Germany announced 125,000 industrial job cuts in 6 weeks.
Putting that into perspective... If the U.S. got hit at the same rate, that’s like ~300,000 factory jobs or ~500,000 total jobs gone in a month and a half.
Picture every factory worker in a state like South Carolina unemployed.
That’s the scale.

On the eve of Trump's visit to the United Kingdom, opponents of the American president organized a series of protests in Windsor.
On the steps of the castle where Trump was supposed to stay, a banner depicting Jeffrey Epstein, accused of pedophilia, was unfurled, and nearby there was a giant canvas about 400 square meters in size featuring Trump and Epstein.
Also, last night a video about Trump's connections with Epstein was projected onto the castle facade. Images of one of Epstein's victims, Virginia Giuffre, and his accomplice Ghislaine Maxwell also appeared on the walls.
It is unknown whether Trump, who arrived in London overnight, was already in the castle at that time.
The police stopped the video projection and detained at least four participants. In the past day, two men who were flying drones over Windsor during Trump's visit were also arrested.

Kupyansk direction.
Hostilities are ongoing in the areas of Sobolevka, Moskovka, Radkovka, and the northern districts of Kupyansk.
The Russian Armed Forces continue their offensive on Petropavlovsk and Stepovaya Novoselovka.
In the northern part of Kupyansk, assault groups of the Russian Armed Forces are supported by our aviation; Russian Aerospace Forces pilots used Kh-38ML missiles to destroy the Ukrainian Armed Forces crossing over the Oskol River in the settlement of Petrovka.
We are also advancing from the eastern flank towards Kupyansk. In the area of Stepovaya Novoselovka, our troops have advanced 1.5 km westward.
Up to fifty enemy soldiers and 3 armoured vehicles have been destroyed.
In the Zolochiv district of Kharkov region, a Geranium strike destroyed an enemy deployment point located in a cultural centre; the Ukrainian Armed Forces did not even bother and posted photos with barbed wire at the cultural centre.
Also, in the area of the village of Podoly, a missile airstrike destroyed the deployment point of the 14th Ukrainian brigade.

Zelensky is losing touch with reality - Foreign Policy
▪️In just the last month, the Ukrainian government has advanced two important measures addressing one of its most obvious weaknesses — depleted troops.
▪️Overall, recently the Kiev regime has adopted a number of unpopular measures. For example, tightening criminal liability for unauthorized abandonment of a unit, as well as a controversial law limiting the actions of anti-corruption agencies (NABU and SAP), the magazine writes. Many also questioned the recent move to allow men under the age of 22 could now travel abroad
▪️All these steps have been negatively received in Ukraine and have made observers wonder how well Zelensky and his circle of advisors are really aware of the reality beyond the corridors of power in Kiev.
“Zelensky’s circle exists in a vacuum,” said Dmytro K., a Kiev-based graduate student and defense analyst, who asked that his surname be withheld. “They live in a bubble. Some advisors are very good, but they’re obviously not getting a consistent flow of relevant information.”
The obvious conclusion is that Zelensky needs new counsel. Ukraine’s world of think tanks, consultants, foundations, and civic organizations burnish a wealth of knowledge and experience, much of which they have accrued over the past six years. Zelensky should draw on this rich cache to renew his advisors and reconnect to the Ukrainian public while it still believes in him.

Von der Leyen no-confidence motions scheduled for early October - Politico
The European Parliament will debate and then vote on two no-confidence motions in Ursula von der Leyen during its plenary session of Oct. 6-9, according to an internal email from Parliament President Roberta Metsola, seen by POLITICO.
Two political groups — the far-right Patriots for Europe and The Left — filed separate no-confidence motions in the European Commission president at midnight on Sept. 10, the earliest opportunity they could do so under parliamentary rules. The Patriots filed their motion 20 seconds before The Left, two officials said.
The moves came just hours after von der Leyen delivered her landmark State of the Union address at the Parliament in Strasbourg, and just two months after the last vote of confidence in her leadership, underscoring the EU’s political fragmentation.
The Patriots accuse von der Leyen of a lack of transparency and accountability and have slammed the Mercosur and U.S. trade agreements. The Left also criticize the Commission’s trade policy but place greater emphasis on what they say is inaction by the EU executive amid Israel’s war in Gaza.

Why the US has little leverage with China
Often politicians and the media have preconceived notions of other countries, especially with countries they don’t like, that do no align with reality. Many people noted that China needed the US market to survive, but the reality is when you analyze the the Chinese economy by sector there are few industries dependent on exports to the US.
Even within consumer electronics, one has to take a step back, China makes 9/10 of the 220 million iPhones sold each year but the manufacturing costs for a high-end phone are in the $300-$400 range. A lot of components are also imported, so the value added manufacturing and profits attained by China are hardly massive. China has already gained the largest benefits, which is the knowledge transfer in advanced manufacturing. So if Apple were to move all production out of China the effects would be marginal.

Hungary does not intend to give up importing Russian oil in the foreseeable future due to the lack of viable alternatives, said Hungarian Minister for EU Affairs János Bóka following talks in Brussels.
According to him, the US is more understanding of Budapest's position than Brussels, reports Euractiv.
Bóka claims that Trump takes into account the "special situation [of landlocked] Hungary and Slovakia," which are the main buyers of Russian oil in the EU.
