Additionally, Zohrevand states Iran will soon receive the Chinese-made HQ-9, and the Russian-made Su-35 jets, that Tehran requested over a half decade ago.

🇺🇸🇪🇪🇱🇻🇱🇹 Some American officials are complaining about the aggressive attitude of the EU's foreign policy in regards to Russia, the newspaper, FT writes.

Just beneath the surface, there is real tension between the Trump administration and its Baltic allies. In Washington, I have heard complaints about the “Estonianisation” of European foreign policy — a reference to the fact that Kaja Kallas, the EU’s foreign policy chief, is Estonia’s former prime minister.

In parts of the Trump administration, the Balts are regarded as dangerously aggressive in their attitude to Putin. At a recent high-level Pentagon meeting, Baltic officials were accused of being “ideological” in their opposition to Russia.

The suspicion between the Balts and the US is mutual. In the corridors of the Estonian foreign ministry last week — just outside the offices of the most senior officials — I saw a large reproduction of the vote tally from last February’s UN debate on Ukraine, in which the US voted with the Russians. The message seemed clear. Don’t assume that Trump’s America is on our side.

The largest European countries are much more consistent than the Trump administration in their insistence on the need to counter Russian aggression. But they are also very nervous about the idea of fighting Russia without the US alongside them — witness the agonising about whether a European “reassurance force” could ever be deployed to Ukraine without an American “backstop” behind it.

That's more than the entire population of Scandinavia plus Greece plus Portugal in incel Indian men.

It is underrated how bad this is. Bad for these men, bad for the women many of them will likely harrass, and bad for the instability and emigration pressure this causes.

🇺🇸🇻🇪 Analysis of Sentinel 2 imagery from September 20, 2025, shows a vessel with a highly unique fore and aft superstructure almost identical to the MV Ocean Trader, a US Special Operations Command vessel operating SW of St. Kitts.

The MV Ocean Trader is a fascinating asset. Converted from a commercial Ro-Ro ship, she serves as a clandestine forward operating base, capable of launching small craft and supporting special forces teams while blending in with commercial shipping traffic.

This sighting, if confirmed, represents a significant move.

📝 Carolina Lion on X: So about 15% of all operational US Navy at sea are currently off Venezuela coast - including the USS Iwo Jima Amphibious Assault Group - it also looks like the Special Warfare Support vessel MV Ocean Trader is operating in the area.

🇳🇱🔥 Anti-Immigration Protests in The Netherlands

On Saturday, about 3000 patriots attended an authorized anti-immigration rally organized by the nationalist social media influencer Els Rechts at Malieveld in The Hague. Protesters waved Dutch flags and the orange-white-blue Prinsenvlag to oppose uncontrolled immigration.

The event escalated when a group broke away, stormed the A12 highway, and blocked traffic. Clashes erupted as they attacked police with stones, bottles, fireworks, and flares. Authorities used tear gas to clear the highway and Malieveld, where officials shut down the rally. Burned police vehicles were reported, and some protesters advanced toward the city center.

Protesters set fires and smashed the windows of the D66 party office (Democrats 66 HQ, which is a liberal-centrist political party in the Netherlands). Protesters are chanting "Get rid of asylum centres".

Multiple officers were injured, but no serious protester casualties occurred. At least 20 arrests were made for public violence and unlawful assembly, with investigations continuing into the coordinated disruption.

Uncontrolled immigration has been linked to rising violence and crime in the Netherlands, particularly against women. A 2025 report by the Dutch Ministry of Justice's Research and Documentation Centre noted migrants' overrepresentation in violent crimes by a factor of 2.22 and in sexual offenses by 1.48, despite comprising only 27% of the population.

🇷🇺 The Russian Ministry of Defense retired Colonel-General Alexander Lapin the former commander of the Leningrad Military District and the Army Group "North" in Ukraine.

Lapin, who is 61 years old, is now an aide to the President of Tatarstan, Rustam Minnikhanov.

Lapin was regarded by Russian milbloggers and Western observers as "incompetent". Lapin had been since 2017 the commander of the Central Military District and the Russian effort to capture the Ukrainian capital from the east in the first months of the Russo-Ukrainian war, with the Russian army failing to even enter the city of Kiev, being stopped on the outskirts of Brovary.

After the withdrawal of the Russian army from the Chernigov and Sumy oblasts, Lapin was assigned to the front in the Kharkov direction where in September 2022, Ukraine counterattacked, taking Russian troops completely by surprise and forcing them to withdraw back into Russian territory. At the time, the president of the Republic of Chechnya, Ramzan Kadyrov, publicly insulted Col-Gen. Lapin and said that if he had been his superior, he would have demoted him to the rank of private and taken away his medals.

The Ukrainian counteroffensive led to Lapin being replaced as the commander of the Central Military District. In January 2023, he was assigned as Chief of Staff of the Headquarters of the Russian Ground Forces. In May 2023, Lapin led the counterattack against the incursion into the Belgorod Oblast by Russian paramilitary units with Ukrainian support.

After Finland's entry into NATO in February 2024, Vladimir Putin recreated the Leningrad Military District and assigned Alexander Lapin to this post and made Col-Gen. Yevgeny Nikiforov the new Chief of Staff of the HQ of the Russian Ground Forces. In May 2024, Lapin was assigned to the Army Group "North" defending Kursk oblast, Lapin was said to have dismantled a border guard council which defended the town of Sudzha and may have aided the Ukrainian offensive in that area unknowingly.

Lapin led Russian troops in the Kursk campaign but his career was practically over. In August 2025, news surfaced that Lapin had been removed as the commander of the Leningrad Military District. Two weeks later, the Russian MoD had officially confirmed this decision and announced that Colonel-General Yevgeny Nikiforov would be replacing Lapin.

Nikiforov followed Alexander Lapin since January 2023 when he replaced him as the Commander of the Western Military District. Since the promotion of Nikiforov last August, the Leningrad Military District has seen a surge in activity.

In the span of a couple of days, 19 Russian drones entered Polish airspace, some through Belarus, two Russian MiG-31 fighter jets flew through Estonian airspace and another aircraft flew close to a Polish oil rig in the Baltic Sea.

On September 21st, NATO radars detected an unidentified aircraft in international airspace over the Baltic Sea. When two German jets were scrambled, they identified the aircraft as a Russian IL-20M reconnaissance plane.

Yevgeny Nikiforov has already shown that he is far more proactive than his predecessor. These incidents cannot be dismissed as "random". This is a change of strategy, Russia is testing the NATO's defenses and response time. What ever Nikiforov has planned for NATO remains a mystery but Lapin's departure should worry NATO generals.

American electorate undergoing a tidal shift. Up to 1.4-1.7M Silent Generation voters & 1.0-1.2M Boomer voters die each year. At the same time up to 2.6M Gen Z voters are joining voter rolls annually. Neither Democrats or Republicans have a hold on Gen Z. Interesting times.

Today Boomers are ~26.5% of the electorate, down from 30%+ in 2016 & 28%+ in 2020=>22% 2030. Silent Generation (the most Conservative, traditional American variant, voting generation) will fall from ~9% today to ~5% of the electorate by 2030.

Gen X will see their share of voter roll fall from ~24% today to 22.5% in 2030. Millennials & Gen Z will take over the electorate by 2030 making up ~60% of voters by that time. Millennials will have increased ~27.5% to 35% by 2030. Zoomer voters will double from ~12.5% to 25%.

🇫🇷🤝🇵🇸 — French President Emmanuel Macron to CBS News' Face the Nation:

Israel's security strategy against Hamas has failed.

They killed all the key leaders. This is a success.
But at the beginning of this war, you had more or less 25,000 Hamas fighters. The Israeli army killed probably half, but Hamas managed to recruit the equivalent.

You have as many fighters as at the very beginning, which is the best evidence that if we want to dismantle Hamas, the total war is not the answer because it's just killing the credibility of Israel.

🇪🇺🇺🇸 The EU won’t tariff China and India to please Trump. But it is working on a counteroffer.

Several measures in the European Union’s (EU’s) nineteenth sanctions package against Russia, which European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen announced on Friday, appear tailored to please US President Donald Trump. Yet perhaps the most important signal Brussels aimed to send was that the EU remains committed to phasing out the little that remains of Russian energy imports to the bloc.

Last week, Trump reportedly dialed in unannounced to a meeting between a delegation of EU sanctions experts and US officials, during which he called for the EU to enact steep tariffs on India and China. Then over the weekend, the US president posted on social media that NATO countries should place “50% to 100% TARIFFS ON CHINA, to be fully withdrawn after the WAR with Russia and Ukraine is ended.”

The most common take on Trump’s post is that he is asking for NATO (most of which are also part of the European Union) to do impossible things as a delaying tactic in order not to have to impose sanctions himself.

It is true that this administration takes a dim view of sanctions, which it sees as one of the reasons why countries are looking for alternatives to the dollar. It is also undeniable that Trump is reluctant to impose additional sanctions on Russia. His administration has explained that imposing additional sanctions would risk breaking the already thin ice on which negotiations rest.

On Friday, von der Leyen also spoke about the EU taking tougher stances on China and even India by targeting cryptocurrencies, banking, and energy firms that are helping Russia circumvent sanctions.

Given that Trump has set the bar so high, the risk is that he accepts nothing short of tariffs and even returns to musing about dismantling the current sanctions regime against Russia. But the Europeans should try to engage on what they know Trump really wants: reducing Russia’s energy exports to Europe while keeping global oil prices low.

The EU’s offer to Trump therefore should involve more crackdowns on price-cap evasion, including tougher policing by EU member states such as Denmark of shipments through their waters. Instead of tariffs, the Europeans could also suggest threatening a joint secondary-sanctions regime with the United States, which might be daunting enough for Beijing and New Delhi to consider reducing their purchases of Russian oil and natural gas. Such an outcome could have a significant effect on the global oil market.

🇨🇳🇪🇺 China takes the Arctic Route: First ship set to arrive in Europe via the Northeast Passage

The Europe Arctic Express and could revolutionize European trade, shortening the distance between China and Europe by ten days (it takes 18 days via the Arctic, compared to about 30 using the Suez Canal).

The ship will set sail with 5,000 containers from the port of Qingdao, opposite North Korea, and then dock in Europe at the ports of Felixstowe in Great Britain, Rotterdam, Hamburg, and Gdansk. A stable flow of ships through this new route would render the ports of the Mediterranean marginal.

This revolution was made possible by climate change. The shrinking of the polar ice cap is significantly accelerating the melting of the ice, which in those latitudes is occurring at a rate of 12 percent every ten years. It is only “thanks” to this that one can today speak of a “Northwest Passage.” In recent years, Russian and Chinese container ships have mainly navigated the Arctic route.

According to Norway’s Centre for High North Logistics (CHNL), between the beginning of June and the end of August, approximately 52 Russian or Chinese ships transited through this route, mainly loaded with Russian oil for export.

🇺🇸🇦🇫 Trump is prone to historical mistakes. Claiming the US credit for the Soviet Union's role in building the Bagram airbase is one of them, said Americanist Boris Mezhuyev to the VZGLYAD newspaper.

Earlier, Donald Trump threatened Kabul with "terrible things" if the Bagram airbase is not returned to its founders.

The political scientist reminded that the airbase was built by the Soviet Union back at the dawn of the Cold War – in the 1950s. Later, this site became the most important center of Moscow's military presence in the region during the Afghan war. Soviet troops left this place only at the end of the 1980s due to failures during that campaign.

"Why is Trump even interested in Afghanistan? Most likely, the American leader is dissatisfied with the current level of relations between Kabul and Washington. Moreover, the Taliban are still perceived as a force that managed to defeat the US army," the expert explained.

In his opinion, Trump is trying to intimidate Afghanistan to regain at least a part of the lost influence.
