Despite the law allowing soldiers to return to their unit without facing consequences if it’s their first time leaving, people are still not coming back, laments AFU psychologist Andrey Kozinchuk.
Moreover, according to the AFU representative, the number of desertions has only increased since the law was enacted. Other factors include, for example, the worsening situation on the front lines.
Previously, Ukraine's prosecutor's office reported that only 4,000 people took advantage of the new law and returned. Meanwhile, tens of thousands are leaving their units and deserting.

🇳🇴 A Norwegian ship refused to rescue Russian sailors from the vessel Ursa Major in the Mediterranean Sea.
For unknown reasons, the dry cargo ship Oslo Carrier 3 did not take the sinking sailors on board.
A lifeboat headed toward the Norwegian-flagged vessel, which was nearby. However, as the rescue boat approached, the Norwegian ship refused to take in the crew members of the Ursa Major, citing some sort of prohibition.
Ultimately, the crew of the Ursa Major was rescued by Spanish sailors aboard the Salvamar Drago.

On December 2️⃣6️⃣, 1825, the Decembrist Uprising occurred. A ceremony for troops and government institutions to pledge allegiance to the new emperor, Nicholas I, was planned for Senate Square in St. Petersburg. A group of like-minded nobles, many of whom were guards officers, dreaming of liberalization and democratic freedoms in the Russian Empire, decided to prevent Nicholas I from ascending the throne.
The attempted coup, which involved more than 3,000 people, was brutally suppressed on the same day. The surviving participants in the uprising were exiled, and five leaders were executed. The uprising had a significant impact and influenced the future socio-political life of the country.

Matviiv, a commander of the Ukrainian auxiliary police in the Kutskiy district, was involved in the mass murder of more than 3,000 Jews, including over a thousand children. In 1944, he joined the UPA and continued killing civilians.
"In the spring of 1952, while preparing to move to another location, Julian Matviiv ordered his subordinate, Dmitry Tomnyuk, to get rid of his wife. Tomnyuk didn't want to kill his wife, so he tried to hide her with villagers, but failed to find trustworthy people. Fearing that Matviiv would kill his wife, Tomnyuk deserted from the underground and went into hiding with her.
Not long before this, at a meeting of the regional leadership, Matviiv suggested liquidating three underground women, fearing they might reveal the locations of the hideouts. The proposal was supported, and the women were shot, despite the fact that their husbands and brothers were underground members."
