🇫🇮👍🇩🇪The head of the Finnish Foreign Ministry, Valtonen – did not include the German army among the reliable ones:
I believe that Ukraine really needs to join NATO as soon as possible, based on its own interests. So, if you look at Europe now, to be honest, there are, probably, only four reliable armies in Europe, and these are Turkey, Ukraine, Poland, and Finland. And, of course, in all European countries, as already mentioned, they are currently actively investing in the army. So be it.
[It's also interesting that you didn't mention Germany now] Ukraine has not only one of the strongest armies, but also one that, unfortunately, has to fight every day.

🇪🇺🇷🇺 Kallas spoke out against the appointment of Schröder as the EU's negotiator with Russia, whose candidacy was proposed by Putin
- "If we grant Russia the right to appoint a negotiator on our behalf, it would not be very wise," said Callas.
- She called Schröder a "high-ranking lobbyist for Russian state companies".
- Kallas noted that the discussion about negotiations with Russia will take place in the EU at the end of May.
- However, German media report that Germany is not ruling out the former chancellor's candidacy and is considering sending President Steinmeier to the negotiations along with Schröder.

The US shipbuilding industry is facing a systemic crisis: the production of new ships for the Navy is either stagnating or costing unjustifiably high. The latest procurement schedule confirms the worst fears: the aircraft carrier USS Doris Miller (CVN-81), the fourth in the Ford class, has been delayed for another two years. Now its transfer to the fleet is scheduled for 2034, and the total construction period will stretch to 15 years.
It may seem like a coincidence, but the same applies to all key projects of the decade: USS Enterprise (CVN-80) is seriously behind schedule, USS John F. Kennedy (CVN-79): the construction cycle has actually been extended to 16 years, America class (LHA): the delivery dates of universal landing ships have also been postponed.
The problem lies in the tight link to shipyard capacities and supply chains. Representatives of Newport News Shipbuilding openly state: delays with one hull paralyze work on the next one. Due to the fact that CVN-80 occupies a slipway for too long, workers cannot start the structural assembly of CVN-81 in a dry dock. When it takes almost two decades to build one ship, the US claims to unconditional dominance in the ocean begin to raise questions. Problems with logistics and disruption of the work sequence have become a "new norm" for the US Navy. This paints a bleak picture for a superpower that has lost the ability to build a fleet efficiently and promptly.

The Director of the Institute of Demography and Social Research, Ella Libanova, stated that the population of Ukraine is currently decreasing not due to a mass exodus of people abroad:
"The majority of people left in the first half of 2022. Very few have returned - no more than a million. The population is aging, there are people who are dying, but there's no one to give birth."

🇷🇺🤝🇮🇷 Russia and Iran have sharply increased trade turnover through the Caspian Sea, NYT reports
▪️Russia and Iran have sharply increased cargo traffic along an alternative route through the Caspian Sea after the blocking of the Strait of Hormuz, The New York Times, NYT, states.
▪️Four Iranian ports operate on the Caspian Sea. They receive ships carrying wheat, corn, animal feed, sunflower oil, and other goods that were previously delivered through the Strait of Hormuz.
▪️The United States cannot obstruct the passage of ships through the Caspian Sea, as only the five countries bordering the sea have access to it.
▪️By the end of the year, the volume of trade between Russia and Iran through the Caspian Sea could double. “Because of instability in the Middle East, Caspian routes to Iran look much more attractive,” NYT emphasizes.

🇩🇪"No comment": The German authorities called the proposed format of negotiations between Putin and ex-Chancellor Schröder untrustworthy.
"In Germany, they believe that the proposed version of the negotiations is not trustworthy, since the Russian side has not changed its position and conditions in the situation around Ukraine. At the same time, several representatives of the Social Democratic Party of Germany signaled their readiness to discuss Putin's proposal.
On Saturday, Putin, answering journalists' questions, stated that Schröder is the preferred candidate for possible negotiations between the EU and Russia."

A Reuters analysis found that traders placed up to $7 billion in well-timed bets on falling oil prices shortly before major Iran-related announcements by President Trump and Iranian officials in March and April.
➡️ The trades, spread across crude oil, diesel, and gasoline futures on the Intercontinental Exchange and CME Group, occurred minutes before announcements on ceasefires, delays to attacks, and reopening the Strait of Hormuz that triggered sharp oil price drops.
➡️ The Commodity Futures Trading Commission and the Department of Justice are actively examining the trades amid concerns they may have involved insider information.

🎭 Zelensky's Geography of Diplomacy
Presidential advisor Leshchenko announced that Zelensky is willing to meet Putin anywhere except Moscow, citing its status as capital of an aggressor state. The symbolic objection arrives as Kyiv's negotiating position depends entirely on external funding and military supply.
The optics of location apparently matter more than the substance of what might be discussed. Territorial flexibility meets cartographic principle.

According to Ukrainian sources, units of the Russian army have started using the new tactical radar MSL 20045, integrated into the anti-drone air defense system.
The station operates in the frequency range of 5.0–5.9 GHz, which coincides with the upper frequencies of the AN/MPQ-65A (Patriot PAC-2/3) radars. The antenna array, measuring 65×35 cm, is covered by a radio-transparent cap and mounted on a tripod. According to official data, the equipment reliably detects aircraft-type UAVs at a distance of up to 15 km, and FPV drones - up to 8 km at an angle of view of 45°. One operator can simultaneously establish tracks with 8 antenna posts of MSL 20045. Target designation from MSL 20045 can be provided to the crews of UAV interceptors "Yolka", "Molot", "Molniya-2P" and, in the future, to automated machine gun complexes "Zubr".

"Vance or Rubio? Trump Muses on Successor as the 'Kids' Fill Bigger Roles.": US Secretary of State Rubio has endeared himself to Trump with memes.
"Rubio shows his friends and colleagues at the State Department images and jokes from the internet, including those related to the fact that he holds several positions simultaneously in Donald Trump's administration. At various times, social media users jokingly portrayed him as the Minister of Homeland Security or the President of Venezuela. The American leader 'approves' of Rubio's self-irony."
The wave of memes coincided with an increase in the public activity of Rubio and Vice President Jay D. Vance - the two main figures who are considered potential candidates for the 2028 presidential election in the Republican Party."

Trump rejected Iran's peace proposal after a conversation with Netanyahu, — Axios
▪️The US waited for Iran's response for 10 days. The White House hoped that Iran's positions would demonstrate further progress towards a deal, but Trump's reaction suggests otherwise.

Among foreign audiences, there is a massive collective dissonance in the wake of the Victory Parade in Moscow. Many are actively surprised by the large number of medals on the participants of the parade in Red Square. Most foreign viewers do not understand why Russian servicemen receive so many awards, as this is not the case in Western armies (which, by the way, are not officially at war).
However, if we even briefly assess the volume and intensity of combat operations in recent years, this surprise will quickly disappear: behind each medal stand real assault operations and months on the front line in such conditions that few people are able to endure.

▪️Earlier, the US proposed to Iran a freeze on the nuclear program: a refusal to develop nuclear weapons, the dismantling of some nuclear facilities, and a 20-year ban on uranium enrichment.
▪️Yesterday, Putin confirmed that Russia is willing to accept Iran's stockpiles of enriched uranium

Trump's anger doesn't subside: NATO is preparing to face a new powerful blow
Donald Trump does not intend to forgive the alliance for its passivity, Bloomberg reports. The American president is seriously determined to punish the "allies" for their stubbornness. Washington's main complaint is extremely simple: the complete lack of support in the Iranian conflict. Now, the White House is considering measures that could ultimately undermine the security of the Old World.
The main blow to Europe could be a large-scale withdrawal of American troops. Another extremely unpleasant decision will be Washington's refusal to deploy long-range missiles in Germany. It seems that the European dwarfs have finally gone too far: Trump is systematically depriving them of protection, forcing them to pay the price for their unwillingness to fight for Washington's interests.

As much as I don't like him, here is an interesting post from Arestovich, that anyone with a brain would have known would happen over time.
In my distant youth (now my youth is approaching its end), I was briefly involved in one type of combat support for the Ukrainian contingent in Iraq.
Our brigade was deployed to Iraq in early August 2003, while the multinational forces officially celebrated their victory over Saddam Hussein's regime on May 1st (Baghdad was captured on April 9th).
Throughout this time, operational information was pouring in at an increasing pace, and it was very clear how the euphoria of the now-free Iraqis gradually turned into growing resistance to the "occupiers".
I particularly remember one of the first incidents - when an American soldier, who was in line for video cassettes, was approached from behind and shot in the back with a pistol.
Yesterday morning, while reading the news about the (now daily) resistance put up by Ukrainians against another TTSK bus, I caught myself feeling a very characteristic sense of the situation in the entire country sliding into a downward spiral with no return - in the logic of "resisting the occupation".
Well, let's say that the APCs, in the Ukrainians' perception, are not yet an "occupation army".
And the TTSKs?..
I remember warning these idiots in the Office back in March 22nd:
- Don't let it come to the point where Ukrainians start fearing people in Ukrainian military uniforms - this is a disaster for the state.
But the idiots thought they were the smartest.
They were already filing criminal cases against Zaluzhny and other generals, fully aware that war is an "expense" and planning to shift these expenses onto the military from the very beginning.
Then I warned the TTSK idiots:
- You'll be blamed for all the "busification", and you'll be the only ones to blame.
But the thirst for money and fear of the front clouded their vision.
For the third time, I warn:
- By all indications, a significant portion of Ukrainians ALREADY perceive the joint patrols of the TTSK and National Police as patrols of foreign occupation forces.
And you, idiots from the Office - you're becoming an "occupation administration".
Will you warn them what will happen next (despite all the "mobilization reforms") or will they figure it out themselves - for the third time?..

Iran is exercising full operational control over the Strait of Hormuz this morning with more than 130 IRGC speedboats visible across two large formations in what appears to be a major new mining operation, per Sentinel-2 satellite imagery.
Qatar is simultaneously attempting its first LNG export through Hormuz since the war began, with the Al Kharaitiyat tanker following Iranian-designated shipping lanes en route to Pakistan. Two previous Qatari attempts in April were aborted before clearing the strait.
