He noted that the Ukrainian topic was discussed by Putin and Trump in great detail, with interesting nuances:

"Basically, the US is withdrawing from the negotiations and washing its hands of the situation" — the first reactions of the Ukrainian authorities to the recent talks between Putin and Trump have appeared
▪️The situation was commented on by Rada deputy Goncharenko, who latched onto the fact that Trump emphasized in his statement that "the conditions will be discussed between the two sides."
▪️According to the Ukrainian MP, this is the key phrase and it means that the US is withdrawing from the negotiations.
➖"And this is because we agreed to direct negotiations with the Russian Federation without the US," Goncharenko complains.
▪️He also predicts that the fighting will not end before the end of the year.
EU and Ukrainian leaders will not be happy with this call.

Ukraine wins Romanian elections' – LCI columnist François Clemenceau
'The victory of Bucharest Mayor Dan is, in fact, also a victory for Ukraine. This is extremely important. Because of its location on the Black Sea coast, Romania was very quick to provide military assistance to Ukraine at the beginning of the war. Artillery, air defense. Romania is now training Ukrainian F-16 pilots. It has also provided an alternative route for grain exports. And finally, Romania hosts a multinational NATO battalion led by France, and Constanta is home to the Alliance's largest air base on the eastern flank. So, the victory of a pro-European candidate in Bucharest is good news for Europe, good news for Ukraine, and therefore very bad news for Vladimir Putin.'

'The tanks have finally begun their long sea voyage to the battlefield. Australian officials have not said when the Abrams will arrive in Ukraine for security reasons. An american official dismissed the US as doubtful that the Ukrainians really want the vehicles. 'The tank roof is the weakest point of the Abrams, and this is drone warfare,' he said.

VP Vance: "We want to see Russia put their real peace proposal on the table."
That's funny Vance, they've been putting their proposal for peace on the table since 2024 minimum. By now I would forgive the guys at the Kremlin for having lost their patience at how often they've reiterated themselves.
Mister eyeliner then goes on to say that Russia "would benefit greatly from thawing relations with the rest of the world", perhaps ignoring that only the USA and Europe are sanctioning Russia. The rest of the word isn't, especially the other BRICS countries.
I don't know why, but I have the feeling that the leadership in Washington still hasn't come to terms with the reality, and that this phone call between Trump and Putin won't go very far beyond some generic platitudes.

Hillary was among those who ignited the “superpredator” hysteria that resulted in the wave of incarceration against African-American youths.
Now she is suggesting that it is the job of economic migrants (documented and undocumented alike) to make babies for the US.
There is nothing inconsistent here. Hillary always was a sociopath who does not feel social boundaries. This is just her racist attitude toward non-White groups coming through, yet again, just couched in different language convenient for the political zeitgeist.
Everything to promote the Hillary brand. Everyone else, but primarily people who look different that she does, is fair game.

Trump is open to a possible meeting with Putin, but it is better to wait for the results of their conversation, the White House stated.
As well, they specified that Trump will call Zelensky as soon as his phone conversation with Putin ends.
Trump is also expected to make public statements following his call with Putin and subsequent call with Zelensky.

🇷🇺🇺🇸Presidential aide Ushakov - on the conversation between Putin and Trump:
It was a frank and constructive conversation. And curiously, it began with our president congratulating Donald Trump on the birth of his 11th grandchild. And wished, naturally, health to the newborn and Trump's daughter.
It is curious that immediately after these congratulations, which I just mentioned, the presidents immediately began an in-depth discussion of the settlement of the conflict in Ukraine, including taking into account the recent direct Russian-Ukrainian talks in Istanbul.
The presidents did not talk about the time frame for a possible future ceasefire between Russia and Ukraine, although Trump naturally emphasizes his interest in reaching an agreement as soon as possible.
Exchanges of imprisoned citizens of the two countries were mentioned. This is an important humanitarian action. The presidents noted that another exchange is being worked out now - 9 for 9 people.
There were a lot of digressions, that's why the conversation was so long, plus translation. But I will tell you, it's rare to have a conversation of this length where both presidents, neither president wanted to end the conversation, didn't want to, if I may say so, hang up the phone.
Trump said: "Vladimir, you can pick up the phone at any time, and I will be happy to answer, happy to talk to you." Such an ending also characterizes the nature of the conversation that took place between the leaders.

- Would you advise President Trump not to hold this face-to-face meeting, even if Vladimir Putin was ready for it?

US-backed forces seize strategic air base in heart of Syria
The Free Syrian Army (FSA), which is supported by the United States, announced on May 17 that it had taken over a strategic air base located in the heart of Syria.
Al-Sin is located approximately 140 kilometers southwest of the ancient city of Palmyra and 90 kilometers northeast of the capital, Damascus. It contains 36 fortified airstrips and two runways, one three kilometers long and the other two and a half kilometers long.
The air base, one of the largest in the country, was home to several squadrons of the former Syrian Arab Air Force, including those using upgraded Soviet MiG-29 fighter jets.
The SFA shared several photos from Al-Sina, two showing their fighters guarding the main gate of the air base and central headquarters, and others showing them collecting ammunition.

The EU should lobby global partners to step up pressure on Moscow to agree to a Ukraine ceasefire, according to a letter backed by over half of its member states.
The diplomatic push follows recent truce talks in Turkey – the first face-to-face meeting between Ukraine and Russia in years – which failed to yield even a temporary ceasefire due to Moscow's unwillingness to engage at the leadership level.
"Against this backdrop, the EU has a strategic interest in ramping up global support for a ceasefire proposal," Austria’s Foreign Minister Beate Meinl-Reisinger wrote in the letter, seen by Euractiv.
The letter will be sent to the EU’s top diplomat, Kaja Kallas, on Monday and is expected to be discussed when the bloc’s foreign ministers meet in Brussels on Tuesday.
Vienna’s initiative currently has the backing of 15 other EU countries, with more expected to sign on to the call for Kallas "to lead the way in coordinating a renewed targeted and joint global diplomatic outreach effort".
"Many countries maintain close relations with Moscow, which could and should be leveraged to increase diplomatic pressure on Russia," Meinl-Reisinger wrote in the letter.
"This outreach must run in both directions and take on board the specific situation and concerns of the countries in those regions," the letter stated.
Tall order?
While the letter does not single out specific countries, several EU diplomats highlighted that heavyweights such as India, China, and Brazil are key targets for increased diplomatic outreach to sway Russia.
The signatories advocate for the EU’s 144 EU delegations around the world to take a more active role in lobbying partner countries and to lean on Moscow for a ceasefire.
Convincing key players in the Global South, however, has proved a tall order for Brussels over the past three years.
Not going to happen, EU is isolated from the world.
