Custom kitchen trash drawer

I'm building a new house, and to save some money I am installing an IKEA Sektion kitchen myself. Originaly, I was going to have a 24IN trash cabinet with the electric opener. And to make sure it worked, I went ahead and built it. But I wasn't super happy with IKEA's solution for mounting a door on a drawer in concert with the electric opener. It ends up pretty floppy, and that translates into the opener not being as reliable as it should be. And then my kitchen layout changed and I needed to go from a 24IN cabinet to an 18IN one. So I took the opportunity to fix both problems at the same time - I built my own drawer from scratch. I bought a couple of undermount Blum drawer slides and built a drawer box out of plywood, complete with a brace for the door front. Also, since the island is going to use Nickebo black fronts, I painted the inside of the cabinet frames dark gray. Here are a few pictures:

Operation with the opener is now absolutely rock solid - just a light touch anywhere on the door and it kicks open every time. The paint is Sherwin-Williams Emerald Urethane, the upper bit is stained with Danish Oil, and the inside is waterproof deck stain. The top does come off with a few screws if the inside ever needs to be really cleaned. The front is cut down to 25IN with the cut edge edgebanded in black. There is a 5IN drawer above it.

One note on the Utrusta electric opener that IKEA doesn't have in it's instructions - you can remove the power cord. Open the big lever on it, then the chrome lever pops the mechanism off the base. You can then pull the cord out. You can also buy longer cords and joiners for those cords from Blum if you need to reach an outlet more than the short length that IKEA includes, and of course you can shorten it too.

Don't mind my bare feet! :-\)

HÖGADAL door

Does anyone have the HÖGADAL door? I am wondering how the woven screen is installed in the frame. I want to remove it and replace with glass. IKEA no longer sells the 38-1/4" tall doors for Billy bookcases with glass panels. (Some of their choices puzzle me.)

Staining IKEA Norden Gateleg table

Hi! I just bought a used IKEA Norden Gateleg table in Birch. I really want to stain it to a darker color but everything I’ve seen online has been about painting it?

How would I go about staining it? Do I need to sand it? Condition it? Stain it and seal it?
I’ve seen it has a seal on it so I much not be able to just condition and stain it?

Explain it to me like a third grader 😂
Thanks!

Billy Bookcase extension

Has anyone put an extension on the 41 3/4” Billy bookcase? Our bonus room walls are 60” so the full size Billy doesn’t fit, but we would like something that fills more of the space than the short Billy bookcases.

Need to extend Bevkam kitchen cart legs

Hey all - I just picked up BEKVÄM for about $100. It’s not fitting great in my space due to a garbage can I have and has an automated flip top. I wanted to to possible extend the legs by 6-8 inches. I was planning to possibly get 2 of the legs cut to match the one with the wheels and glue and/or use some type of metal bracet to hold it together, however I need similar sized and colored wood to use as extensions. Are there any ideas? I’d probably get it cut at Home Depot or something.

Runnen edge with alternating pattern

I know the question of how to cut tiles for the edge of a balcony has been asked but I didn't see any addressing what to do if you're using an alternating pattern. Do I just have to do the last row all horizontal so that they can snap on (if I cut the perpendicular ones then they won't be able to connect to the edge pieces). Thanks

Tarnaby Lamp - Can I bypass the dimming component?

I bought an IKEA Tarrnaby lamp, which I later found to require a dimmable led bulb. I had flickering bulbs, even after replacing the first couple ones, to find out normal led bulbs do not like dimmable sources that much.

My chances are not to replace the bulb with a dimmable one, or try and bypass the dimming components in the lamp: in fact, I'm not planning to dim it and I normally turn it on at full power through a smart socket.

My choice would than be to bypass the dimming component. Before I tear the lamp apart, are you aware of any issue or design choice (e.g. it is integrated in the board) which should lead me to change my mind? Is that an hard activity to perform?

I'm not the best in class in electronics but I can solder and I can tell a capacitor from a resistor...

Thanks in advance.
