If raccoons are knocking down hummingbird feeders and digging in planters, could I leave food for them away from the yard or will that make things worse? Lol 🦝 ❤️
I adore raccoons but my partner is less enthusiastic about them because they’re messing with the yard. I was thinking if I put some cat food over the fence (it’s all woods) they’d leave the stuff that’s not for them alone, but will I just entice them to explore the yard even more? 😅

Raccoon Getting Grabby?
This is more of a question for the feeders that directly interact with your racoons. Do they ever get grabby with you?
I have been feeding my "pet" for over a year and he's only just now getting bolder with me. He usually hides in the corner against the house and waits for me to drop the food in the tray after coming to the window and waiting for me to notice him. I will just put the food in the tray and go back inside. Lately he has been walking right up to my feet and then running back to the bowl and waiting for the food to be put in it, then he snatches the tray and starts eating.
Lately as I am lifting the scoop back up after feeding it, he tries to swat it out of my hand or grab it out of my hands. I'm amazed at how strong they are! He's still afraid of me, if he feels like he touched my skin he jumps back and gets frightened. Is this all normal for them?

Raccoon family in basement
Over the years, there has occasionally been an incident with a raccoon finding their way into my basement-- cat food had been stored here and this was why. They can no longer access cat food, but one has somehow found an always accessible way in and out of the basement that I'm not aware of, potentially involving the crawlspace. I think it connects in some way to my chimney and they've been climbing up and down three stories just for their place of residence, given times they've been spotted on the roof. They aren't coming here for food anymore, but have made the place a home and I just discovered that they had babies- not that I've been able to get close since their birth due to the mother seemingly always being around. The mother seems very aggressive now and I've been unable to access storage in my basement, which the little lady has been ripping apart for additional shelter. I feel for them, and don't want any harm to come to them, but this arrangement is less than ideal for me and I have no idea what to do next.
