**Rider Specialized Nodes**

* *Requirements*: Either Vitch (max 2nd Append) or Oberon
* *Mystic Code:* Atlas Code
* *DPS:* Tiamat (main), Vitch (sub)

As stated above, if you have Oberon but no Vitch, you can borrow a friends fox. If you have Vitch, but no Oberon, you can borrow a moth. In my case, I own both, however, my Vitch is only NP1, whereas my friend's is NP2, so I elected to use my Oberon, given Vitch will clear floor 1.

Vitch isn't exactly a hard-hitting character, so this comp is limited to lower-end rider nodes, unless you have your own/a friend's MLG Vitch, complete with high NP and multiple grails. The steps for this comp are as follows:

1. Use all of Tiamat's skills -> Oberon's S1 -> Oberon's S2 (on Vitch) -> Vitch NP
2. Vitch S3 (on Tiamat) -> Tiamat NP
3. Tiamat's S3 -> Vitch S1 (on Tiamat) ->Tiamat S3 -> Atlas Code S3 (on Tiamat) -> Tiamat's S2 and S3 -> Oberon S3 (on Tiamat) -> Tiamat NP

This is an instance where you'll actually triple stack Tiamat's S3, making way for some funny DPS. Tiamat's S1 isn't particularly necessary, however, if you feel you can't do enough damage, the stun can save you time by preventing the enemy from holding you up with their turn. Likewise, Vitch's S2 may allow her or Tiamat to crit out enough damage to finish surviving bosses.

**Douman Deeds Done Cheap**

* *Requirements:* Douman
* *Mystic Code:* Up to preference
* DPS: Doumanx2 and Tiamat.

Before anyone asks, yes, that is, indeed, my Douman, and not my pathetic attempt at coping with having spent a total of 400 SQ last Summer to fail to get Douman on JP. And yes, I will be more than willing to initiate an e-argument if you disagree.

This comp is very straightforward and actually makes use of Tiamat's Infantile Regression passive. Despite her motherly nature, Tiamat is chaotic-evil, allowing her to fully benefit from Douman's double buffs. Any MC will do just fine, and if either of your own servants lack a maxed out Append 2, you can substitute with the Mage Code's 20% battery. Otherwise, go with any you'd like to level or whichever provides any needed damage.

1. Both Douman's S3 -> All of Tiamat's skills (it's mandatory to use her S3 here) -> Either Douman NP (Tiamat gains 5% NP, putting her at 85%)
2. The other Douman NP (Tiamat gains 5% NP, putting her at 90%)
3. Both Douman S1s -> Tiamat S3 -> \[Any relevant MC skills\] Tiamat NP

Note that there's room for tweaking this comp. If either Douman lacks damage, you may apply any or both S1 DEF downs that may give them enough of a boost.

**Double Extra**

* *Requirements:* Oberon or Archetype: Earth
* *Mystic Code*: Any that provides at least 10% NP. Babylon or the Halloween 2021 are preferred
* *DPS:* Archetype: Earth (sub) and Tiamat (Main)

This team makes use of Arc's ease-to-use. Very quick and straightforward, although there's less buffs being spread around.

1. Use Arc's S2 -> Tiamat's S3 -> Arc NP
2. Oberon S1 -> Tiamat NP
3. Arc S1 and S2 -> Oberon S2 and S3 (on Tiamat) -> Tiamat S3 -> Mystic Code NP battery and relevant buffs -> Tiamat NP

Like the above, you can use Archetype: Earth's DEF debuff wherever needed.

**Fluffy Friends (Do Not Fluff Oberon)**

* *Requirements:* Vitch of Darkness (2nd Append) or Oberon
* *Mystic Code:* Mage Academy
* *DPS:* Vitch of Darkness (sub) and Tiamat (main)

Tiamat is classified as an animalistic servant, allowing her to receive Dark Vitch's buffs. Another simple team that spreads out buffs/NP charge, but more interestingly, makes use of Vitch's level 2 OC buff as

specialize in". Additionally, I am assuming that both Tiamat and the servants I'm comparing have roughly the same amount of investment, so mileage will vary in cases where you're rocking, say, a level 120, NP5 Melusine and only intend to get/have a level 90, NP1 Tiamat.

https://preview.redd.it/yyoikmf5hdva1.png?width=283&format=png&auto=webp&v=enabled&s=a9a176528e72a19914b65d26caa14a9aea11ee2a

**Melusine**

To be honest, I'm only bringing up Melusine here based on my assumption that there's a good amount of people who would compare her with Tiamat. The thing is, however: Tiamat and Melusine won't ever really step on each other's toes. This is for the simple fact that Melusine, being a lancer, is especially focused on bringing down archer enemies, while Tiamat, as an alterego, isn't really a good choice to use against knight-type classes.

With that being said, Melusine is powerful enough to be used against many cavalry classes, but assuming yours is on par with your Tiamat, Tiamat is more likely to be the more reliable choice.

Aside from that, Melusine does come equipped with a 100% battery and can be used as a ST servant for those pesky 1 enemy floors in 90+++ farming nodes. This also provides her with a bit more flexibility in supports, whereas Tiamat is *mostly* locked to double Vitch + Oberon. If you lack your own Vitch or Oberon, Melusine may be your ticket through obnoxious nodes, but otherwise, she and Tiamat simply have their own different targets.

**Morgan**

Morgan is much more comparable, and this is where things get a bit complex. To this day since her original release 2 years ago, Morgan has been a top contender in farming, as well as challenge quests. There's no signs of her going out-of-style, even as we get our Kukulkans every now and then.

What makes this comparison so difficult is that Morgan and Tiamat do similar things in a team comp, although Morgan arguably leans more on the supportive side. To be specific, Morgan comes equipped with the vanilla, yet reliable Charisma skill worth 20% ATK, as well as a targetable 20% NP battery. This makes her a better fit in farming compositions that run multiple DPS who may need that extra boost in ATK or NP charge. Likewise, the OC buff granted from her NP may also allow her fellow DPS to hit a bit harder.

Tiamat, on the other hand, is more self-sufficient when it comes to her own offensive buffs, supplying herself with the trifecta (NP damage, \[Buster\] card, and ATK buff), whereas Morgan only has her 20% ATK buff and 8% Buster buff from her Madness Enhancement passive. As a solo DPS, Tiamat is more independent, however, in a farming context, the small 10% NP charge she offers to her allies is far more difficult to work with than Morgan's targetable 20%. While, yes, it covers all 3 active party members, there's rarely a time where you'll run more than 2 DPS, making that a bit of a moot point. To add, Tiamat keeps most her offensive buffs to herself, meaning that, unless your sub DPS has high investment, getting Tiamat to cooperate with others may be more challenging than with Morgan.

There is also the fact that Morgan has special damage against Round Table/Fae targets, as well as Human Attribute targets, whereas Tiamat lacks any specialty, so it's a good idea to consider that when deciding who to use in what situation.

**Archetype: Earth**

To be frank, Arcueid's main draw is her ease-to-use, and unless you have her at a high investment, her damage against the average enemy won't be that great. Archetype: Earth, like Tiamat, has access to the offensive trifecta, with a 30% ATK steroid, 20% NP damage, and that 30% triple card buff when Millenium Field is active. This is well and good, *however*, being a Mooncancer doesn't really do Arc any favors, given her lack of realistic offensive

doesn't need much of a explanation, but also a 100% crit chance debuff to all enemies for a single turn. Crits in FGO are just about as devastating as NPs, so being able to block them, even if just for a turn, is something that will save a lot of players during boss fights. In addition to this, Tiamat blocks all targets' healing abilities, but honestly, I can't really recall a scenario where this would really be too useful, sans for certain advanced quests.

On the offense side of things, **Eye of the Red Star** is a skill so aptly named that I didn't have to check/validify its name that serves as Tiamat's main offensive steroids worth 30% ATK and Buster effectiveness. For an effect that has an effective downtime of 3 turns, this is pretty good, as compound offensive buffs are especially valuable for new players/players who haven't rolled popular supports like Vitch or Merlin. To add to this, Tiamat also has a 60% chance to stun all enemies, a fine bonus given that CC in FGO is always helpful. The only issue here is that you'll probably be more focused on using this skill for the offensive steroids, meaning there will be rare moments where the stun effect isn't perfectly timed. Finally, Tiamat slaps on a 2k damage curse for 3 turns, which...is *technically* good on its own, but there are certain setups where it will come into play--more on that later.

If you haven't realized it yet, Tiamat is a fan of Crayola, given the naming conventions of her skills. Her final and, what I would say the most shocking skill in her hands, is **Sea of Blue Stars**, a support-oriented skill that heals the party for 1.5k HP, provides a modest 10% NP charge for everyone, and boosts everyone's NP damage by 20% for 1 turn. The combination of skills is certainly interesting, but what made many of us drop our jaws was the hilariously short 2 turn CD at max level.

On its own, this skill is basically equivalent to a heal/turn effect, given its value is higher than most, while Tiamat can heal every other turn. 10% NP charge by itself isn't a lot, but considering the short CD of this skill, it also can be considered similar in principle to NP/turn effects. For a bit of reference, Merlin's NP provides the party with 5% per turn, whereas Tiamat can give the party 10% NP every other turn. Both effects are very active, so new and old players alike will find that this skill enables their NP rotations really effectively.

On the NP damage side of things, this effect is a bit harder to time. The healing effect is certainly worthy enough to spam, yet there are plenty of times where Tiamat is simply not ready to NP. With a measly 1 turn duration, missing this buff is going to be a common occurrence, unless you really dedicate it to using it as a NP steroid. Personally, I'd rather focus on its healing/battery aspects, but coordinating it with damage phases shouldn't be too hard if you set up your team well enough.

As many have discovered already, this skill has a hilarious interaction with Tiamat's main support, Vitch. While this foxy lady provides the usual 50% NP juice, she also gives a 2 turn skill refresh. And wouldn't you know it, *that perfectly aligns with Tiamat's S3 CD*. With one Vitch, you can double up on this skill, healing for 3k HP, providing 20% NP charge, and stacking 40% NP damage. With two Vitch, this becomes 4.5k healing, 30% NP charge, and 60% NP damage. Add in the spice from the Atlas Code, you finally get 6k healing, 40% NP charge, and 80% NP damage.

...*however,* when it comes to actual practice, there aren't many times where you'll fully stack the buff as stated above. 50% NP is definitely not something you'd want to waste, and while this is a fun little gimmick that goes perfectly with Oberon's NP buff boost, NP management completely flies out the window as you do more harm than good. I'm sure masterminds like xNaya or Plushie will find a CQ that makes this setup a very real strategy, but for the average moment, Vitch's battery won't be used back-to-back in the same turn all too often, while the Atlas Code is very much niche

A: Always do the story quests you have access to first to unlock new free quests as soon as possible. You should also farm the highest level FQ available to you. Prioritize buying the event CE in the shop, and put event bonus servants in your parties to maximize your Idolium Point (event point) yields. Points are more important than shop currency and grinding them is the key to all the event exclusives (welfare, costumes, etc.)

It is worth noting that there are only two event CEs in the shop this time (1 for 200 Gold and 1 for 200 Silver), with three additional copies available on the point ladders at 300k. No CE drop will be necessary to MLB. Similarly, there is one ascension item for the welfare servant in the shop, with the remaining three being on the point ladders at 100k.

Q: How do I unlock more event story/new farming nodes?

A: There are daily time-locks for event story. You must also have a minimum number of total event points to progress.

Q: What is the [CENTER\] tag I’m seeing on the party formation screen?

A: By placing a servant in the center of the formation (The 2nd slot), they will receive buffs (Critical Strength Up, Star Absorb, Stars Per Turn) from being in that position. Furthermore, if one of the servants who received costumes is placed in the center, the background will be switched to match the servant. This only applies to the 3rd wave for Free Quests.

it is paired to boost Tiamat's OC effect.

1. Use all of Tiamat's skills -> Vitch S2 (on Tiamat) -> Oberon S1 -> Tiamat NP
2. Vitch S1 -> Mage Academy S2 (on Vitch) -> Vitch NP
3. Oberon S2 and S3 (on Tiamat) -> Tiamat S3 -> Tiamat NP

**Beasts United**

* *Requirements:* Vitch of Darkness (2nd Append)
* *Mystic Code:* Atlas (if there is a floor 1 midboss)
* *DPS:* Vitch of Darknessx2 and Tiamat

This is an alternative to the former team that trades turn 3 power (via Oberon) for a more evened out spread of buffs, making this more suitable for tougher floor 1 and 2 floors, as well as players who have higher invested Tiamats. Likewise, this team is catered to farming nodes that contain a single mid-boss enemy on floor 1, as it allows Tiamat to stack her S3. The main idea here is to make use of the 30% ATK both Vitch provide to Animalistic servants (i.e. all three), as well as stack both OC buffs on Tiamat. This team, in particular, requires specific targeting, so there's a bit of finger-spaghetti compared to most teams.

1. Use one Vitch's S1 -> Use both Vitch's S2 (on Tiamat) -> Tiamat S2 -> Tiamat S3 -> Atlas Code S2 (on Tiamat) -> Tiamat S3 -> Vitch NP
2. Vitch NP
3. Tiamat S3 -> Tiamat NP

# Closing Thoughts

Tiamat is a fine addition to FGO's roster, offering a bit of a slightly different take on a familiar formula for AoE Buster servants. Regardless of how she fares, overall, it's pretty safe to say that she is a reliable mother, even for masters who simply just want to roll her based on their love.

/r/grandorder

advantage. On Tiamat's end, she has that ramping series of Buster buffs per NP, an NP damage buff that can be stacked in the right conditions, but also 1.5x damage vs cavalry enemies.

However, on the convenience end, Archetype: Earth can provide her team with 30% NP when Millenium Field is active, while human servants gain 20-40% NP charge after her own NP. This includes a modest list of servants, but some of these (Vanilla Ishtar, Chloe, Summer Erice) are particularly valuable targets for those obtuse farming nodes. Similar to Morgan, Archetype: Earth's NP does specialized damage, and in this case, includes chaotic targets.

In most situations vs cavalry enemies, Tiamat is, by far, going to be your best choice. However, if, say, you're running multiple DPS on a team, Arcueid might be more worthwhile, especially if said DPS are classified as living humans. Otherwise, Archetype: Earth's special damage has made her particularly good at spanking BB during her various appearances as a farming node boss.

**Kukulkan**

Our final and most recent comparison is Kuku, who has proved to be quite good with her hands, given how hard she claps her enemies. Similar to Tiamat, Kuku will end up stacking her own buffs in a typical Vitch comp, which ends up amounting to 100% ATK (from her powered up S1), 60% Buster, and 60% NP damage on turn 3. On Tiamat's end, she receives 60% ATK (from her S2), 60% Buster from her S1 + 90% Buster from using her NP 3 times, totaling 150%, and 20-40% NP damage (more likely the former number), assuming she's the sole AoE DPS. Things are rather close, however, as a Foreigner, Kuku will only get that 2x damage modifier vs. berserkers and the far less common pretender/foreigner targets, while Tiamat covers riders, casters, berserkers, and assassins (as well as the uncommon foreigner) with the 1.5x modifier alteregos have against those classes.

Outside that, Kuku does have 50% damage against threats to humanity (although this is more of a thing for story battles) and 150-200% bonus damage vs Earth attribute foes through her NP. Her 50% battery is targetable, *however*, it serves as her only battery and, as an effect, there won't be many situations where Kuku will pass it to an ally over herself.

With that being said, Kuku is *especially* good at dishing out crit damage and has access to her own hard defense in the form of Anti-Purge defense, which, thanks to her passive, gets converted from any normal invuln. This, of course, is strictly a benefit for general content, and while Kuku lacks healing of her own, this isn't anything someone like Merlin can't fix with a simple NP. Tiamat, however, is missing any evade or invuln, while such a skill can be covered by Merlin, but isn't quite as spammable as the healing provided from his NP.

Who you benefit more from in a given situation ultimately boils down to the specifics of a fight, as well as things like investment.

# Farming Teams: No CE and Triple Servant Comps

By now, many of you are already aware of Tiamat's bnb: Vitch-Oberon-Pocket Vitch. To spare everyone the common team, I'll focus, instead, on alternative teams that do not require a specific CE or plugsuit.

For new players or those who are only now getting into serious farming, the advantage of No CE teams is the ability to build your team to be better at farming, be it event drops or bond EXP. Likewise, non-plugsuit comps free up space for a servant you want to get bond EXP from, but are also somewhat more F2P-friendly, given you can borrow a specific servant from a friend, whereas in Tiamat's bnb comp, you're required to own both Vitch and Oberon.

As a final note, these comps require Tiamat to have her 2nd append max. Mine has not yet hit bond 6, so through the following examples, we'll just have to use our imaginations and pretend her 2nd append is

compared to either plugsuit.

**Nammu Duranki** is Tiamat's NP, an AoE focused buster attack that clears Tiamat's debuffs, as well as seals the skills of her targets. In combination with her rapid healing, the debuff cleanse is quite nice and contributes to Tiamat being comfortable to use in long fights. Skill seal is...honestly, I've never been wowed by this effect, but I'm sure it saved my ass a few times without me realizing it.

What makes this NP, however, is the OC effect. Before dealing damage, Tiamat applies a 30%-60% Buster steroid, not for 1 turn, no siree, but *3 turns*. From a farming perspective, this contributes to Tiamat's turn 3 damage being so ludicrous, but it's also pretty wild in general fights/CQs. Tiamat has 2 buster cards to work with, so this OC effect contributes to her normal damage quite well. Ontop of that, Tiamat will be firing off her NP more often than the average buster servant (given her S3), meaning maintaining this buff isn't too difficult when coordinated with someone like Merlin or Vitch.

Overall, it's just a great, offensive NP, and for general fights, definitely worth upping the OC level whenever feasibly possible.

# Should You...

...despite where your mind may have wandered upon reading that, I'm actually not going to answer the question of whether or not you should roll Tiamat. This is simply for the fact that I realize that most everyone who considers rolling for Tiamat probably will regardless or not if her kit is as good as other AoE DPS or a side-grade to Geronimo's. Fortunately, I think we can all at least agree that it's the former.

Instead, I'm going to dedicate the rest of this thread to the advantages you will get by using Tiamat, how she compares to some popular AoE Buster servants, and, finally, some suggested team comps for her.

# Tiamama Loves You

If I were to compare Tiamat to a servant from the top of my mind, it would be Melt (Vanilla). Now, hold your horses, I fully am aware the two could not be more different sans for their class, but what I mean here is that both are simply very reliable servants to use. On Melt's end, her S1's starbomb allows her to hit the ground running with crits, while the rest of her kit helps her maintain momentum. She is, in my totally not biased eyes, one of the perfect examples of how a quick DPS should play.

Tiamat, on the other hand, has a healthy mix of offense, utility, and support in her kit, including that rapid healing I recently just got finished talking about. While, yes, Tiamat does lack some key things as a hard defense, such a thing is easily covered by Merlin or even Castoria, given players are fully justified in using her outside Arts teams. If regular defense will do, Waver or Hans can provide some of that, and while I'd normally mention Mash, I find it hard to do so since she spends Arc 2 in that detestable Ortinax kit.

Something I feel is overlooked is Tiamat's 3rd Append, which provides her with an offensive boost vs beast class foes. At a glance, this is a very niche thing to have, as beast class enemies aren't exactly common, *but* it's a very solid niche, given the enemies who fit this classification are also fairly difficult fights. For new players, these threats are less to be feared, as Tiamama will hold their hand while stomping towards the enemy to give them a piece of her mind.

Aside from that, having access to CC can come in clutch, while her AoE battery can support her supports whose support is primarily invested into their support-type NPs.

So with all that in mind, I'd like to move on to how Tiamat compares to other popular DPS.

# Hit Red, They Dead

Before continuing, I'd like to clarify that this section isn't intended to be interpreted as who is better between Tiamat and 'x' servant. I have a very firm opinion that, at the top end of servants, each has a fair share of advantages, disadvantages, and specific niches that make them practically impossible to compare.

Instead, I would suggest reading this with a mindset of "hey, I have/intend to get 'x' servant, what situation would each

How I Met Your Primordial Mother: A Guide to Tiamat

FGO JP has been through some dark times with the game's staff has proved to consist of exactly 3 employees. Just when FGO was looking about as alive as a row of FGO Arcade cabinets during the height of the Pandemic, a shining ray of hope named 'Tiamat' appeared. If Tiamat's sudden appearance reminded me of a moment in my childhood where my mom woke me up with a new Bionicle toy, Lasengle reminds me of my older sister who left me stranded after my little league baseball practice, but I digress.

Tiamat (Larvae) is the newest servant to enter Chaldea, appearing as an AoE, Buster NP Alterego who evenly balances out dps, utility, and support, making her a comfortable pick who can still dish out plenty of damage.

# Traits and Passive Skills

https://preview.redd.it/oo9pzmqyoxua1.png?width=287&format=png&auto=webp&v=enabled&s=a7a549f6681c7d4b12cf3b329470b80d3012e278

Before going on to the juicy parts of Tiamama, there are some key traits she has that I feel are worth mentioning. First being: Ascensions 1 and 2 have the **'levitating'** trait, which only comes into play during 1 fight (so far), but assuming you wish to have Tiamat stomp her way through the chapter, is *pretty important to note*.

Second, Tiamat is another addition to the **animal-trait** family, and while this is overall a pretty minor thing, it's worth keeping in mind that Koyanskaya (Night Mode) has a skill that boosts animal-like allies' ATK and DEF by 30%, along with a bond CE that provides an additional 10% ATK to go along with the universal 10% buster boost.

Despite being such a lovely mother, Tiamat is, infact, **chaotic-evil**, meaning she receives both of Douman's full bonuses. Coincidentally enough, both are alteregos, giving the pair a bit of synergy together against calvary foes.

As one final note, Tiamat is, of course, a divine servant in multiple regards, however, it's worth mentioning that *a lot* of servants have a searing hatred for divinity.

Moving onto Tiamat's passive skills, we have a pretty unique spread of skills. Starting off simple, **Authority of the Beast** is a straightorward, but nice and unconditional 10% crit buff that will certainly add to Tiamat's solid offense. **Independent Manifestation** adds another 4% to that (giving Tiamat a permanent 14% crit boost), along with 4% death and mental debuff resistance. Tiamat lacks any crit-based skill, so this passive helps fill in one of her weaknesses without any effort on the user's end.

On a more interesting note, Tiamat's **Self Modification** provides a 500 damage cut, which isn't as major as, say, Mash's 2000 damage cut off her S2, but it does match Waver's damage cut without the turn limit. On paper, this sounds great and, honestly, it is pretty dainty to have, but much like the above crit passives, this is Tiamat's only source of defense and, being an alterego, she won't be making use of defensive class advantage very often.

**Goddess's Essence**, on the other hand, provides a pretty hefty 500 Damage+, which, again, matches Waver's own version of this buff, but also gives 30% debuff resistance. Not exactly exciting, but given how devastating debuffs in FGO can be, a free, permanent 30% resistance is quite nice to have and, if you're one to speedrun challenge quests, could potentially save you from wrestling with RNG.

This leaves us with **Infantile Regression**, a skill that probably reminds you of Kingprotea, but in this case, it's a passive more similar to a stronger Avenger passive, providing Tiamat with 5% NP/turn. During farming sessions, this probably won't be helpful, but for a buster servant, getting a free 5% battery/turn helps a lot, and in this case, Tiamat has the ability to capitalize off this passive.

# Active Skills and NP

https://i.redd.it/bouq0szkwxua1.gif
