Hi!
I know some examples of this failed conversions like Colin McRae 2.0, both MediEvil games… Are there more cases like these? I’ve heard both Driver games run much faster than intended

My heart hurts that the NeGCon isn't a standard controller available everywhere
Basically the only racing games I can truly enjoy are ps1 ones. The NegCon is a true masterpiece of a controller. It's so thrilling to use; it makes the genre have a different sensation of use without the clutter of a wheel. Honestly I feel like I get better precision that an actual wheel to boot. And this perfect peripheral is just stranded to ps1. How am I supposed to enjoy Gran Turismo 7 or Mario Kart World when they don't let me twist to turn. Anyone else have this problem?

PlayStation Link Cable issue
Wondering if anyone has seen this before; I have 2 fat PS1s (SCPH-7502 + SCPH-1002) that I've linked together; same game and the cable I've run through with a multimeter and seems ok. What I've noticed is that the link options appear (for example on C&C RA) and you can do the initial setup stuff but once you play it says disconnected, similar issue on Wipeout. I'm wondering if its the timing issue between the console types?

Will any brand of CD-R discs work with th burning PS1 games?
I want to play ps1 games on my Hen Ps3 slim, i prefer physical than digital. Since the games are expensive, I'll just make my own. Verbatim is kind of pricey in my place so Will any brand of CD-R work?

What makes a good modern take on a PS1-era game? (Inspired by Vagrant Story)
Hey everyone,
I’ve been revisiting Vagrant Story lately and thinking a lot about what made PS1-era games so special — especially those with bold, experimental mechanics. The combat system in Vagrant Story, for example, was such a unique blend of real-time positioning, tactical targeting, and timing-based chaining. Flawed, maybe, but unforgettable.
I’m currently working on a game that takes inspiration from that era — not just in visuals, but in spirit. I don’t want to just mimic retro aesthetics for nostalgia’s sake, but to capture what made those games feel distinct: the ambition, the weirdness, the risks.
So I’d love to hear from you:
• What PS1-era mechanics or design ideas would you love to see reimagined today?
• What’s the difference between a game that feels like a PS1 classic and one that just looks like one?
• In the case of something like Vagrant Story, what would you keep, change, or modernize in a spiritual successor?

Has anyone who has played GTA London find that the police barely exist in the game?
I found across 25 missions so far, no matter what wanted level I got, police just didn't spawn. It made the game really easy since a lot of the missions, the challenge is that you get a wanted level, but nothing happens, and you just get to play out the mission with no consequence. Did anyone else find this to be the case? I wasn't sure if this was a problem with the PS1 port from the PC version or something. Even though the police in the original GTA base game was pretty good I thought.

I (machine) translated the Racing Lagoon manual.
It got kinda mangled but it's still mostly readable and doesn't look too bad. I didn't translate the second-to-last page as it was just safety warnings and telling you not to microwave the CD, it wasn't translating nice through lens. Hope this is useful for someone
(filesize is huge, it's almost 100mb, I tried to get it as small as possible but I'm also lazy and didn't try that hard, sorry)

As I know this entries from twisted metal series are the only in NA/North America and never cmae out in pal/europe region for some reasons and I want to know why because I'm really curious why
