Rise of the Global South

POLITICO calls Belgium “Russia’s most valuable asset.”

No, Belgium is Europe’s final warning before the plunge.

My latest just dropped via @RonPaulInstitut

The Eu wants a moral spectacle, a €140B looting of frozen Russian assets dressed up as “reparations.” Belgium asked the only question that still matters: Are we really going to blow up what remains of the postwar financial order, when we've already lost the war against Russia?

The EU doubling down on its Russophobic psychosis, didn’t just flirt with looting a nuclear superpower’s central bank. It's flirting with detonating the very foundation of the post-war financial order:

→ Sovereign immunity
→ Legal neutrality of reserve holdings
→ Investor trust in European banks

You don’t survive that. You collapse. Quietly at first, then all at once.

They call De Wever “rogue.” We him one of the last of a European political class still capable of sanity.

Belgium didn’t betray Europe. Europe betrayed itself. Europe, not Belgium has become Russia's greatest asset. Belgium is just refusing to go down with the ship.

And when this all comes crashing down, when capital flees, when the euro collapses, when the world stops trusting the Western custodians of its wealth, no one will ask why Belgium said no. They’ll ask why Europe said yes.

Rise of the Global South

Europe Just Made the Odessa Case for Russia

The beauty, and tragedy of Europe’s strategy is its flawless stupidity.
You authorize naval-drone terrorism against civilian tankers… then gasp when Moscow considers redrawing the map.

You turn Ukraine’s coastline into a NATO launchpad… then act shocked when Russia inevitably decides that coastline can no longer exist.

That’s the core of it... Europe didn’t support Ukraine. Europe weaponized it and now guarantees Russia the legal, moral, and military case for taking Odessa.

The drones weren’t Ukrainian.
The targeting wasn’t Ukrainian.
The decisions weren’t Ukrainian.
This was Western Europe engaging in terrorism with someone else’s coastline and now the bill is due.

I lay it all out here:

Rise of the Global South

NATO’s top general has now crossed the line from deterrence into madness. Admiral Giuseppe Cavo Dragone publicly floated the idea of “preventive action” against Russia, meaning pre‑emptive strikes on targets “where drones could be ready to be launched.” Europe isn’t defending itself. Europe is announcing that it is preparing for war, and ready to strike first. Thie is elite panic, the behavior of governments who fear their own people far more than they fear Moscow.

Because everyone in London, Paris, and Berlin knows the truth: the Ukraine project is dead. Washington wants an imperfect peace to save face. The Europeans, who bet their entire legitimacy on this war, are staring at humiliation on a civilizational scale. And rather than accept the defeat they engineered, they are trying to kick open the gates of escalation to delay their own political reckoning. This is what desperation looks like when it wears ornamental medals and uniforms, in lieu of actual power.

The Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs called Dragone’s remarks “an extremely irresponsible step,” accusing NATO of moving deeper into escalation. They’re right. When the alliance’s top military officer publicly discusses first‑strike logic against a nuclear superpower, it means Europe’s political class is out of strategic options and terrified of domestic consequences. They know what’s coming when this war finally ends: elections that will sweep them out, streets that boil with unrest, and populations that will demand answers for a decade of lies, economic ruin, and psychosis masquerading as delusion.

This is why they escalate. Not to beat Russia, they know they cannot, but to outrun the judgment building inside their own borders. Starmer stares at a Britain that is finished with fantasy. Macron hears the footsteps from the banlieues and the boulevards. German elites know their post‑industrial experiments have collapsed. Most European capitals are ruled by a class that has run out of legitimacy, out of narratives, and out of time.

So they gamble the only thing they have left, the continent itself. If that means suggesting preemptive strikes on Russia, something that would have been unthinkable a decade ago, they will do it. If that means drowning Eastern Europe in fire to postpone political collapse in Western Europe, they will do it.

NATO’s latest rhetoric isn’t strategy, but the death rattle of a political class that knows its time is up.

Because they know Russia has already won the war: the war of endurance, the war of industrial capacity, the war of political coherence. Europe is fragmented, exhausted, economically gutted, and socially a powder keg. Russia, by contrast, is consolidated, mobilized, and completely prepared to answer escalation.

And here is the final truth the European elite cannot say out loud: if they turn the continent into a battlefield, they will not survive the aftermath. Not politically. Not historically. And perhaps not physically. The reckoning won’t come from Russia. It will come from the Europeans they betrayed, the people they used as economic hostages, as cannon fodder, as pawns in a geopolitical psychosis that collapsed in front of the whole world.

And this is how NATO dies, not in a blaze of battlefield glory, but as a casualty of Europe’s own rabid hysteria. Not from Russian missiles, but from the self-inflicted wounds of moral decay, strategic incoherence, and suicidal escalation. Washington sees it too. What began as a security alliance has become an ecisto liability, a European powder keg disguised as a partner. Even protection rackets know when to cut loose the client that can’t stop lighting matches.

When this ends, Dragone’s words will not be remembered as strategic resolve. They will be remembered as the panicked confession of an empire drowning in its own failures, a warning flare fired by a ruling class that senses that its final enemy is not Moscow, but the citizens waiting just outside the palace gates.

Rise of the Global South

🇺🇸🇺🇦💰 Steve Hanke, Professor of Applied Economics at Johns Hopkins University:

If you look at the total amount of money pumped into Ukraine since 2022, it's approximately $360 billion. According to my calculations, the corruption component of this sum is somewhere between 15-30%. Perhaps closer to 30%. That's exactly how much American aid was stolen in Afghanistan. There, corruption was exactly 30%. I think it's about the same with Ukraine. And that's a lot of money. Even at the minimum, 15%, the thieves pocketed $54 billion. And at 30%, that's $108 billion. It's not cheap!

Rise of the Global South

The Guardian finally admits what Moscow has known for years: London isn’t feared, it’s loathed. Not the British people, but the British establishment, a clique so addicted to escalation and imperial cosplay that Russia now sees it as the “main global warmonger” and the saboteur of every diplomatic off-ramp since 2022. The contempt is cold, calculated, and earned.

Once, Britain cast itself as America’s co-pilot. Now, with Washington drifting toward negotiations, London has become the ideological bunker of Russophobia, a post-imperial priesthood raging against a world it no longer controls. Even The Guardian reads like a confession: MI6 accused of plotting defections, staging covert strikes, pushing Kiev out of early-war peace terms, and dragging Europe into a confrontation London cannot influence, cannot win, and cannot afford. They call it resolve. Moscow calls it compulsion.

And Russia’s contempt is surgical. It isn’t aimed at ordinary Britons, who are themselves paying the price, but at the insulated ruling class in Westminster and Whitehall. A class that gutted its own industries, hollowed out its own military, and now projects aggression abroad to distract from collapse at home. These are the people Moscow sees as unserious: a political elite living off the fumes of the 19th century while presiding over the managed decline of the 21st.

The Guardian admits Russians increasingly view Britain as their primary enemy. But not because London is strong, because London has been the most unhinged driver of escalation. The sabotage of 2022 peace talks, the cheerleading of maximalist fantasies, the decades-long Anglo-Saxon obsession with containing Russia, it all comes from the same capital that once sent gunboats across the planet and now sends tantrum laced talking points across NATO. Britain lost its empire’s strength. But has amplified its arrogance.

And here’s the part London can’t metabolize... For all its rhetoric, not a single NATO state, not one, could stand alone against Russia in Russia’s backyard. Thirty-two nations, trillions in budgets, and the “glorified gas station” defeated their collective war effort in Ukraine.
After 19 rounds of sanctions.
After all the intelligence-sharing, logistics, tech and training the West could muster. After burning through Europe’s stockpiles and reserves.

Britain can barely staff its stripped down navy. It can’t build enough artillery to supply a week of modern combat. Yet it imagines itself the architect of Russia’s containment.

Russia does not see a peer. It sees a wannabe has-been, a nuclear-armed irritant pretending to be a great power, best suited for mockery if its desperation weren’t so dangerously wrapped in sabotage and escalation. Moscow sees an establishment lashing out from the bottom of the geopolitical pyramid, punching wildly above its weight, dragging Europe toward ruin rather than admitting that the world has already shifted into multipolar reality.

History isn’t leaving London behind, London walked off the stage, mistaking its nostalgia for power and its propaganda and tantrums for deterrence.

The world has moved on. Russia has moved on. Only Britain’s ruling class is still pretending the empire is breathing.

Rise of the Global South

🇬🇧 Now Published at the Ron Paul Institute - Britain’s Ruling Class Loves to Cosplay as a Titan

Britain talks war like a titan and budgets like a charity case. Starmer delays defence plans over “affordability,” a £6+ billion armoured vehicle program injures its own soldiers, and Whitehall keeps commissioning reviews while pretending this is strength. The rhetoric is Churchillian. The reality is procurement collapse.

Meanwhile, the same ruling class sneers at Russia as a “gas station” — even as Russia, under sanctions, outproduces NATO in ammunition, adapts battlefield lessons in months, and ranks as the world’s fourth-largest economy by purchasing power. If Russia is a gas station, Britain increasingly looks like a heritage museum with a gift shop, living off memory while outsourcing its future.

This piece isn’t about slogans or moral theatre. It’s about material power, industrial capacity, and the danger of a political class that mistakes performance for strength. When rhetoric races far ahead of reality, history doesn’t intervene gently, it intervenes brutally.

Rise of the Global South

“Whatever you do, don’t mention the origins of the war!”

You’ve still got it, John... British satire at its finest. But let’s be fair: if what Russia fears is “democracy,” what was NATO doing funding coups, installing puppets, banning opposition parties, outlawing language rights, and bombing their way through the Balkans, Iraq, Libya, and Afghanistan in democracy’s name?

Russia doesn't fear democracy.

But i fear what the West now markets as democracy: illegal blockades, coups, proxy wars, and media censorship wrapped in rainbow flags and drone strikes.

If that’s democracy, then yes... Russia is terrified. But so is most of the planet!

Rise of the Global South

Europe Is About to Commit Financial Self-Immolation And Its Leaders Know It

Italy’s decision to stand with Belgium against the confiscation of Russian sovereign assets is not a diplomatic footnote. It is a moment of clarity breaking through the fog of performative morality that has engulfed Brussels.

Strip away the slogans and the truth is unavoidable: the seizure of Russian sovereign reserves will not change the course of the war in Ukraine by a single inch.

This is not about funding Ukraine, it is about whether sovereign property still exists in a Western financial system that has quietly replaced law with cult-like obedience.

That is why panic has entered the room.

The European Commission wants to pretend this is a clever workaround, a one-off, an emergency measure wrapped in legal contortions and moral posturing masquerading as hysteria. But finance does not function on intentions, rage or narratives. It functions on precedent, trust, and enforceability. And once that trust is broken, it does not return.

The modern global financial system rests on a single, unglamorous principle, that State assets held in foreign jurisdictions are legally immune from political confiscation.

That principle underwrites reserve currencies, correspondent banking, sovereign debt markets, and cross-border investment. It is why central banks like Russia's (once) accept euros instead of bullion shipped under armed guard. It is why settlement systems like Euroclear exist at all.

Once that rule is broken, capital does not debate. It reprices risk instantly and it leaves.

Confiscation sends a message to every country outside the Western political orbit: your savings are safe only as long as you remain politically compliant.

That is not a rules-based order. It is a selectively enforced order whose rules change the moment compliance ends. What we have is a compliance cartel, enforcing law upward and punishment downward, depending on who obeys and who resists.

Belgium’s fear is not legalistic. It is actuarial. Hosting Euroclear means hosting systemic risk. If Russia or any future target, successfully challenges the seizure, Belgium could be exposed to claims that dwarf the sums being discussed. Belgium is therefore right to be skeptical of Europe’s promise to underwrite such colossal risk, given the bloc’s now shattered credibility. No serious financial actor would treat such guarantees as reliable.

Italy’s hesitation is not ideological. It is mathematical. With one of Europe’s heaviest debt burdens, Rome understands what happens when markets begin questioning the neutrality of reserve currencies and custodians.

Neither country suddenly developed sympathy for Moscow. They simply did the arithmetic before the slogans.

Paris and London, meanwhile, thunder publicly while quietly insulating their own commercial banks’ exposure to Russian sovereign assets, exposure measured not in rhetoric, but in tens of billions. French financial institutions alone hold an estimated €15–20 billion, while UK-linked banks and custodial structures account for roughly £20–25 billion, much of it routed through London’s clearing and custody ecosystem rather than sitting on government balance sheets.

This hypocrisy and cowardice are not accidental. Paris and London sit at the heart of global custodial banking, derivatives clearing, and FX settlement, nodes embedded deep within the plumbing of global finance. Retaliatory seizures or accelerated capital flight would not be symbolic for them; they would be catastrophic.

So the burden is shifted outward. Smaller states are expected to absorb systemic risk while core financial centers preserve deniability, play a double game, and posture as virtuous.

This is anything but European solidarity. It is class defense at the international level.

Rise of the Global South

It’s strange, in a way almost ceremonial, when a state chooses to reveal what it has become.

All I did was speak freely. And in response, the French government stepped forward — calmly, politely, bureaucratically, to correct me. That alone tells you where we are.

Think about that. A continent with a shrinking industrial base now claims the right to police the global public square, to dictate not only what Europeans may say, but what the world may say on platforms it does not own, in jurisdictions it does not govern, under laws no citizen ever voted for.

This is not regulation. This is extra-territorial censorship disguised as simple consumer protection.

And France, the country of Voltaire, Hugo, Zola; the country that once staged revolutions merely to remind kings who ruled whom, now deploys bureaucrats to inspect online metaphors like customs officers inspecting luggage for contraband.

That is the tragedy. Not merely the censorship, but the collapse of a national soul.

De Gaulle once said that France could not be France without grandeur. Today, greatness has been replaced by grievance and debate by digital supervision. A Republic that once defied empires now behaves like a minor prefecture of an anxious EU superstate, terrified of what its own citizens might think if left unmonitored.

This is why the DSA exists. Because Europe’s elites have lost the argument, lost the public, and lost the confidence to face either. So they turn to an Orwellian control structure. To fines for tech companies that refuse secret deals made in the shade. To algorithmic control. To interface mandates. To “trusted flaggers.” To researchers chosen like clergy. To a Ministry of Truth that corrects citizens the way colonial officers once corrected subjects.

And when French Response quotes legal articles at me, it isn’t offering clarity. It’s confessing panic. It’s revealing that the ruling class no longer fears Russia or China or disinformation, it fears the awakening of and reckoning from its own population.

They quoted Articles 25, 39, 40 as though reciting scripture. But each one is a stepping stone in a system that has abandoned persuasion for bureaucratic compulsion:

Art. 25 — “redesign interfaces we don’t like.”
Art. 39 — “expose your ad networks to us.”
Art. 40 — “hand over your data to researchers we control.”

And looming over all of it: The threat to annihilate any platform that does not comply.

A state does not build a Ministry of Truth to protect the truth. It builds it to protect itself from the people who can recognize it.

France knows this. Brussels knows this. Every EU government now enforcing the DSA knows this. The only ones they hope won’t realize it are the citizens, which is why even a single dissenting sentence must be supervised.

But of course they didn’t reply to correct me. They replied because I said something they can no longer afford to hear echoed.

And here is the final truth, the one that ends the illusion... When the Republic begins policing speech, it is no longer a Republic, only a weak power in its most frightened form. And the ruling class knows one thing above all, that if Europe could vote on the Europe that exists today, this Europe would not survive the night.

Rise of the Global South

The White House published what Brussels has spent a decade censoring: Europe has shrunk from 25% of global GDP to 14%, is drifting toward “civilizational erasure,” and on its current course “will be unrecognizable in 20 years.” Not Russian intelligence. Not dissident analysts. Washington, in its own national strategy, marking the time of death.

Europe’s tragedy isn’t that it was defeated by an external force. Its tragedy is that it volunteered for collapse, mistaking moral vanity for strategy, self-harm for principle, and neocon applause for sovereignty. 19 rounds of sanctions meant to cripple Russia instead detonated inside Europe’s own chest cavity; industries fleeing, energy gutted, borders unmoored, farmers revolting, wages eroding, dissent criminalized under “values” crafted by technocrats who have never worked a real job, with utter contempt for Europeans.

And while Europe recited slogans, Russia built substance, built an economic juggernaut. The “gas station with nukes” they mocked is now the 4th largest economy on Earth by PPP, expanding faster than the entire European Union since the SMO began, reindustrializing, reorienting, rewiring Eurasia. The target of Europe’s crusade grew stronger, the crusaders grew poorer. This wasn’t irony. This was inevitability.

Now comes the most brutal line in the US strategy: the warning that some European states soon “may not be strong enough to remain reliable allies.” This is Washington stepping back from a burning house with the calm of an arsonist writing the incident report. The very patron that pushed Europe toward confrontation, long before Trump, is now drafting its alibi, framing Europe’s collapse as an unfortunate accident rather than the predictable consequence of policies its Deepstate encouraged and Brussels enforced with missionary zeal.

The EU won’t recognize the downloading of humiliation, because it arrived disguised as loyalty, and because the script being used to abandon the continent is the same script Europe still insists on performing.

A continent that once birthed Western civilization now prosecutes its citizens for speech, crushes its own farmers under riot shields, torches its industry for green dogma, and markets the whole spectacle as enlightenment. It surrendered its energy to ideology, its industry to Davos hallucinations, its security to America's whims, and its future to compound interest. A civilization cannot live on abstractions, but its elites can, because they have engineered a system where the costs fall on the people and the graft float upward to those who never bear the consequences.

The NSS isn’t a strategy. It’s a confession in plain sight; Russia absorbed the blow, recalibrated, and rose; Europe dissolved into the very illusions it mistook for strength, while Washington, already preparing the next chapter, quietly wipes its hands of the consequences.

Continental Europe once held 25% of global GDP. Today it clings to 14%, nearly half its global weight erased in a single generation. Not by invasion. Not by Putin. By decisions its own elites made freely. Europe was no prisoner. It was not dragged into this. It chose ideology over energy security, fantasy over industry, obdience over sovereignty. It had the power to act like a civilization, and acted instead like a petulant, arrogant vassal.

They swore Russia would disappear.
Yet she stands rooted, sovereign, expanding, the Eurasian pole they insisted could never exist. Its economy rises into the world’s top four while Europe implodes. Its industrial base grows while Europe’s corrodes.

And it is Europe that dims: censored, exhausted, directionless, governed by elites who call obedience maturity and dependency enlightenment. A continent once central to world history now drifts unrecognizable even by the ally that encouraged its self-destruction and now drafts the alibi from afar.

The EU tried to erase Russia. In reality, Europe erased itself. And Washington just wrote the obituary.

Rise of the Global South

The empire handed them the corpse of Ukraine, and Europe said “thank you.” Not a formal protest. Just one word, mitigate. After Nord Stream, after millions displaced, after deindustrializing their own people, they’re too spineless to even tell Trump “no.” This is a funeral procession for the EU led by cowards.

This peace plan, Trump’s plan, is a circus. But like all good circuses, it serves a purpose, misdirection while the real act unfolds elsewhere. Washington is done with Ukraine. The full pivot to China has already begun. All that’s left is to offload the rotting carcass of this failed proxy war onto Europe and let London and the EU keep pretending they matter.

And predictably, pathetically, they accept the burden like the obedient functionaries they’ve become. No strategy. No sovereignty. Just a trained reflex to obey and "mitigate." Not our word.. straight from Politico.

Yes, mitigate. That was the word Europe’s elite settled on, not resist, not oppose, not challenge. Mitigate. It’s a word that belongs in law textbooks, not geopolitics. It’s the vocabulary of a bureaucracy managing its own decline. A continent that once set the world’s course now asks how politely it can adjust the margins of its own surrender.

They huddle in Johannesburg, issuing statements of “concern,” while Trump spits in their faces with deadlines and ultimatums. We love it. And they call that diplomacy. They smile while he wipes the floor with their dignity. And the truth is: they earned it. Every humiliating second of it.

Because this is the same Europe that stayed silent while Nord Stream was blown up — the single most strategic infrastructure in modern Germany and then thanked their attacker with new LNG contracts and cheerful subservience. This is the same Europe that sacrificed its own middle class on the altar of “standing with Kiev,” only to now whimper about budget shortfalls and “sustainable aid packages.” So desperate is their plight, they'll risk what remains of their financial order to steal Russian soverign assets.

Trump’s deal has at least a few points Russia would never accept and everyone in the room knows it. But Moscow won’t kill it. That’s not the move. Russia will let Zelensky and the Europeans do it... publicly, predictably, and fatally.

Because that’s the brilliance here:
Putin says it’s “a good foundation.” Not perfect. Not final. But a foundation. That single word shifts the burden.

Now the ones rejecting peace while demanding at seat at Putin's table, will be the same ones who screamed “no negotiations” for four bloody years. Now the ones sabotaging diplomacy, will be the same ones demanding “rules-based order.”

Russia walks away looking like the mature Great Power that she is. Europe walks away exposed, not just as losers, but as frauds.

Ukraine was sacrificed and not by Moscow, but by the Atlanticist elite. Sacrificed for a fantasy. Sacrificed to “weaken Russia.”
Sacrificed to delay a multipolar future that’s already here.

And who led that sacrifice?
London. The chaos agent. The midwife of every modern disaster in Eastern Europe. It was Downing Street that sabotaged Istanbul. It was MI6 that helped birth “Spiderweb.” It was Britain that told Zelensky to fight to the last Ukrainian, and the EU cheered like trained seals.

This is not the return of diplomacy. Although the US and Russia are talking which is good. But this is ultimately, the redistribution of failure.

And now that failure is being handed back to Europe, like a flaming briefcase no one wants to open. Trump doesn’t care if the plan fails. That’s the beauty of it. He gets the headlines for “seeking peace.” He gets to say, “I tried.” And he gets to walk away while Europe owns the war, the debt, the inevitable escalation sans article 5, the migrants, the funerals, the shame.

Let them mitigate. Let them manage their own irrelevance and humiliation. Let them carry the ghost of a war they helped unleash.

Russia will outlast them all.

Rise of the Global South

NATO having spent $400B, armed 32 countries to the teeth, and still got humiliated by the glorified gas station they mocked for decades, and now Finland’s defense minister is lashing out at China because he can’t face the truth: Russia crushed the West’s entire Ukraine project, and the people who promised “as long as it takes” are choking on their own failure.

What Antti Hakkanen calls “China massively financing Russia’s war chest” is nothing but the howl of a man watching the myth collapse. He’s not revealing Chinese financial aid, it doesn't exist, he’s mourning. Mourning the fantasy that Western sanctimony could bend Eurasia into submission. Mourning the delusion that sanctions would break Russia. Mourning the fairy tale that Europe’s rusted militaries, hollow economies, and performative moralism could stop a country that actually knows how to fight. When a $400B project collapses in real time, projection becomes doctrine. We were humiliated so badly by the gas station, let's blame China, then it doesn't sound quite as humiliating. That western ROI, is absolutely humiliating for the West.

And while these ministers flail, the truth they avoid is the truth they fear: Russia didn’t just survive the siege, it grew stronger, and is now an economic superpower, thanks to European sanctions. Production up. Trade soaring. A yuan–ruble axis that outflanks the dollar-euro Ponzi. An army that out-produces all of NATO’s munitions lines combined. And a political class that didn’t buckle when every Western capital bet the house on collapse. The West is left blaming Beijing, because blaming themselves would mean facing the magnitude of their humiliation.

But beneath all this geopolitical cope lies the ugliest truth of all, the industrial-scale laundering that turned Ukraine into a gold rush for Western contractors and Ukrainian elites. While Ukrainian soldiers bled in mud, the presidential inner circle lined pockets with wartime energy contracts, nuclear-grid kickbacks, and foreign aid skimmed through shell firms that all led back to the same small circle of insiders. Golden toilets. Monaco apartments. Offshore accounts fattened while families froze in high-rise stairwells during blackouts. And one day, when this war finally ends and the spell breaks, Ukraine’s own citizens will turn around and see who sold them to the highest bidder. Not Moscow. Not Beijing. But the very handlers who promised salvation and delivered only debt, depopulation, and graves. There is no amnesty in history for leaders who steal from their own dead.

Finland isn’t sounding an alarm, but it is confessing defeat. Because if a “gas station with nukes” can defeat 32 NATO militaries, devour $400B in Western investment, and still push relentlessly through Pokrovsk, then it isn’t a gas station at all — it’s a civilization with a memory, a spine, and an economy immune to Western fantasies. What broke wasn’t Russia. What broke was the illusion that the West still commands the world.

And here’s the real sting: China didn’t break NATO’s strategy, NATO’s arrogance did.

A hubris so blinding they mistook their own propaganda for reality. A delusion so deep they believed history had ended. A failure so absolute the only thing left is to blame the rising world for refusing to drown with them.

That’s the verdict of this war.
Not just defeat, exposure. And no minister in Helsinki can spin that away.
