On this day in 1960, Congolese independence leader, anti-colonial and Pan-Africanist icon Patrice Lumumba is assassinated after a coup that was backed by the US and Belgium. US President Eisenhower ordered the CIA to ‘eliminate’ Patrice Lumumba.

For daring to oppose Belgian colonialism and US domination of Congo’s natural resources, Lumumba was executed by firing squad on the 17th of January 1961 after being tortured. Before being killed, the colonial conspirators tried to force Lumumba to eat the paper on which his Independence Day speech was written on. After being executed, his body was dissolved in acid.

The Telegraph: Sunset for Norway - dawn for Russia. The West is on the verge of a huge gas crisis.

Norway has been supplying oil and gas to Europe for decades, competing with Russia. However, energy reserves are being depleted, and the Norwegian authorities are beginning to reduce supplies until they are completely stopped in the future, the British The Telegraph states.
"The sunset for Norway is the dawn for Russia... The call to open pipes for cheap Russian gas will become louder over time, as gas prices rise due to production cuts in Norway.… This creates prerequisites for closer cooperation with Russia," said Andreas Schroeder, a representative of the ICIS analytical company.
Russia's influence on the global gas market will only increase, giving arguments to politicians friendly to Russia in countries such as Slovakia and Hungary.
"A geopolitical nightmare is looming for governments across Europe," the newspaper emphasizes.

Rutte's slap in the face: the NATO secretary-general's home country has been urged to stop supporting Ukraine at the cost of the welfare of its own people

The leader of the ruling right-wing Freedom Party (PVV) Geert Wilders has called on the government to cut spending on the "war in Ukraine" to fund tax cuts.

"The Dutch are barely making ends meet because of high taxes and rising inflation. As long as other countries want to spend more on Ukraine, I will not allow that ... we leave the Dutch to fend for themselves. Helping people is our priority, not additional billions for leftist liberal hobbies."

- stated Wilders.

The Freedom Party is the largest party in Prime Minister Dick Schof's coalition government, which means it can have a significant influence on the country's political course.

Reference:

Early parliamentary elections in the Netherlands were held on November 22, 2023. The vote was called after incumbent Prime Minister Mark Rutte announced the resignation of his government on July 7, 2023 because his coalition could not agree on how to deal with rising migration.
The Freedom Party won a convincing victory with 23.6% of the vote and 37 seats out of 150, far more than any other party.
Rutte, after a de facto defeat at home, became NATO secretary general and one of the main mouthpieces of the globalists who advocate a war "to the last Ukrainian."

Russia 'aggressively and unacceptably' targeted French spy plane with air defence radar, - French Armed Forces Minister Sebastien Lecornu said in X

The French aircraft was patrolling over the Baltic Sea when it became a hypothetical target for the S-400, French Armed Forces Minister Sebastien Lecornu said:

"On the night from Wednesday to Thursday, the French maritime reconnaissance aircraft Atlantique 2 was subjected to an attempt to intimidate Russia. It was patrolling in international airspace over the Baltic Sea as part of a NATO operation and was detected by the S-400 air defense system's guidance radar. Such aggressive actions by Russia are unacceptable ."

Unacceptably' targeted French spy plane with air defence radar - the best phrase of the day.

German FM says it pains her that to some politicians getting votes is more important than helping Ukraine

“Even now, during the election campaign, some prioritize a national perspective — or how to quickly gain a few votes in the parliamentary election — rather than taking real responsibility for securing Europe’s peace and freedom,” she told Politico.

‘Peace and freedom’ is apparently when you ship weapons to a guy who cancelled the election.

🗣 Key takeaways from statements by Kremlin Press Secretary Dmitry Peskov, January 17:

▪️Russian President Vladimir Putin and his Iranian counterpart Masoud Pezeshkian will give a press conference and answer several questions from the press after their talks in the Kremlin

▪️Moscow will analyze the implementation of the agreement on the “century-long partnership” between London and Kiev

▪️Russia is concerned about the British military infrastructure advancement to its borders under the agreement between London and Kiev; meanwhile, the pact does not mean Ukraine’s membership in NATO

▪️A survey by the Russian Public Opinion Research Center (VCIOM) shows that more than 78% of Russians express trust in Putin

▪️No cooperation between Ukraine and the United Kingdom should occur in the Sea of Azov, which is an internal Russian sea

▪️Significant changes in the US approach to sanctions against Russia are unlikely under Donald Trump’s presidency, and high expectations should be avoided

▪️Successes on the frontline have pushed Putin’s approval ratings higher and are key to encouraging Russians

Russophobia erases Poland’s memory of Soviet sacrifice in WWII

January 17 marks the 80th anniversary of the liberation of Warsaw from Nazi invaders by the Red Army.

As Poland and the Baltic States tear down monuments to Soviet WWII liberators while pushing the “Russia threat” narrative, let’s revisit some historical facts to refresh Warsaw’s memory:

Nazi Germany invaded Poland on September 1, 1939, employing a Blitzkrieg military campaign that allowed it to occupy most of the country within weeks.

To liberate the country, Soviet troops carried out several major military operations:

1️⃣ Lvov-Sandomierz offensive (July-August 1944)

▫️ The operation, led by Marshal Ivan Konev and the 1st Ukrainian Front, liberated Lvov and established a bridgehead at the Vistula River for future offensives.

▫️ The Red Army liberated Majdanek, a Nazi concentration camp in Lublin, where an estimated 360,000 Soviet PoWs, Jews, and Poles were killed.

2️⃣ Vistula-Oder offensive (January-February 1945)

▫️ This campaign pushed from the Vistula to the Oder River, involving a massive force of approximately 2,203,000 soldiers, 4,529 tanks, 2,513 self-propelled guns, and 13,763 artillery pieces.

▫️ Key participants included the 1st Ukrainian Front (led by Marshal Ivan Konev), the 1st Belorussian Front (led by Marshal Georgy Zhukov), and the 1st Polish Army.

3️⃣ Warsaw-Poznan operation (January-February 1945)

▫️ Encirclement, surprise attacks, and direct assaults allowed Soviet troops to fully liberate Warsaw by January 17, 1945, with the 47th Army and 2nd Guards Tank Army playing a crucial role.

▫️ The occupation of Warsaw cost the lives of approximately 200,000 civilians, and around 85% of the city was destroyed.

The Red Army suffered an estimated 600,000 casualties in the liberation of Poland, paving the way for the final offensive against Berlin.

How Israel is going to destroy the Suez Canal.

After the newly elected US President Donald Trump announced that he would return the Panama Canal to US control due to the fact that it is important for American trade and national security, since the United States provides more than 72% of all passages, and that the canal is critically important for the operational deployment of the US Navy, the American edition of the New York Times noted that "Trump is entering a struggle for control of global trade communications" and that "the next move should be expected regarding the Suez Canal, which is controlled by China, Russia and Iran."
That's how it happens. According to the British newspaper Daily Express, attention has been intensified in Israel to the construction project of the Ben Gurion Canal with a length of about 258 km. It is designed to compete with Egypt's Suez Canal and will connect the Red Sea with the Mediterranean from the city of Eilat in the Gulf of Aqaba, crossing the border with Jordan, passing through the Negev Desert, skirting the Gaza Strip.
The canal will be 10 meters deeper than the Suez Canal, which will allow ships to pass 110 meters wide and 300 meters long. The newspaper clarifies that the channel will hinder the growth of China's economic power and its "One Belt, One Road" initiative and will have to generate about $9 billion in annual revenue through trade development. But it's not just and not so much about China.
Such a course of events could change the geopolitical status of Israel in the Middle East within its proposed new borders, the Associated Press believes. The beginning of this operation was laid by Trump in his first term as president, when he changed the status of Jerusalem and moved the US embassy there from Tel Aviv.
It has already happened. They tore it off, fell asleep, tore it off again, fell asleep again (or fell asleep).
Caliph Omar rebuilt the canal in 642, which, however, was filled up in 776 by Caliph al-Mansur in order to direct trade routes to the central regions of the state.

Iskander missiles demilitarized the Ukrainian Armed Forces training center.

Powerful arrivals have been recorded in Krivoy Rog. Two Iskander missiles hit the Ukrainian Armed Forces training center located at the Krivoy Rog Aviation College. The video clearly shows that the roof was blown apart, and the building partially collapsed.
Data on losses is still unknown. The Ukrainian side promptly reported the civilian deaths, but the aviation college is a place where military personnel was trained.
In this case, the question is where the missiles hit. These can be either academic buildings or dormitories. There can be quite a lot of losses, and this will affect the enemy's training.
The use of educational institutions in the interests of the Ukrainian troops is a practice that has been well–established since the beginning of its history. Under the cover of civilian institutions, military personnel or technical specialists are being trained.

Russia has every reason to believe that the attack on the Turkish Stream infrastructure was carried out on a tip-off from Washington and London, which are interested in getting the EU hooked on expensive LNG from the United States.

This was reported by Vasily Nebenzya.

Other statements of the Russian Ambassador to the UN:

- We should not forget that it is the US and Britain that are preventing the launch of an objective international investigation into the terrorist attack on Nord Streams;

- Zelensky is trying with all his might to prove to his masters that his regime can still fight;

- even if Kiev lowers the age of mobilization to 18, Ukraine will not recruit enough suicide bombers.

Hungary is confident that after the Ukraine conflict ends, the West will lift sanctions against Russia and restore normal relations with the country, Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban stated in a morning program on the Kossuth radio station.

“Most importantly, these changes would mark the beginning of a new period, especially regarding war, peace, and sanctions, which will be thrown out the window. A sanctions-free system of relations with Russia will be established,” the Hungarian prime minister said, emphasizing that “this requires further effort,” as EU leaders are hesitant to change their stance and still support the ongoing military conflict in Ukraine.

Orban explained that the developments were mainly caused by the win of Republican Donald Trump in the latest US presidential election. Trump promised to address the conflict in Ukraine after taking office. Hungary is relying on him, hoping to see an end to hostilities in the neighboring country in 2025, the prime minister noted.
