Is that possible for a friend to take a seat on my ship ?
I'm new to the game and i wanted to invite my friends on missions with me, and i thought it would be better if we were on the same ship. But how do i do that ?
Also, i have odyssey and i saw that when i go to the hangar to go back on my ship, i can choose a seat. It means someone can join ? Or do i have to activate something ? Thank you for the help !

Just made it Elite V trading!
I've been grinding hours after hours since around a week to make my 5 billions to afford buying a carrier, I've restarted the game 2 weeks ago and I just finally made both my 5 billions AND reached Elite V as trader rank!
I need to share my joy! I know I need a bit more money before comfortably buy the carrier but it feels so good to know the hardest part has been done!

Need help understanding the exobiology game loop.
There are no real instructions in the game that I've found.
I took a trip 2500ly out into the Sanguinius Arm and found some new Stratum Tectonicas. Even got the reward for being the first to survey and set foot on the planet. Found the Stratum, took a sample, couldn't take any more after that. Flew all the way home and at Vista Genomics it says I dont have anything to submit. It's not even cataloged in the encyclopedia button.
What did I do wrong?
EDIT: Thank you all for your help! I missed that the little lights even meant something, too. haha. Well, the game keeps logs and I'll be out that way again, this was just my first run to figure this out.

If I had one wish from a magical fdev genie...
I'd wish for entertainment installations both in space and on surfaces.
1. There'd only be six in the whole galaxy (5 in the bubble and 1 in colonia. This will ensure it becomes a real concentrated social hub.
2. Gambling: Let players bet on PVP matches populated by players with big rewards for bother the audience and the gladiator (if you win). You can spactate and bet in private rooms for on-foot matches, watch from your seat or use the camera function to watch.
3. Casino fun: All your usual casino games but renamed with future like sci-fi names. You can play with NPCs, your friends, or whoever is sitting at the table. You uber rich one-percenter cmdrs would finally have somewhere to burn your quintillion credits.
4. Arcade with fun mini games; community high scores and such. Maybe some galaga with friends or randoms.
5. Illegal gambling den: You need bounty or notoriety to get past the security guard. Give two cmdrs shock batons and bet on who wins. The stakes are high so you win big or lose big. You can bet your extra ships or modules if you lack money.
(Unrelated): More clothing items: People will want to walk around more of their drip is on point.
(Unrelated #2) Steaming coffee mug that you can click when looking around your cockpit. It spawns in your hand and you take sip, then it teleports back to the decor spot on the dashboard.

What is the actual practical point of a D-scanner?
So I got a question about the D-Scanner in Elite Dangerous. I thought the whole point was that it shows what’s in a system, right? But here’s the thing: I go into deep space and even without using the D-Scanner, I open the system map and I can already see every planet in there.
Like, yeah, it says "undiscovered" or whatever, so I don’t know details, but I know the bodies are there. So what’s the actual point of the D-Scanner then? Other than needing to ping it first before using the FSS. Because even without the D scanner I'm still getting basic info when I click on a planet.
I mean, I know the ship has a passive scanner, so that’s probably why I can see the bodies that are close to me. But still, I’m looking at planets that are tens of thousands of light-seconds away from where I jumped in. How is it tracking bodies that far out? Is it because other people have been there before and it’s pulling from that? Or am I missing some deeper mechanic here?
Is it just to get credits for cartographics?
Edit: Ok problem solved. From what I gathered in the comments, if I'm able to actually see bodies in a system (other than the star) before doing a dscan,
It's because someone has already not only visited that system, but also sent the data to cartographics.
When No one has ever visited a system, you will only see the star you jumped to. EVEN when you honk, you will not see where the bodies of that system is UNTIL you do an fss scan.
And I guess a little tidbit I'm inferring based on context: If someone does an fss scan but doesn't do it for EVERY body in that system(and then turns it in to cartographics), then that scanned body actually won't show up for other visitors as well. For example a system can say 10 bodies found in a system but your map only would show 9.
