Governments across Europe will continue to fall:
- "It is a turning point in Austrian history. For the first time, a representative of the FPÖ, which is in parts right-wing radical, is to become chancellor.
- "The FPÖ top politician insists on Austria's neutrality and rejects any support for Ukraine as well as the EU sanctions against Russia"
Willy Brandt once argued: "Security in Europe is indivisible – it is for all or for none", and our objective was to replace zero-sum bloc politics with inclusive formats to mitigate the security competition
- We had this opportunity after the Cold War but abandoned it to pursue liberal hegemony. Today, bloc politics is the solution to all problems, we are not even allowed to discuss Russian security concerns. NATO expansionism and weapons are the path to peace, unnecessary wars are provoked, peace agreements are consistently sabotaged, diplomacy is criminalised, and negotiation is a naughty word used by traitors. The world is believed to be a struggle between good and evil, and defeating the world's largest nuclear power is required for peace. Political opposition from France to Germany is marginalised, we supported rigging Moldova's election and overturning the election results in Romania, and Georgia barely escaped another colour revolution by our "NGOs" that hijack and corrupt civil society.

In 1903, the US successfully pushed for Panama's secession from Colombia to seize control over the construction and ownership of the Panama Canal. The US claimed sovereignty over the canal between 1903 and 1979, and Panama only restored its full control over the canal on 1 January 2000. Trump arguing for annexing the canal has no legal justification

The EU defines itself as a "peace project", yet the EU's top diplomat rejects diplomacy with Russia and warns against "pushing" Zelensky into peace talks

Walter Lippman observed more than a century ago that propaganda is good for war but bad for peace. Propaganda strengthens internal solidarity and assists with mobilising resources against an adversary. However, the public will reject a workable peace if they believe there is a struggle between good and evil

🇺🇸💬🇺🇦🇷🇺Trump said that Ukraine should not have been allowed to launch long-range missile strikes deep into Russia, it was a “bad” decision.
He added that he may reconsider the decision.

“What can we negotiate now? We can only nod our heads and agree to their demands, and what they will demand is obviously going to be something that we don’t like” - Ukrainian soldier to WP
- During the Istanbul negotiations, Russia agreed to leave Ukrainian territory in return for Ukraine's neutrality / end NATO expansionism. The US and UK sabotaged the peace agreement to pursue a long war, as NATO could use Ukrainians to weaken a strategic rival. As Zelensky warned in March 2022: “There are those in the West who don’t mind a long war because it would mean exhausting Russia, even if this means the demise of Ukraine and comes at the cost of Ukrainian lives”.
- Anyone calling for negotiations over the past 3 years has been smeared as a "Putinist" as the only acceptable "pro-Ukrainian" position was to continue fighting. The consequence? Hundreds of thousands of Ukrainians are dead and 20% of its territory has been lost. Now it is finally allowed to speak of negotiations as we have run out of Ukrainians.

Politics for sale:
- Information is power, and the think tanks business model is to sell political influence in Washington and manufacture consent among the public. The military-industrial complex is the dominant donor to think tanks
George Kennan in 1998: "I think it is the beginning of a new Cold War... Of course there is going to be a bad reaction from Russia, and then (the NATO expanders) will say that we always told you that is how the Russians are - but this is just wrong"

Propaganda is the science of convincing an audience without appealing to reason. Russophobia, defined as the irrational fear of Russia, should be a key theme in the study of propaganda in the West as Russia has throughout history been assigned a diametrically opposite identity as the “Other”.
The West and Russia have been juxtaposed as Western versus Eastern, European versus Asiatic, civilized versus barbaric, modern versus backward, liberal versus autocratic, and even good versus evil. During the Cold War, ideological dividing lines fell naturally by casting the debate as capitalism versus communism, democracy versus totalitarianism, and Christianity versus atheism.
After the Cold War, anti-Russian propaganda aims to filter all political questions through the simplistic binary stereotype of democracy versus authoritarianism, which provides little if any heuristic value to understand the complexities of relations.

International institutions and rules are largely a reflection of power. Major shifts in the international distribution of power imply that institutions and rules must adapt or be replaced to effectively organise cooperation and competition between states.

Democracy as a hegemonic norm:
- When democracy means alignment or integration with the West, then "democracy" can include toppling democratically elected governments if they do not fall in line. Possibly another Maidan in the making
