Per one report out of England, Bayern Munich is keeping a close eye on Liverpool FC goalkeeper Alisson Becker as an option to take over for Neuer when he finally calls it a career: According to The Sun, Liverpool goalkeeper Alisson Becker is being eyed for a move by German giants Bayern Munich.They are looking to replace legendary goalkeeper Manuel Neuer at the end of the season and Alisson is one of the candidates they have identified for the goalkeeping position.The 28-year-old Neuer is reaching the final stages of his career and in the last two seasons, he has gone through some serious injury issues.The German goalkeeper has made just 35 Bundesliga appearances in the last two seasons due to his fitness concerns.His contract at the Allianz Arena is set to expire at the end of this season and with his future up in the air, the German club have earmarked Alisson as Neuer’s potential replacement.Liverpool signed goalkeeper Giogi Mamardashvili this summer and sent him on loan to Valencia for this season.The Georgian goalkeeper will arrive at the club next summer and he is going to compete for a starting spot with the Brazilian goalkeeper.Alisson has been a fantastic servant for the Reds, helping them win the Premier League and the Champions League titles.His loss will be huge for Liverpool if he leaves the club at the end of the season.Unless Bayern Munich has gone through a turnaround with how it feels about Nübel, this seems like a longshot. According to reports, the Premier League is considering shifting the deadline of the summer transfer window to a much earlier date - August 15th, instead of the regular August 30th. Starting from 2025, the transfer window could potentially close a full 15 days earlier than it normally would, and has been. The aim is to close the window before the first games of the Premier League, which would make sense, because it would imply that clubs would not be able to make changes to their squads after the first games. However, the proposed change in deadline could also create a lack of competition towards the beginning of the season. The same idea was proposed and implemented back in 2018, but was very quickly binned, owing to English clubs feeling ‘vulnerable’ to last-minute attempts from other European clubs to buy their players. However, this time, the expectation is that all other European leagues will follow their example and also change their summer deadline. Unlike 2018, though, Saudi Arabia is now a major player in football transfer decisions. But this idea is not likely to be followed in the Middle Eastern country, considering that their transfer deadline is already after European deadlines. What do you think? Bayern Munich is currently in the midst of negotiating a new deal for Jamal Musiala, as his current contract with the club is set to run through June 2026. Initial discussions have reportedly gone positively between the player and the club, so it now only seems like a matter of time before a new contract is signed by Musiala and officially announced by the club. Reports earlier this week had suggested that, despite heavy interest from other clubs across Europe’s top five leagues, Bayern was in pole position to keep hold of the playmaker and get him to sign a new, long-term deal.Bayern club president Herbert Hainer recently weighed in on Musiala’s current situation and echoed the sentiment from the front office and supervisory board. It is clear the club wants him to stay for as long as possible and they are open to making him one of the highest paid players at Bayern since he currently earns roughly 9-million euro per year.“I have to say that we adore our Jamal, he is a once in a century footballer, and our first aim is of course to keep him at FC Bayern in the long term,” Hainer recently told Abendzeitung’s Maximilian Koch (via @iMiaSanMia). That opinion is shared with essentially everyone at the club, but it is really just down to a matter of negotiating and fine-tuning all of the details that would be contained in the new contract. Bayern is ready to offer considerable money, especially with how well he is already getting along with new manager Vincent Kompany. The final training takes place tomorrow (14:00 CEST) before flying to Birmingham.Kane’s status will likely be in doubt until the opening whistle. After a phenomenal start to the league season, Bayern II have now conspired to go winless in the last 4 matches. This was a slight improvement on the previous match, in which Bayern badly struggled, in that the first half was pretty good, buoyed by a goal of the season contender from Luca Denk in the 40th minute. On a weekend in which Aleksandar Pavlović scored an absolute screamer, this goal was probably somehow even better.But yet again, things fell apart in the second half and the team’s old habits of losing the ball incredibly cheaply and allowing easy counterattacks through a soft midfield returned, leading to a very well deserved comeback from Buchbach. Bayern II somehow remains in 5th despite the recent poor form, but is now 9 points behind first placed 1. FC Schweinfurt (though with a game in hand). The team’s next match, and last one before the international break, will be against Eintracht Bamberg on Thursday, October 3rd at 12:00PM CST. Hopefully, the international break will give some of the countless injured players enough time to make a full comeback.Greuther Fürth U-19 0-8 Bayern U-19Bayern lineup: Klanac - Dalpiaz, Mijatović (64. Despite the perfect record in the league, Bayern had won 5 of the past 6 matches by just one goal (and lost the other) as the opposition continually gave Bayern a run for their money. Those kind of matches are invaluable when it comes to developing as a young player, but sometimes a blow out win is fun, too. This was, of course, a victory of the latter kind as the team racked up an incredible 8 goals to celebrate a really comfortable win.Of course, such a game gets easier to win when one is gifted two penalties inside the first 3 minutes by the opposition. The first came within 30 seconds and the second 2 minutes later, both originating from extremely clumsy challenges by the opposition. While Jussef Nasrawe scored the first penalty, Louis Richter missed the second one. Still, Noah Codjo-Evora scored a second and then it became the Magnus Dalpiaz show. The right back, yes, RIGHT BACK showed the finishing of a forward as he scored 4 goals this match to put Greuther Fürth to the sword.This result sees Bayern move to 24 points from 8 games and remain 9 points clear of second placed SpVgg Unterhaching in 2nd in the table with 6 games to go. The team’s next match will be against Aston Villa away in the UEFA Youth League on Wednesday, October 2nd at 7:00AM CST. As we turn the calendar from September to October, we see most of Europe in full action. This is no different for Bayern Munich loanees. In the past two weeks, we have had numerous big clashes in league games, a few cup games, and the return of the Champions League — spoiler alert: things didn’t go great in the UCL for our loanees. You will also find a few goals, yellow cards, and a big upset in Spain. Check it out!Author’s note: sorry for the lengthy article. I was travelling last weekend and always think that I will write this article from my hotel room, but never have!FC Bayern MunichThere are nine players on loan from the first team.Germany – BundesligaThere are five players on loan in the German Bundesliga: Alexander Nübel, Franz Krätzig, Paul Wanner, and Armando Sieb.Alexander Nübel – VfB StuttgartNübel and co. opened their Champions League campaign with a trip to the Bernabéu to face Real Madrid. For a short time, it looked like Stuttgart could have escaped with a point, with the score level at 1-1 as late as the 80th minute. Unfortunately for Nübel and his team, he had two awful errors that led to Madrid's final goals in the 83rd and 95th minutes. Stuttgart followed up with a huge win back in league play that following weekend at home against Borussia Dortmund. Nübel was not called on often, but made two saves when needed and only allowed one goal. Stuttgart scored five goals and went onto beat Dortmund 5-1.Stuttgart traveled to face Wolfsburg this weekend. Nübel did not record a save, but allowed two goals — the second coming just minutes after Stuttgart went down to 10 men. It took until the seventh minute of stoppage time for Stuttgart to equalize and salvage a point on the road. Franz Krätzig – VfB Stuttgart Krätzig was on the bench for the Champions League match and the league match against Dortmund, but did not make it onto the pitch in either match. He was not listed on the matchday squad this weekend against Wolfsburg. Stuttgart plays twice at home this week: first in Champions League against Sparta Prague and then on Sunday against Hoffenheim in Bundesliga play. Paul Wanner – 1.FC HeidenheimWanner started last weekend at home against Freiburg. It was not a great game for Heidenheim, nor Wanner. He only had 33 touches in 71 minutes and was not able to record a shot or create a chance for his teammates to shoot. Heidenheim followed up their loss to Dortmund with 3-0 loss to Freiburg.Wanner started again this weekend on the road to Mainz. He had one shot from inside the box, which was blocked before it got to goal. He also created a chance for his teammate to shoot. He was not able to influence a goal directly, but Heidenheim was up 1-0 when he left the match in the 70th minute and then added a second late to win 2-0.Heidenheim will open their Conference League campaign on Thursday at home against Slovenian side Olimpija Ljubljana. They also host RB Leipzig in league play on Sunday.Armando Sieb – 1. FSV Mainz 05Sieb started for Mainz on the road against Augsburg. He got the scoring started with a header from the edge of the six-yard box that beat the keeper. Mainz scored just minutes later with another header, before Augsburg pulled one back ten minutes later in the 25th minute. Ten after that, Mainz went down a man after Amiri received two yellows in two minutes. Sieb was taken off shortly after to make adjustments to the 10-man team. This decision ultimately paid off as Mainz went on to win 3-1 in a match that ended with 10 players each.Sieb was on the bench for Mainz’s match against Wanner and Heidenheim and came into the match in the 60th minute. His team was once again down a man after a first half red card. He was not able to influence the match in that final 30 minutes and saw his team allow a late goal to fall 2-0 at home.Gabriel Vidović – 1. Vincent Kompany’s perfect start to life as Bayern Munich manager was ended with Bayern Munich’s 1-1 draw with Bayer Leverkusen at the Allianz Arena, but his side put forth a performance that was quite arguably deserving of maximum points. Robert Andrich’s sublime volley put Die Werkself in front in the 31st minute against the run of play, but it didn’t take Bayern too long to equalize through a sensational long-range volley from Aleksandar Pavlović. The effort from the midfielder was indicative of Bayern’s overall performance on the night, but they just could not find a way to score their second goal despite out-shooting Leverkusen 18-3. Serge Gnabry came ever so close at the start of the second half when he struck the post with a left-footed effort from a Harry Kane cross and his rebound attempt struck the crossbar. Due to Bayern’s dominance, it felt more like points dropped than a point earned, but there performance was refreshing enough nonetheless.After that match, keeper Manuel Neuer spoke about how the overall performance on the heels of how Bayern has been playing so far this season should give them every bit of confidence pushing onward. “We have confidence back again. No matter which team we’re playing against, even against Leverkusen. We’re sticking to our style, we’ve been dominant. That’s something different than before. The sense of certainty that Kompany gives each individual player is noticeable on the pitch, the connection we have. We’re playing as a team,” he explained to Bild (via @iMiaSanMia). On paper, Leverkusen was, without a trace of doubt, the toughest test yet for Kompany and Bayern this season, even though the reigning Bundesliga champions have already had a slip-up in the league by virtue of a 3-2 loss to RB Leipzig. Tougher tests will continue to come for Bayern, too. In the span of the rest of the month, they have matches against Aston Villa, Eintracht Frankfurt, VfB Stuttgart and Barcelona, arguably trickier opponents than the likes of Werder Bremen, Holstein Kiel, Dinamo Zagreb, SC Freiburg, VfL Wolfsburg, and SSV Ulm. While Bayern Munich’s 1-1 draw against Bundesliga champions Bayer Leverkusen yesterday could have gone better, the fans could overall be satisfied by a dynamic display of attacking football that had not been seen at the club for quite some time.However, it is only human nature to want more and more regardless of what you already have, and the Bayern ultras decided to make their feelings heard on what was otherwise a festive occasion.This particular protest was about the new jerseys of the current season. As the fans all know, Bayern’s current home kit is red and black, a slight departure from its traditional red and white colors. If anything, it resembles a South Korea kit more than a typical Bayern kit. This is the second consecutive year that adidas have provided Bayern with a rather unorthodox kit, with the previous season’s home kit being primarily white instead of red.The ultras are clearly displeased at this lack of respect for the club’s colors, so they have been staging protests even before the start of the season, from the kit’s debut match against Wolfsburg last season, as a matter of fact.This time, they went a step further and not only criticized the home kit’s colors, but also the usage of the new Oktoberfest kit against Leverkusen. This writer has already written a piece covering that here. That said, it might seem a bit hypocritical to some that the ultras are now pining for a kit that they have been protesting since its release. If anything, the kit protests by the ultras could be considered to be a tad rich by some fans. Football kits are now fast becoming fashionable items even off the pitch, and design is definitely more important than it was in the past, but at the end of the day, what matters most is how the team performs in the kits, not the kits themselves. That’s not to say some of the protests haven’t been warranted (such as the one for the god awful mint away kit in 2018/19), but still, there are worse things to complain about.Despite the protests, though, the current Wiesn kit is immensely popular with international fans. On the fifth Bundesliga matchday, Bayern Munich finally dropped points but stayed undefeated, along with RB Leipzig. St. Pauli pulled off an unlikely upset, Hoffenheim blew a 3-0 lead, and Frankfurt is the only Bundesliga squad to win both of its last two matches.As the top teams dive into European competitions, the hectic schedule is creating unexpected results. Bayern’s depth keeps them better suited to handle the workload than the other title contenders, but the rotational players need to find a way to have a larger effect late in the game.This series will recap each team’s performance and rank the Bundesliga teams following each matchday. The ranking system is based on the quality of performances, opponents, and recent matches.1) Bayern MunichPrevious Ranking: 1Bundesliga Form: WWWWDResult: 1-1 draw vs Bayer LeverkusenWith 69% possession and 18 shots, it’s truly shocking that Bayern only scored one goal. Leverkusen parked the bus and kept Bayern’s front four held in check the entire night. Joshua Kimmich and Aleksandar Pavlović patrolled the midfield and kept the ball moving, plus Pavlović scored an absolute cracker of a volley to tie the game in the 39th minute. 2) Eintracht FrankfurtPrevious Ranking: 4Bundesliga Form: LWWWWResult: 4-2 win vs Holstein KielFrankfurt forfeited a lead on two different occasions but Omar Marmoush dragged his team across the finish line with a brace and an assist. Marmoush’s game winner also puts him alone at the top of the Golden Boot race with six goals on the season. Frankfurt definitely played down to the opponent’s skill level but ultimately did enough to earn three points.3) Bayer LeverkusenPrevious Ranking: 2Bundesliga Form: WLWWDResult: 1-1 draw at Bayern MunichLeverkusen didn’t play like the defending champs, instead playing a passive formation that virtually eliminated Victor Boniface and Florian Wirtz from the match. In the 31st minute, Robert Andrich scored off Leverkusen’s only corner kick. In hindsight, claiming points at Bayern will be unusual outcome for opponents this season. 4) RB LeipzigPrevious Ranking: 6Bundesliga Form: WWDDWResult: 4-0 win vs AugsburgAfter a lifeless draw against St. Pauli last weekend, Leipzig came out firing on all cylinders. The attack was dangerous from all sides, and Benjamin Šeško had a brace in the first 15 minutes. Loïs Openda continues to be the talisman for Leipzig, adding a goal of his own in the 46th minute. After an assist earlier in the match, Xavi Simons closed out the scoring account in the 57th minute.5) Borussia DortmundPrevious Ranking: 7Bundesliga Form: WDWLWResult: 4-2 win vs VfL Bochum Things were looking grim for Dortmund before Guirassy scored for the third consecutive match right before halftime. Guirassy went on to earn a penalty and finish off his brace in the second half. This is the kind of resilient win that Dortmund has failed to produce since winning the league in 2011.6) StuttgartPrevious Ranking: 5Bundesliga Form: LDWWDResult: 2-2 draw at WolfsburgAfter captain Atakan Karazor was sent off with his second yellow card, Stuttgart played the final 30 minutes down a goal and a man. Luckily Deniz Undav found himself unmarked in stoppage time and Stuttgart stole a valuable point on the road. Ermedin Demirović was unusually quiet while the left flank of Maximilian Mittelstädt, Angelo Stiller, and Jamie Leweling delivered another solid outing.7) FreiburgPrevious Ranking: 3Bundesliga Form: WLWWLResult: 3-0 loss vs St. PauliMurphy’s Law was in full effect in the biggest upset of the weekend. Freiburg’s sturdy defense was lost in the box. Noah Atubolu gave up a howler on the third goal. Reliable and unpredictable penalty taker Vincenzo Grifo got stonewalled.
