The past week Britain has been inundated with violence. We are used to Britain exporting violence overseas, yet now it is home grown and multiplying.
The murder of three girls and maiming of several more in Southport rightly horrified the nation, and the response of those on the scene deserves to be lauded.
Britain is broken. It does not take a genius to comprehend that our system is collapsing. In every sense the system does not perform its function, with the single exception of the rich continuing to get richer. In fourteen years 300,000 British citizens have died due to austerity. It is a fact that highlights clearly that poverty and class is the primary antagonism in society.
The State and the Uni-party (Labour and Tories) has encouraged and accommodated division based on race, ethnicity and religion. In one breath it heaves racism and supports genocide, in the next it celebrates diversity. Amidst the polarisation of society, organisations like Hope Not Hate, have done everything in their power to direct disgruntled workers back towards the Labour party, back towards a failed system and a discredited political duopoly, all to prevent a unified, socialist opposition emerging which unites workers across divisions of race and religion.
The Workers Party is opposed to violence.

The Workers Party is opposed to attempts to use this crisis to extend the repressive powers of the State.
The Workers Party is committed to its aim to build a party of the British working class, uniting all sections of the British working class on the basis of our shared class interests.
The Workers Party has worked hard this last four years to offer a democratic alternative to the Uni-Party. We were attacked, verbally and physically for that, by the corporate media, by the ‘Left’ and by the ‘Right’, and even by the Prime Minister. The Uni-party has no answers to the problems we face. Now more than ever, Britain needs a Workers Party.
