Vladimir Putin has signed a decree setting the authorized strength of Russia’s Armed Forces at 2,391,770 personnel, including 1,502,640 active servicemen.
The decree replaces the 2024 order that set the number of servicemen at 1,500,000. Since 2023, presidential decrees have increased the authorized number of Russian servicemen by 172,640 in total.

Again on the cost of repelling Iranian attacks by Gulf states
News in the style of "Gulf states have air defense missiles left for 2-3 days" — another reason to assess their spending on repelling Iranian attacks. The problem here is that we have limited input data — only official figures on the number of intercepted missiles and drones for Bahrain, UAE, Qatar and Kuwait.
Since all estimates are approximate, for objectivity we'll take them purely at the "lower bound." Let's assume that to intercept "ballistic" missiles, countries used PAC-3 missiles from their Patriot systems. We'll take the minimum consumption — 2 missiles per 1 target.
With drones it's more complicated: short and medium-range air defense systems are almost absent there (we're not counting the remaining Emirati "Pantsirs" that weren't transferred to Libya), and footage of anti-aircraft gun operations is absent. Therefore, we'll assume that AIM-9 and MICA missiles from fighter jets were used. We'll take the minimum consumption — 1 missile per 1 target.
❗️With these parameters, it turns out that over just over three days of conflict, the Gulf states (excluding Saudi Arabia) spent almost $10 billion on air defense/anti-missile systems alone.
And this is the lower bound based on official data: if they spent 4+ missiles instead of 2 to counter Iranian ballistic missiles (which is more realistic), fired "Patriots" at drones, or used THAAD anti-missile systems costing $20 million each, the sum increases many times over.
So even for wealthy Persian Gulf states, countering Iranian strikes is an expensive affair. Especially considering they bear the costs of someone else's military operation.

Continuing our rough estimates of costs for repelling Iranian attacks in the Middle East, a rather amusing article appeared in Bloomberg. Qatar's stockpile of Patriot air defense missiles at current consumption rates will last four days.
This despite the fact that Qatar spent years buying air defense missiles for the Patriot system from the Americans and practically never used them. There were episodes with previous Iranian attacks, but they're hardly worth counting. In other words, accumulated stockpiles were depleted in just three days.
📌How this will affect the defense of the entire Persian Gulf even if the war ends – there's no need to even discuss. It will take years and billions to replenish all the missiles used on new contracts with the same American lobby that is already rubbing its hands together.
Therefore, countries in the region should think carefully about the price of "American protection." The economic damage is already being felt by all countries, defense is weakened, the population is dissatisfied, and dependence on the US grows with every missile spent.
