Dr. Strange and Chronic Pain
To be honest, I’m not really very well versed in the Marvel universe. I used to watch the movies when I was younger but stopped when life got busier and going to the movies became infrequent. But recently, on a longish plane ride, I wanted to rewatch Dr. Strange because he was one of my favourite characters.
For additional context, like Strange, I had a major accident and can no longer do many of the things that defined my self and my life. Watching the movie after all these years from such a different place in my life was both extremely difficult and also somehow weirdly healing. The part where he says to Dormamu (sp?) - “Pain is an old friend.” was somehow especially really helpful for me. Now, on the bad days, I say that line quietly to myself too. I know it’s silly but I wanted to share this with people who might get it. Thanks for reading!
