A U.S. plane designed to track nuclear testing in the atmosphere flew close to Russia's nuclear bases in the northwest of the country on Tuesday, flight data showed.
A U.S. Air Force WC-135R aircraft took off from RAF Mildenhall, a major U.K. base in the east of England, before traveling north along the coast west of Norway, according to the flight-tracking platform Flightradar24.
The aircraft, identified by the call sign COBRA29, then circled around the Barents Sea, north of Murmansk and west of the Russian Arctic archipelago of Novaya Zemlya, before returning to the U.K. almost 14 hours later.

into a subject Carlos Ruiz. Ruizβs crimes were some of the worst weβve seen. He was part of online groups that prided themselves on exploiting children. Ruiz directly delivered a young child to another subject in Texas where that young child was then sexually abused. Unfortunately, they werenβt the only victim, but our investigators made sure he wouldnβt do it again. Ruiz will now spend 80 years behind bars for sexually abusing multiple children as young as 2 and 3 years old and filming the abuse.

Russian President Vladimir Putin held talks with President Trump's special envoy Steve Witkoff in Moscow Wednesday, the Kremlin said, days before the White House's deadline for Russia to reach a peace deal with Ukraine or potentially face severe economic penalties that could also hit countries buying its oil.
The Kremlin didn't immediately provide more details of the meeting. Earlier, Witkoff took an early morning stroll through Zaryadye Park, a stone's throw from the Kremlin, with Kirill Dmitriev, the Russian president's envoy for investment and economic cooperation, footage aired by Russian news agency TASS showed.
Dmitriev played a key role in three rounds of direct talks between delegations from Russia and Ukraine in Istanbul in recent months, as well as discussions between Russian and U.S. officials. The negotiations have made no progress on ending the three-year war following Russia's invasion of its neighbor.
Mr. Trump's deadline for Putin ends Friday. Washington has threatened "severe tariffs" and other economic penalties if the killing doesn't stop.
