat sinks and 2% armor vs the medusas 1%, I boosted my Krait right into that bastard and escorted him to meet his maker and mine.
Truly an epic, cinematic experience that left me hung over as fuck for work but well worth it
See you tonight CMDRs
