🇲🇹 A massive explosion completely destroyed the Ta' Lourdes fireworks factory in the Maghtab area this morning at around 06:30 local time. The blast sent a thick plume of smoke high into the air, visible from almost every point on the island, with residents across central and northern towns reporting violent shockwaves shaking their homes.
Two men — aged 67 and 47, both residents of St Paul's Bay — were working in nearby fields at the time and were taken to Mater Dei Hospital, treated for minor injuries and shock. Police confirmed none of the factory's licensed workers were on site when the explosion occurred.
The blast showered a major road linking Salina to Naxxar with large boulders, damaging passing vehicles. The road was closed and the public urged to avoid the area. Local farmers reported livestock casualties. Secondary explosions continued going off hours after the main blast.
Notably, the same factory exploded eight years ago in May 2018, leaving two men seriously injured.

🇷🇸🇷🇺 Serbia is discussing scrapping its visa-free regime with Russia as a condition for EU membership, according to Dragan Stanojević, chairman of the Serbian parliament's committee on diaspora affairs.
Russian Ambassador to Belgrade Alexander Botsan-Kharchenko noted that despite growing EU pressure, Belgrade has not joined sanctions against Moscow, describing Serbia's foreign policy as "balanced and multi-vector."

🇵🇱🇺🇦 Poland backs excluding Ukrainian men of military age from the EU's temporary protection scheme, RMF24 reports citing sources.
Warsaw also supports a gradual rollback of special privileges for Ukrainian refugees in favor of standard EU migration rules.
"From our point of view there is nothing controversial here — people who cannot legally leave Ukraine anyway should not be receiving temporary protection in the EU," a Polish diplomat said.
Warsaw does oppose tiered protection based on region of origin — a model Norway has begun applying — arguing it is unfair since the entire Ukrainian territory is subject to missile strikes.
EU interior ministers will discuss the issue Thursday. The talks are expected to produce a new European Commission proposal to extend protection until 2028, likely with modifications.

On May 30, Kuwaiti air defenses intercepted the missile, but debris struck the base. Two MQ-9 Reaper drones worth up to $30 million each were damaged, and several US troops sustained minor injuries.

In its response, the ministry referred to the "right of Ukraine to self-defense", which "is not limited to its own territory".
