WHAT LOVE NEEDS TO SURVIVE
The Buddha said that nothing survives without food, including love. If you don’t know how to nourish and feed your love, it will die. If we know how to feed our love every day it will stay for a long time. One way we nourish our love is by being conscious of what we consume. Many of us think of our daily nourishment only in terms of what we eat. But in fact, there are four kinds of food that we consume every day. They are: edible food (what we put in our mouths to nourish our bodies), sensory food (what we smell, hear, taste, feel, and touch), volition (the motivation and intention that fuels us), and consciousness (this includes our individual consciousness, the collective consciousness, and our environment).

Paramahansa Yogananda

Normally, the human body, brain, mind and soul undergo a complete change once every eight years, if the individual be progressive. The Scriptures say it requires about a million uninterrupted mundane years of human progressive natural evolution to clarify and sensitize and enlarge the brain, mind and soul capacity so that they can hold and reflect all the knowledge in the Universe.

Ordinarily, the human brain is too limited even to hold all the words of an enlarged Webster Dictionary. Imagine what a highly developed brain is necessary to hold and express all knowledge. However, if Luther Burbank could bring a walnut tree to the fruit-bearing stage in five years instead of the normal ten to fifteen years, it is reasonable to suppose that there must be a scientific method for developing an all-wisdom-producing brain within a few years.

This is why the Yogis of India have devised this ingenious Kriya exercise for internally refining the brain and spine. Kriya is mathematical in its result. All who practice it correctly and regularly will learn this for themselves. By practicing Kriya correctly 14 times, morning and evening, while in good health, the spine, brain and mind become completely changed.

To bring about an equivalent change through natural evolution requires one year.

A wise person once said what surprise me most about humankind is that
"We get bored of our childhood and rush to grow up and then want to be children again, we lose our health to make money and then lose our money to restore our health that by thinking anxiously about the future we forget the present such that we live in neither the present nor the future, we live if we were never going to die and die as thought we have never lived".

Bhante Gunaratana

Meditation is running straight into reality. It does not insulate you from the pain of life but rather allows you to delve so deeply into life and all its aspects that you pierce the pain barrier and go beyond suffering. Vipassana is a practice done with the specific intention of facing reality, to fully experience life just as it is and to cope with exactly what you find. It allows you to blow aside the illusions and free yourself from all the polite little lies you tell yourself all the time. What is there is there. You are who you are, and lying to yourself about your own weaknesses and motivations only binds you tighter to them. Vipassana meditation is not an attempt to forget yourself or to cover up your troubles. It is learning to look at yourself exactly as you are to see what is there and accept it fully. Only then can you change it.

Why does understanding the mind matter so much? Because it is the tool that we use to design and manifest our known reality every day of our lives. The heaven or hell that we create in our internal or external lives finds its origins in the mind. If we can understand how the mind works, we can harness and direct it to create the life that we want. But it all comes down to understanding what we’re working with, and it is very difficult to work with something when you don’t understand it. The inability of many people to create the life that they want lies not in the fact that they do not have the ability to do so, but rather in the fact that they do not understand the tool that they are working with, which is the mind.

Silence: The Power of Quiet in a World Full of Noise by Thich Nhat Hanh

In his beautiful new book, Buddhist monk and Nobel Peace Prize nominee Thich Nhat Hanh explains how mindfulness is the practice that stops the noise inside. With gentle anecdotes, simple Buddhist wisdom and practical exercises, he shows us how to live mindfully so that all the internal chatter ceases and we are left with the eloquent sound of silence. Now, at last, we can answer the call of the beauty around us. Through silence Thich Nhat Hanh reveals, we are free to hear, to see - and just be.

Happiness does not neatly fall into our laps. Just as physical fitness needs effort, the mind too requires training. The untrained mind is habituated to taking the path of least resistance. It easily turns pain into thoughts of suffering. People readily become dismal in the face of problems. To counter it, the art of optimism needs to be learnt and made a natural state of mind.
Positive reframing helps us do just that. It is a potent technique for changing our perspective from the deficiencies to the manifold blessings in life. It helps us see the silver lining in the worst of situations. In essence, it enables us to remain spirited through the vicissitudes of life.

Back to Roots

Remember the times you were sick with a fever when you were a little boy or girl? Remember how awful it felt to be so sick? But then your mother or father, or perhaps a grandparent, would put their hand on your burning forehead and it felt so wonderful. You could feel the nectar of love in their hand, and that was enough to comfort and reassure you. Just knowing they were there, beside you, brought relief. If you do not live close to your mother anymore, or if your mother is no longer present in her usual bodily form, you have to look deeply to see that she is in fact always with you. You carry your mother in every cell of your body. Her hand is still in your hand. If your parents have already passed away and you practice looking deeply like this, you can have an even closer relationship with your parents than that of someone whose parents are still alive but who cannot communicate easily with them.

An aging Hindu master grew tired of his apprentice complaining, and so, one morning, sent him for some salt. When the apprentice returned, the master instructed the unhappy young man to put a handful of salt in a glass of water and then to drink it.
“How does it taste?” the master asked.
“Bitter,” spit the apprentice.
The master chuckled and then asked the young man to take the same handful of salt and put it in the lake. The two walked in silence to the nearby lake, and once the apprentice swirled his handful of salt in the water, the old man said, “Now drink from the lake.”
As the water dripped down the young man's chin, the master asked, “How does it taste?”
“Fresh,” remarked the apprentice.
“Do you taste the salt?” asked the master.
“No,” said the young man.
At this, the master sat beside this serious young man who so reminded him of himself and took his hands, offering, “The pain of life is pure salt; no more, no less.

"Ikigai: The Japanese Secret to a Long and Happy Life" is a book written by Héctor García and Francesc Miralles, published in 2016. The book explores the concept of "ikigai," which roughly translates to "reason for being" or "purpose in life."

The book delves into the idea that finding one's ikigai is the key to a long, happy, and fulfilling life. It provides insights and practical advice on how to discover and nurture one's ikigai, based on the authors' research and interviews with centenarians in Okinawa, Japan.

Some key takeaways from the book include:

1. Finding flow in life's activities
2. Embracing curiosity and continuous learning
3. Cultivating a sense of purpose and meaning
4. Nurturing relationships and community
5. Embracing imperfection and impermanence

The book offers a unique perspective on finding happiness and fulfillment, drawing from Japanese culture and philosophy.

"I believe it's unreasonable to consider any Tarot system as the only true one. Tarot is like a centuries-long 'Glass Bead Game.' An interesting and appropriate move in this game can initiate a shift in the field of symbolic interpretations. For example, Éliphas Lévi's reimagining of the XV Arcana as the image of Pan was one such move. 🌚

A few years ago, I created a deck of Major Arcana using a neural network, symbolizing my belief that deep learning will play a key role in the future of our civilization. 🚀
Now, I want to share the Rota Arcana channel, which explores symbolism and myths through the lens of neural networks."

The Buddha came from a royal family in India some twenty-five hundred years ago. He was a prince, named Siddhartha Gautama. He had a very good situation. In the palace he had everything he wanted: good food, good clothes, many beautiful women, a high seat, and a very good position. He was the son of the king, and someday he would inherit a powerful kingdom. That’s very wonderful! But inside, Siddhartha was very unhappy, because he could not understand who he was. He could not understand life or death. He was deeply saddened that all beings must eventually get sick, grow old, and die. This gave him a big question about his own nature and the nature of all beings. “What am I? I don’t know. . . .” At that time in India, the Brahman religion of Hinduism was followed by nearly everyone. But Brahmanism could not give the young prince the correct answer to his burning question. So he was even more unhappy. “Why do human beings come into this world? Why do we eat every day? What am I?” He ate food, but there was no taste. Heard music, but it gave him no pleasure. The beautiful palace became like a prison.
One night, Siddhartha left the palace. He left his family, his beautiful wife, and his infant child, cut off all his hair, and became a monk. Then he went to the mountains. For six years he practiced very, very hard. “What am I? Don’t know . . .” He courageously kept this question with one-pointed determination. Then one morning, while sitting in meditation under the Bodhi tree, he saw the morning star in the eastern sky. At that moment—BOOM!—Siddhartha and this star completely became one. He realized his true substance. He realized that his mind was the universe—infinite in time and space—and the whole universe was nothing other than his own mind. He realized there is no life and no death. Nothing ever comes or goes. We say that he woke up and attained his true nature. He completely attained human consciousness: he saw that when ignorance appears, mind appears. When mind appears, desire appears. When any kind of desire appears, life and death, coming and going, happiness and sadness all appear. By completely keeping a don’t-know mind one hundred percent—only go straight, don’t know—the Buddha saw how to completely stop this endless cycle. He attained complete liberation from the eternal round of birth and death in which all beings trap themselves. He completely attained his correct way, he attained truth, and he attained the correct kind of life he should lead. The name for that is enlightenment.

Adishankara's Mohamudgaram - Shattering of Illusion

Who is thy wife? Who is thy son?
The ways of this world are strange indeed.
Whose art thou? Whence art thou come?
Vast is thy ignorance, my beloved.
Therefore ponder these things and worship the Lord.

Behold the folly of Man:
In childhood busy with his toys,
In youth bewitched by love,
In age bowed down with cares
And always unmindful of the Lord!

The hours fly, the seasons roll,
Life ebbs, but the breeze of hope blows continually in his heart.
Birth brings death, death brings rebirth:
This evil needs no proof.
'Where then, O Man, is thy happiness?

This life trembles in the balance
Like water on a lotus-leaf
And yet the sage can show us, in an instant,
How to bridge this sea of change.

When the body is wrinkled, when the hair turns grey,
When the gums are toothless, and the old man's staff
Shakes like a reed beneath his weight,
The cup of his desire is still full.

Thy son may bring thee suffering,
Thy wealth is no assurance of heaven:
Therefore be not vain of thy wealth,
Or of thy family, or of thy youth
All are fleeting, all must change.
Know this and be free.
Enter the joy of the Lord.
Seek neither peace nor strife
With kith or kin, with friend or foe.
O beloved, if thou wouldst attain freedom,
Be equal unto all.

Healing does not start in the body, so addressing the problems in the body from a physical perspective is not always productive. The diseases you feel within the body are not your real problems but indicators that you have something to fix within your mind system. The cause of the issues relates to how you see yourself and the world from your inner self, directly affecting how you feel in your body.
Healing starts inside the mind and runs through multiple layers, including your thoughts, emotions, and memories, before reaching the physical level. The body is denser than the other etheric layers, and it takes longer for you to feel the effects. However, even if you do not feel immediate changes, they are still happening.

What is going on right now can be stressful. What is going on right now might also be joyful. But it is always real. It is always the reality of the situation. In the relationship between our soul and our will, our soul is like a sail. Once hoisted in the open, our soul is filled by the wind of Spirit, and that wind establishes our course and direction. Our will is our rudder. Its job is to follow where the soul filled with Spirit leads us. Our soul shows us where to go, while our will helps to steer our way there. The times I grow stubborn or confused or lost are the times I lean on my will to make things happen. But forcing things to happen is not its job, though my will wants to take over. The times I feel at one with everything around me, the times I feel certain of my path, are when the sail of my soul is full and I’m being carried toward a vision greater than myself, feeling most alive along the way.
