Helldivers 2 is just….so much fun
About to rant but man….for the past decade it feels like multiplayer games are a second job. Just a list of chores, just going through the motions. Just fun enough with friends to make you go”yea ill give it a shot”.
But burnout for me at least always happens really fast with them. I dont think its any secret that most multiplayer games are built around incentivizing micro transactions and they have just lost their ability to do anything unique. Especially the major franchises…just kinda husks of their former selves.
But helldivers 2 is the first time in YEARS im just having fun. No gimmicks, no compromises- every session is just me laughing manically with all the crazy shit thats happening.
I dont want to sound dramatic but man…i forgot what its like to want to get excited about playing a game with friends before this

Is it just me or are you simply not allowed to have casual fun with today’s online multiplayer games?
Maybe I’m just nostalgic for the Halo 3/MW2 days of multiplayer but it seems that there’s a stigma in todays online community where it’s just a constant e-Sports level of competitiveness and toxicity.
Granted, that was also thing during the 7th gen with the Xbox 360 and PS3 but it was no where near as ubiquitous as it is today. You more or less get kicked if you’re not a sweaty try hard

When the words "Video Game Battle Theme" cross your mind, what's the first song you think of?
As stated in the title. Which song immediately comes to mind when someone asks you for one? A JRPG basic battle theme, a boss theme, a fighting game character's theme song, whatever?

People who played shooters like Quake/UT/Tribes/etc. online, what was it like, and is there anything they did that's missing from modern games?
I've played UT 99/2k4 and Quake 3 recently (offline), but I'm curious about what the online experience was like back in the day, and how it compares to something like Destiny, Fortnite, Overwatch, Apex, Halo Infinite, etc. Do you think there are any qualities they had that were lost somehow?

If the U.S. Government banned the use of all in-game currencies that can be purchased with real money, how would gaming change?
I think about this all the time, and I’m not even from the U.S. …. mate!
Do you think we’d see a healthy reduction in trying to exploit players, or would the money hungry pig companies find another way to gouge gamers? How do you think they’d do it?
