A memo is a message attached to your transaction and is used to identify who sent the transaction. Most exchanges use a single XYM address to receive all transactions so if you do not attach a memo they will not know who's transaction it is.
There is an exchange that uses unique addresses for all users so the you do not need a memo. I'm not sure which exchange that is

If gate.io does not require a memo then you don't need to enter a memo. If Binance wants a memo anyway just fill in what you want

If that is the only problem just withdrawal to you private wallet and then send to exchange. That is always the way you should do it.

I don't have any XYM on Binance, but if I go to withdrawal page everything looks ok. If I go to the Binance XYM wallet in the explorer then withdrawals are happening so looks ok

XEM and XYM use their own blockchain, they are not traded on Ethereum or BSC or ... Best way to trade is use an exchange
