FC Bayern München v VfB Stuttgart - Bundesliga Photo by Christina Pahnke - sampics/Getty Images Not so great news... As Bayern Munich recorded a wonderful 4-0 win over VfB Stuttgart, Aleksandar Pavlović went down after a tough fall on his shoulder in the eighth minute and was deemed unable to carry on and replaced by João Palhinha.Talking post-game, Sporting Director Max Eberl offers news about the extent of the young superstar’s injury (via @iMiaSanMia):Max Eberl says Aleks Pavlović is likely to have broken his collarbone. He’s currently undergoing tests. This is certainly not a favorable diagnosis for Bayern as the very next game is a midweek clash against FC Barcelona. Fans will hope that the injury is not as serious as initially gauged and that in the meantime, Palhinha can hold down the fort as he did so excellently tonight.Get well soon, Aleks! — how do you think this injury affects Bayern? Will Bayern be able to sustain this newfound form without him? Tell us in the comments below!

FC Bayern München v VfB Stuttgart - Bundesliga Photo by Adam Pretty/Getty Images The injury gods have no boundaries... Bayern Munich midfielder Aleksandar Pavlović was forced to leave today’s game due to injury in the eight minute after being low-bridged by VfB Stuttgart’s Fabian Rieder.Pavlović had skied upward in hopes of winning an aerial ball, but Reider slipped under him to make contact and send the Germany international down to the grass hard. As pictures will show, the youngster did not brace himself for the fall. Pavlović was seen holding his shoulder as he left the pitch, but it is unclear on what exactly the injury is or what the severity might be. Regardless, Pavlović is out of action for the rest of the day. Aleksandar Pavlovic #FCBVfB pic.twitter.com/5M6OmlG0W5— H (@HQpcrt) October 19, 2024João Palhinha, Bayern Munich’s summer transfer prize, was dusted off and came on for Pavlović. Luckily for Bayern Munich coach Vincent Kompany, the central midfield is one of the strongest areas of the squad with Pavlović, Palhinha, Kimmich, Leon Goretzka, and Konrad Laimer all populating the depth chart at the position. Hopefully, Pavlović’s injury is nothing serious and his exit was just a precautionary measure.

Eintracht Frankfurt v FC Bayern München - Bundesliga Photo by Alex Grimm/Getty Images Going FOUR games winless would be unthinkable. MATCHDAY! With the international break now over, Bayern Munich are back in action versus VfB Stuttgart, and are looking to prove that the winless streak is a thing of the past. Three games without a win isn’t a crisis at most clubs, but here? You can be certain that Vincent Kompany is feeling the pressure. He’s likely not the only one. Harry Kane is in the middle of a mini goal-drought for club and country, having failed to score in the last three weeks. Dayot Upamecano and Kim Min-jae have been dragged by the media for their roles in the leaky defense that conceded goals against Aston Villa and Eintracht Frankfurt. Manuel Neuer and Thomas Müller may be playing for the final contract extensions of their career. Meanwhile, Stuttgart come into the game with a point to prove after their solid start to the season. 1. FC Heidenheim 1846 v FC Bayern München - Bundesliga Photo by Alexander Hassenstein/Getty Images Just a friendly dig. In a long interview with kicker, former Bayern Munich CEO Karl-Heinz Rummenigge was asked about the upcoming clash against FC Barcelona, specifically a comparison between Harry Kane and their current striker — Robert Lewandowski. Rummenigge, himself a Ballon d’Or winning striker, was effusive in his praise for both players.“There are a few transfers that were essential for the club,” began KHR. “One of them was the transfer of Robert Lewandowski. He’s a goal machine and a really good guy. I’ve never seen a more honest player than him. I could talk to him about anything. He always gave me an honest answer — and not one that was pre-fabricated or to his advantage. You have to understand that this is not quite usual, because my job was to promote the good of the club and not just his good.”“Ultimately, Robert was an incredibly important advisor to me. You can discuss football with him at an immensely high level, and he is also extremely clever.”On a comparison between Lewy and Kane, he said, “I hope that Harry wins trophies this year. Otherwise it will soon get on his nerves [laughs].”“He’s a great guy who fits in well with Bayern Munich and people love him,” continued Rummenigge. “He plays well, he scores goals, he looks great on FC Bayern and we are happy that he’s playing here. And what if he didn’t score? I once went ten games without scoring a goal and everyone shook their heads in amazement. That can happen. Then came a game where I scored three goals against Nürnberg — in the end we became champions and I won the top scorer award.”Translated quotes via @MiaSanMia on Twitter. Aston Villa FC v FC Bayern M¸nchen - UEFA Champions League 2024/25 League Phase MD2 Photo by Jacques Feeney/Offside/Offside via Getty Images Get that contract extension done stat. Rumors linking Bayern Munich midfielder Joshua Kimmich with a transfer away from the German record champions seem to have all but dissipated. Now all the talk is of a very long stay with the Bavarians — perhaps matching that of Manuel Neuer and Thomas Müller, alongside whom Kimmich serves as one of the team’s captains. “Joshua Kimmich is an outstanding character that gives everything in every game,” said Bayern CEO Jan-Christian Dreesen at the start of the season, in comments captured via @iMiaSanMia. “Sometimes even with too much ambition. [Bayern coach] Vincent Kompany made it clear early on that he’s relying on him. I think Joshua feels comfortable in Munich. Everything else will emerge from the talks with [sporting bosses] Max Eberl and Christoph Freund.”Indeed, Kimmich is so intense he sometimes needs to be reigned in. For the Bavarians that is exactly the kind of player they would like to lock down.

Aston Villa FC v FC Bayern München - UEFA Champions League 2024/25 League Phase MD2 Photo by Jose Breton/Pics Action/NurPhoto via Getty Images The Bavarians are prioritizing the Champions League with their ailing young star. Bayern Munich is being very careful with Jamal Musiala, who is set to miss this weekend’s clash vs. VfB Stuttgart. The 21-year-old has been out of action since coming on for the second half of Bayern’s 1-0 loss to Aston Villa in the UEFA Champions League. That was on October 2nd — and now it is the Champions League again, and familiar foes FC Barcelona, that Bayern is targeting his return. From Tz’s Philipp Kessler and Manuel Bonke, as captured via @iMiaSanMia:Jamal Musiala is expected to make his comeback against Barcelona next week. Bayern didn’t want to take any risks with the 21-year old with a view to the Barça game. It was already clear last week that he would miss the game against Stuttgart [@mano_bonke, @kessler_philipp]Musiala has been dealing with a hip injury behind the scenes that and had previously missed a Bundesliga match this month at Eintracht Frankfurt as a result. Veteran Thomas Müller should continue to see more playing time in his absence.Looking to get ready for Bayern Munich’s big Bundesliga showdown with VfB Stuttgart? FC Bayern Munich Training Session Photo by S. Mellar/FC Bayern via Getty Images The new coach is bringing some old school intensity back to Bavaria and Müller is here for it. Can you tell that Thomas Müller is happy with the Vincent Kompany era at Bayern Munich? The Raumdeuter, an elder statesman at Bayern these days, always strikes an even tone even in uneven times. But the contrast between Müller’s effusive remarks these days and his strong but decidedly cordial reinforcement of Thomas Tuchel last season is stark.“You have to say, the way we’re playing football at the moment is fun,” Müller said in an easygoing interview for FCBayern.com in late September (as captured by @iMiaSanMia). “Now you can say, sure, there are a lot of goals. But I see the goals more as a consequence of our style of play and how we bring it to life on the pitch. “And that’s something that hasn’t been there in this dimension for a long time. There have certainly been some good games in recent years. But I think this dominance, this domination of the opponent, is something new. You have to be honest about that. And yes, it feels good.”Müller might not be playing any more this season under Kompany than last under Tuchel, but the veteran’s excitement is palpable.

VfB Stuttgart v TSG 1899 Hoffenheim - Bundesliga Photo by Christian Kaspar-Bartke/Getty Images Could VfB Stuttgart take a different approach against Bayern Munich? Former Bayern Munich II coach Sebastian Hoeneß is doing a tremendous job at VfB Stuttgart, but knows that he will have his hands full this weekend when he returns to the Allianz Arena. “Bayern are back to their old strength, they’re playing with a lot of intensity and running a lot, even though they have the most possession in the league. They are very well prepared, Vincent Kompany seems to be doing a good job. Bayern have an outstandingly good squad, but we want to try to take our chances and play a more open game than last year [in Munich],” said Hoeneß (as captured by @iMiaSanMia). a More open would seemingly benefit Bayern Munich. FC Bayern München v VfB Stuttgart - Bundesliga Photo by Adam Pretty/Getty Images Individual quality bailed the team out. This nearly looked like a match where Bayern Munich got most of the possession and nothing to show for it, but fortunately Harry Kane snapped out of his first-half doldrums and dropped a hat-trick on Stuttgart’s heads which Kingsley Coman topped off with a goal of his own. Apart from that, what else was prevalent in this match? Why is Serge Gnabry still being picked?Singling out players is never a good thing, but if he can’t make a case for himself, it has to be done. Gnabry is realistically never going back to his 2019/20 levels and he’s also wildly inconsistent. Missing a near-guaranteed goal and falling over under little pressure from the Stuttgart defenders is not a good look.Harry Kane regains his golden touchKane had gone a fair number of matches without scoring a goal, and now he scored a hat-trick out of nothing to rescue Bayern from yet another mediocre performance. Despite the missed chances in the game, this was a much-needed break for the England captain, and this will surely help the team moving forward.João Palhinha actually existsUnfortunately for Aleksandar Pavlović, he had to be brought off for a slight knock and summer arrival João Palhinha came on for him. After some time of not playing any minutes, the Portuguese midfielder finally got game time under his belt. He played surprisingly well in this match, which helps his case if he were to play more in the future. Start packing your bags, Goretzka.

U21 Germany v U21 Bulgaria - UEFA Under21 EURO Qualifier Photo by Marcel Engelbrecht - firo sportphoto/Getty Images The not-so Prodigal Son returns... Bayern Munich loanee Frans Krätzig is enjoying his time with VfB Stuttgart so far, but is looking forward to returning to the Allianz Arena on Saturday. “I’m really looking forward to it, as it’s something like a clash between my home clubs. When we get back together after the international break, we want to achieve a lot with Stuttgart. That will be very difficult in Munich, but with so many internationals at VfB, we’re also going into the game with a lot of confidence. We want to show what we’re capable of at the Allianz Arena on Saturday,” Krätzig told FCBayern.com.Sa far, Krätzig has one assist in three games playing as a left-back for VfB Stuttgart. Germany international Maximilian Mittelstädt has been a roadblock for Krätzig’s playing time, but the youngster is gaining valuable Bundesliga experience just by being in Stuttgart’s first-team training environment every day. Bayern Munich board member for sport Max Eberl admires the work that VfB Stuttgart is doing from afar. “It’s been fun to watch Stuttgart. We’re looking forward to the game. One of the players who has helped VfB Stuttgart become a force in the Bundesliga is Bayern Munich loanee Alexander Nübel.“We’ve obviously got an eye on him, like all other players out on loan. Eintracht Frankfurt v FC Bayern München - Bundesliga Photo by Alex Grimm/Getty Images Time to get one over Die Schwaben... Fans of Germany were desperately disappointed by Julian Nagelsmann’s decision to not give Aleksandar Pavlović his first Germany start in the recent match against Bosnia and Herzegovina when the starting XI was announced. But that sentiment quickly changed when Pavlović was spotted warming up with a bandage on his left knee and it became apparent that the snub was due to injury. The bandage on the Bayern Munich player’s knee remains, but his fitness has now improved to the extent that he will be ready to start in Bayern’s weekend match against VfB Stuttgart, according to a report captured by @iMiaSanMia: Aleksandar Pavlović, who sustained a bruised knee during a training challenge with Jonathan Tah while in the national team, has trained normally today with a bandaged knee. The midfielder is ready for the game against StuttgartConsidering Pavlović finally managed to make his starting debut for Germany against Netherlands on Monday, it seems likely that this report is correct and that the Bayern Campus graduate will similarly be ready to start on the weekend. VfB Stuttgart v Borussia Dortmund - Bundesliga Photo by Sebastian El-Saqqa - firo sportphoto/Getty Images Manuel Neuer can’t play forever...can he? VfB Stuttgart CEO Alexander Wehrle thinks Alexander Nübel can step in at Bayern Munich when Manuel Neuer finally decides to step away from the club. “Definitely. Nübel figures to play a key role for VfB Stuttgart in its match this weekend against his parent club and Wehrle is ready to watch the showdown. “Bayern are definitely the clear favourites, no doubt about that. Bayer 04 Leverkusen v Holstein Kiel - Bundesliga Photo by Joris Verwijst/BSR Agency/Getty Images Bayern Munich vs. VfB Stuttgart....are you ready? Leverkusen looking to block Wirtz move to Bayern (@Plettigoal)It is no secret that Bayern Munich wants Bayer Leverkusen ace Florian Wirtz. It is also no secret that the two clubs have built up some heat in recent months, so Bayer Leverkusen is not too thrilled about the noise that a move could happen this summer. In fact, Die Werkself wants to “block” Wirtz from transferring to Bayern Munich, but — if things take a turn for the worse — want to at least ensure they make a nice chunk of change from a sale of Wirtz: Florian #Wirtz is FC Bayern’s top target for the coming summer. Max Eberl has already held initial talks, and Bayern are ready to spend a massive transfer fee ✔️However, Leverkusen are determined to block a move to Bayern! From Leverkusen’s perspective, Manchester City are currently the club showing the most serious interest in the 21y/o and making the strongest efforts at the moment. If Wirtz decides to leave, Bayer definitely want to make him their record sale.X account @iMiaSanMia added more context to Plettenberg’s report with additional information on what kind of fee Leverkusen wants: In case of a sale, Bayer Leverkusen’s goal is to get €90-100m plus X for Florian Wirtz. The X could be either add-ons or players included in the deal.Like the Leroy Sané pursuit, it just feels like Bayern Munich is on a mission with this potential transfer. It really feels like it is a matter of “when” and not “if” this happens. As expected, though, Bayer Leverkusen is going to attempt to make this as difficult a process as possible. Guler wants to stick it out with Madrid (Yagiz Sabuncuoglu via 90Min.com)Turkish phenom Arda Guler is not getting the kind of playing time that he wants, but he still is not considering a move (at least for now) away from the club:Arda Guler remains happy at Real Madrid and has no imminent plans to leave despite rumours suggesting he could return to Turkey.Bavarian Podcast Works — Weekend Warm-up Show Season 4, Episode 14 (Bavarian Football Works)Bayern Munich is back in action and — like always — there is a lot to talk about with the team. FC Bayern München v GNK Dinamo - UEFA Champions League 2024/25 League Phase MD1 Photo by Alex Grimm/Getty Images Would you be able to take in stride if a young upstart managed to get promoted ahead of you in no time? If I were earning their salaries, I would... In the 2023/24, Bayern Munich’s Leon Goretzka fought back from a poor start to regain a starting role for the vast majority of the season, João Palhinha was one of Fulham FC’s most important players while Aleksandar Pavlović enjoyed an impressive debut campaign that nonetheless saw him relegated to what was mostly a supporting role. But this season, with all three competing for playing time in Bayern’s midfield, Pavlović has the favor of new head coach Vincent Kompany and is leaving the competition in the dust, gathering nearly 4 times the amount of minutes Goretzka and Palhinha have assembled together.Despite this, Pavlović is sure that there are no hard feelings from his midfield subordinates competition. When asked about Palhinha, he admits he is proud on winning the battle: “Of course that makes me proud. Because he’s also a great player and a great teammate,” Pavlvović explained, as captured by @iMiaSanMia. “We get on well, everyone gives it their all. I’m just happy that I can play and show what I can do.”When it comes to Goretzka, the Bayern academy product is perhaps a little less outwardly happy about winning the battle: “It’s true that I get on very well with Leon. [Goretzka’s lack of game time is] a bit sad for him, but we still get on very well,” Pavlović assures, via @iMiaSanMia. “He’s always happy when I play well.” As Pavlović’s star for club and country continues to rise, Palhinha and Goretzka face the opposite fate. If this keeps up, will the two seasoned professionals maintain this happy demeanor or will some resentment start to settle in?Looking for more thoughts and analysis from Germany’s 1-0 victory over the Netherlands?
