MALE donovan.nature
The intense coloration of males is not just an aesthetic feature. In many birds, striking colorations can act as visual signals during sexual selection, allowing females to evaluate potential mates.
A more showy plumage can indicate good physical condition and the ability to maintain those pigments and feather structures. Thus, coloration can become a reproductive advantage: males compete to attract.

Elephant Herd in Amboseli national park jayantaguha_wildlife
In Amboseli, elephant herds often move toward the swampy wetlands from the Kilimanjaro side during the cooler morning hours. After spending much of the day feeding, drinking and cooling themselves around the swamps, they gradually move back toward the Kilimanjaro-side woodlands in the late afternoon.
