Last time we covered royalties, now let’s dive into blockchain gas 👇
Network fee — is a payment for processing transactions. To buy/sell an NFT, you need to have a minimum of 0.3 GRAM on your balance: it's requested by the network's smart contract, and without this gas the transaction won't ride anywhere.
⚠️ What else: upfront fees and returns
You might wonder: "Do I need to pay 0.3 GRAM on every transaction?"
No, not the whole amount 💳
Due to the network architecture, it asks for a bit extra upfront so that the transaction is guaranteed not to get stuck.
As soon as the operation goes through, the blockchain automatically returns most of the amount back to your wallet. The actual fee ends up being just pennies.

💎 Royalties explained
New gems get tripped up by how the secondary market works — so let’s break down one of the most requested topics: royalties 👇
Royalties — are basically a % fee from every resale on the secondary market that goes straight back to the NFT Collection creator. This allows creators to earn from their art in the long run, not just a one-time profit during the primary sale.
⚠️ Important: domains and usernames
A frequent question is: "If I mint a domain, do I get royalties when it's resold?"
Nope. 😑👉🏻🚪
Registering a domain doesn’t make you the “creator” of the asset — you’re simply claiming a name onchain within an existing collection.
Royalties are credited to the creator of the Collection. If an NFT is added to an already existing collection, the reward goes to its creator, not the owner of the NFT itself.

To get started on TON, you’ll usually need a little GRAM — to cover network fees, buy Telegram Gifts, or send an NFT to a friend.
Here are the main ways to buy GRAM 💳
🌀 Centralized and decentralized exchanges
You can buy GRAM on centralized exchanges such as OKX, Bybit, or Gate, etc. These platforms may require identity verification, and your funds will remain on the exchange until you withdraw them.
Already have crypto in your TON wallet? You can also swap supported tokens for GRAM through a decentralized exchange.
To use your GRAM in TON apps, make sure to withdraw it to your wallet using the TON network.
🌀 P2P Market in Telegram
You can buy GRAM with local currency through the P2P Market in Crypto @Wallet.
Choose a suitable offer and payment method, transfer the agreed amount to the seller, and wait for them to confirm the payment. Once the order is completed, the GRAM will be credited to your Crypto Wallet balance.
To use it in TON apps, withdraw the GRAM to your external TON wallet.

Tonkeeper also lets you buy cryptocurrency through integrated third-party payment providers.
🤑 "How to withdraw money from Getgems?" — revealing another secret
Rookies often ask: "I sold an NFT, where are my coins on Getgems? How do I withdraw them?".
Plot twist: they’re not there. 🫡
Getgems does not store your money. And honestly, it doesn't want to 😌
That is exactly why there's no internal balance, no "Withdraw" button, and definitely no “your request will be processed within 3 business days.”
During a transaction, the NFT and coins remain in the buyer's and seller's wallets (Tonkeeper, Wallet etc.), and the smart contract via Getgems safely swaps them.
🤠 What does a non-custodial wallet mean?
It is a wallet that only you have access to.
Neither the marketplace nor the wallet developers have access to your assets.
That means:
• To top up your balance — send coins to your wallet.
• Sold an NFT — coins instantly land in your wallet. Nothing needs to be withdrawn from Getgems.
• Want to cash out coins from your wallet (for example, exchanging for local currency)? This is done from the wallet via exchanges or P2P.

💎 Onchain and offchain: where are your gifts stored?
Gifts can have two statuses. This post is for beginners to make it clear how both formats work:
📦 Offchain aka "outside the blockchain"
A gift that "lives" inside the Telegram database. It stays tied to your Telegram account.
Pros: easy transfer within Telegram (the first one after upgrading is free, following ones are 25 Stars each), and you can also trade them on Getgems.
@gemsrelayer: to sell an offchain gift or withdraw a purchased one to Telegram (via the "Withdraw" button), the official @gemsrelayer bot is used — it acts as a secure bridge.
Cons: not a full NFT yet. Can’t be sent to a regular crypto wallet. If you lose access to your Telegram account, you lose your Gifts too.
📦 Onchain — already on the blockchain
A gift that has been minted and turned into a real NFT on TON with a record in the blockchain. It is stored in your non-custodial wallet (like Tonkeeper or Wallet).
Features: complete ownership capabilities. You can transfer it to any TON address, trade on Getgems, or display it on your Telegram profile using Fragment.
💎 Gift minting explained
Last time we talked about TON network fees. Next up: turning Telegram gifts into NFTs 🐈⬛️
Minting — is the process of creating an NFT on the blockchain. The network assigns a unique place in the blockchain to the digital object, turning it into your personal secured property.
⚠️ Why are some Gifts marked as “offchain”?
Not every Telegram Gift is an NFT.
Initially, it may exist in an "offchain" format kept only inside Telegram. Moving it to the TON blockchain can be done directly inside the messenger.
But if you own the gift on Getgems (by previously transferring it to @gemsrelayer or purchasing it on the marketplace) → open the gift page on Getgems, hit the "Mint gift" button, and confirm the transaction in your wallet. It will require some network gas + a 0.2 GRAM fee.
Once minted, the "offchain" label disappears, your Gift becomes a proper onchain NFT in your wallet, and you can trade it on Getgems or show it off on your Telegram profile.

🪙 Toncoin Name Change — Community Vote
TON has changed substantially in recent months. Telegram is taking on a leading role in the network and is becoming its largest validator. The chain itself is now 10× faster with fees down 6×. Gram was the name the network's founders gave the token in the original TON White Paper, and it's never left the codebase.
That is why Telegram is proposing to rename the native token from Toncoin to Gram, a fitting moment to bring it forward.
The blockchain stays TON / The Open Network, only the token's name and ticker change. Balances, addresses, contracts, NFTs, staking, DeFi, all unchanged. No swap, bridge, claim, or migration. No action required.
