Question about rat bait safety
I hope this is the right forum to ask this.
We discovered what we thought was a squirrel in our attic is actually a roof rat. We called out a pest management company and they have placed traps in our attic, but they also want to put out rat bait in rat bait stations around our house.
We have four regular raccoon visitors (and an opossum) who we are quite fond of. The pest company assures me that the rat bait stations exclude the raccoons and they won’t be attracted to the bait so it shouldn’t be a problem, but I’m not so sure.
These are four large raccoons who love to visit our compost pile and eat the seed from under our bird feeders, plus the occasional cat food when it’s left out. We have locks on our trash can lids so they can’t get in them.
What has been the experience of the people on this board with raccoons and rat bait/rat bait stations?

Is this horrifying sound in my backyard from a raccoon?
I live in Syracuse, New York and my backyard is a forever wild land preserve called Bigsby Drumlin (it's just woods, nothing fancy or famous, people practically never hike in it).
I am trying to identify what animal is in a sound video I recorded, and have heard on multiple occasions.
Personally, I am split between it being either a fox or a raccoon. I would imagine a raccoon to be quieter and less eerie, but a fox doesn't seem to have the botched rooster sound I'm picking up in the video. However, the raccoon videos I listen to have them verberating way more than what I would expect.
