Books that help to brainstorm/inspire worldbuilding
I have a rough plot figured out for a fantasy book, to the point I think I know how it ends. That said, I'm looking for inspiration on building the world surrounding the plot and characters. I know I'm probably approaching the story writing backwards from what I should be, but the plot idea came to me suddenly, so I want to make a lore to compliment it.
Any ideas for books that would help inspire a dragon fantasy world's lore? Ones I've currently read through include Wings of Fire, The Fourth Wing, Eragon, and The Dragon Prince (the show and Wiki). Any and all suggestions are appreciated.

Any novels that are about food and the love of food?
Food is my greatest passion in life and would love to read a book where food is centre to the story. Basically, I'm looking for the Ratatouille of books.
A book about chefs, cooking, food. That kind of idea.

Books that you can read even when you’re clinically burned out and exhausted to your bones?
So as the title says, I am just so incredibly burned out right now. I was under so much stress my body started shutting down.
Now those stress has lifted and I’m starting to heal and I want to read so bad but I keep picking up books and I just can’t seem to engage.
What are some books that are so easy to read and pull you in right away?
Thank you in advance!!

New to reading, need a recommendation please.
Never really read books unless I had to for school, but I am now finding enjoyment reading in my spare time. So far, I have read Never - Ken Follett, the Red Rising series Pierce Brown and 11/22/63 by Stephen King. I really enjoyed all three of these. I think red rising and 11/22/63 I liked the most because of their interesting concepts. I was told next to read Pillars of the Earth, which I started but got quite bored. Maybe I need to give it another chance? Anyone have a recommendation? Much appreciated :)

which Fredrick Backman book to read first?
I am a big fan of Sara Carrolli and she is always raving about this author. I am wanting to read one of his books but don’t know where to start? I usually read romance fantasy books but I am totally open to something new!
Pls lmk your thoughts / opinions if you’ve read from this author!

Sci-fi recommendation
Finally managed to get my husband into reading. He has recently finished Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy, which he absolutely loved and is now looking for his next book.
He is thinking he would enjoy something futuristic involving space / space travel, with an main character(s) exploring / adventuring. Good humor would be a bonus but not necessarily required.
Series recommendations are welcome too.
Thanks in advance.

Spiritual or psychedelic novels that aren’t cheesy…
Looking for stuff that involved faith, belief and spiritual journeys.
Fiction preferred but if a non fiction applies to this i’d love to hear about it!

What did the cool girls read in the 90s?
I just started reading Suicide Blonde by Darcey Steinke and it brought back memories of hearing the older girls talk about cool subversive books in the 90s. What did all the goth chicks/riot grrrls and other rebels read back then? I'm specifically looking for transgressive fiction books from the 90s about other women, like Steinke's. I'm guessing Prozac Nation is in there, Girl, Interrupted too, but if you have other ideas, I'd love to hear them, especially if they're indie-ish or at least not as popular as these two.

What books are worth keeping forever?
Not necessarily just for reading once, but the kind you’d want on your shelf forever. Could be fiction, non-fiction, self-help, classics whatever stuck with you or shaped how you think. I’m trying to build a small but meaningful collection and don’t want to fill it with stuff I’ll never touch again. What books do you think are worth owning long-term?

Books that will help me in school?
I guess i’m looking for books that will make me feel more intelligent lol. This is kind of a strange request, but i only read books from booktok and honestly what good is that doing?
I don’t want anything too complex though. I’m going into my Sophomore year of high school and just want to read classics that i’ll be able to understand and books that will expand my mind if that makes sense
(i love romance)

Non fiction books about people that left a cult?
Looking for books where people left a cult and is not too difficult to read. I usually read fiction books so if its reads like a fiction book that's a plus!

Books on Feminism
I love reading, but I mostly read novels. Lately I’ve realized that I’ve never actually read a book on feminism. And I’m trying to find must read feminist books to widen my horizon. Do you have any recommendations? Is there a book that you think that would be a good start?

As guy who just turned 18...what are most genuine books you would recommend in order to grow as person and as a man
I just turned 18 and I’m at that stage where I want to level up....mentally, emotionally, and as a man. I’m working on becoming someone who’s reliable, emotionally strong, disciplined, and grounded. I want to build a strong sense of identity and direction, not just drift through life.
I've read Atomic Habits and Attitude is Everything. They were good starters. Now I’m looking for the next level.....books that hit deeper and stay with you for life.
If you’ve read something that helped shape you into a better man or person, I’d love to know. And if there are any underrated gems that don’t get mentioned often, please drop those too also mention a short review about the book and how it can help me improve
Open to all genres—self-help, philosophy, memoirs, even fiction that teaches life lessons. Hit me with your best.

Books that might help me find peace in poverty
I don't know if I want fiction or non fiction.
My partner and I live in a US city and live paycheck to paycheck. Our house is messy and we work so hard just to get by and I feel so discouraged about our circumstances. I know nothing will change anytime soon, possibly get worse, but I would like to read something that helps me feel at peace with my life.
Also I'm not looking for "How to get rich in 30 days" kind of books. This is just my life and it is what it is.
Thanks in advance.

I've been struggling to find 5 star books. Suggest me a book...
I've read 23 books and my only 5 star of the year has been 84 Charing Cross Road, but this is not what I would usually read. My 5 stars from last year were:
Intermezzo
Small Things Like These
Blue Sisters
Orbital
I've been reading a lot of literary fiction recently and I've had a lot of 3 and 4 star books but no 5s. I like something reflective and thoughtful, but I also need to be really invested in the plot or characters to pull me through and make me want to keep reading.
I also really enjoy fantasy (Malazan is my favourite series), scifi and Agatha Christie's books, but I've been more into literary fiction recently.
Please recommend any books you think I would love! I need a 5 star book!

Any nature based novel suggestions please (Fiction+nonfiction) ?
I just finished reading James Herriot's books and absolutely adored them. They were the right balance of nature and urban and incredibly charming and witty. Just utterly beautiful books.
Do you have any similar suggestions?
I'm not after nature books based on a particular subject (talking to trees, the lifecycle of hares, etc), I prefer more fiction and non-fiction novels that follow a story that is deeply rooted in nature.
Thanks for any help x

Can I have a cool book thats childish and adventerous?
I remember when I was younger, I read and really enjoyed a lit of children adventure like books... like Stuart Little. That book i remember enjoying so much. The smell of the pages, the font of the letters, the story... That reminds me.. Paddington too I enjoyed. And toad and frog, little bear... I miss reading books like that.. Lately since I'm a gamer and a college student, I stopped reading unless it had to do with school, and my enjoyment for reading kinda dissipated... Do you recommend any similar books to get back into the swing of things?

Books to Read with My Sister
My younger sister lives in a different state, and we agreed to read a book together so we can have something fun to text/call about. We're both early 20's, I'm an avid reader and she's recently dipped her toe back into reading. I know she recently read "It Ends With Us" and really liked it, but that is the exact opposite of my taste. I'm more of a Brandon Sanderson fantasy kind of guy, but I'm worried epic fantasy would bore her. We both love Stranger Things though, so that's a common thread. What books do you think we'd both like?

What’s a book you wish you could read again for the first time?
You know that feeling — when a book just completely pulls you in, and you’re living in its world for days? I’m talking about the kind of book that left you stunned, emotionally wrecked, or just in awe of the writing. The kind of experience you wish you could bottle and relive again.
What book gave you that feeling?
Fiction or nonfiction, doesn’t matter — I’d love to hear what book you’d choose if you could wipe your memory and start fresh.
Please share why it hit so hard. I’m hoping to find my next obsession.

Looking for some plays that are fun to read!
I want to write a stage play but I’ve never written a script before, only prose. I want to take some time to study the formatting and craft of well written scripts, so I thought I’d read some plays. I’m looking for plays that are still fun even if you’re reading them rather than seeing them. I’m open to any genre, but I prefer to avoid plays that are just like, relentless misery. Also I’d prefer plays written in the last century or so.

Books that made you cry tears of joy.
I cry pretty easily especially if I find a sequence particularly wholesome, but I have mostly read pretty hefty and challenging books with some lighter novels here and there (most recently irregular society of secret witches). So I'd love to hear what books have made you cry (whether that's just a single tear or full on weeping) because something is just that uplifting.
