Has there ever been a bug in a game where the devs just couldn't figure out how to patch it?
Excluding pre 360 era console games of course, that's too obvious and no fun. Has there ever been a game with a bug/glitch, where the devs were basically like "guys, we have no clue how to fix this" and just had to leave it in?

Gaming culture has been ruined by preconceived notions and the idea every game is for every person
Just my opinion obviously, but it’s so hard these days to know what is actually quality and what is shit because people will complain like it’s the worst game ever no matter what game it is.
The amount of shitty reviews I’ve seen where I’ve thought “is it really that bad?”, have logged into the game and tried it for hours, and then been pleased by a perfectly average game is astounding.
“Gamers” these days complain like their dog was shot when a game isn’t made exactly how it was in their head, and then go online and spew hate for it when it’s actually just a game that doesn’t interest them.
I feel like 10-15 years ago, if someone didn’t like a game they were fine admitting “yeah it was alright but not for me”, whereas nowadays the exact same experience is met with a “the game runs like shit, horrible character models, so stupid you can’t do XYZ, fuck these devs”
This is probably exasperated by the fact that there is such a huge range in power of PCs these days that games do run like shit on some machines but that’s not the devs fault. As a console gamer most “optimization issues” I see people complain about don’t exist.
TLDR: not every game is for every person, and just because a game isn’t how you thought it would be doesn’t mean it’s bad.

Starfield - final thoughts
I've finally figured out, what Starfield feels and doesn't feel like to me.
I wanted Starfield to make me feel like I am out there, lost in an infinite, bizarre, beautiful, dangerous universe. A never-ending adventure, full of customized guns and ships and armour. A world, in which anything was possible. Are there intelligent aliens out there, but I've just not found them yet? Ancient ruins? Star system spanning smuggling rings?
Starfield makes me feel like I'm in a space game museum exhibit. I load from one room into the next, and they are nicely done exhibits. Cool, look at the spacesuits, look at the spaceships, look at the alien animals that all behave exactly the same and don't feel scary or threatening. Look at this beautiful city.
But I don't feel like I'm out there, in the universe, in the infinite.

Ring Fit Adventure. A massive hit and yet kinda overlooked as being Nintendo’s most successful new IP since Splatoon (15+ million copies sold!). Hopefully it gets a sequel on new hardware. The Total War fan base won and made the greedy developer back track. Customers win when they vote with their dollars!
Total War made by Creative Assembly might be very niche but the fanbase is extremely loyal and dedicated. So you might not have heard about this big win!
Last year Creative Assembly (the guys who had Hyena's cancelled) decided to increase their regular DLC price approx. 250% while only adding 50% citing only inflation. The fanbase reacted poorly. In response the leadership put out this article in Aug 2023 basically threatening the fanbase:

Well guess what the fanbase did? The fanbase barely purchased the DLC and gave it the poor ratings it deserved.

Also, their new game Total War Pharaoh sold very poorly. It was also priced as a full game, while being a 2/3 game size.
What happened when the money stopped flowing? Creative Assembly completely backed down and is adding significantly more content to the DLC to make it meet the price expectations in Feb 2024:

They also dropped the price of Pharaoh and refunded those who purchased at full price and gave out the first DLC for free.
Don't give in to greedy monetization. vote with your dollar and connect your fanbase together.

Skull and Bones - Is anyone whos tried / trying the current open beta actually going to buy ?
I cant see anyone actually buying this game if they get to try it for free during the current open beta. I've heard all the bad previews for it but its actually worse than i could possibly have imagined.
The sea looks good but everything else looks awful, the character models are crap, the npc's look slightly better but have terrible animations. Even the ui feels dated and clunky.
There are loading screens for everything, like literally everything. Landing at a beach or settlement? - loading screen. Boarding a wreck? - loading screen. Using a cannon? - loading screen.
Oh and you cant swim in the sea. In a game were your time is split between boats and beaches.
I dont think I'd try it again even if it was free-to-play never mind pay the $60-100 they are asking for it.
