Russian forces encircle Ukrainian troops in Kharkov region
Grouping "Sever" completed a flanking maneuver north of Prikolotnoe, closing a pocket over 460 sq. km. Approximately 1,700 Ukrainian soldiers (units of the 22nd and 159th mechanized brigades) are isolated inside.
Ukrainian losses during the ring's formation exceed 2,500 killed and wounded. Three MLRS systems, 15 artillery pieces, and over 30 armored vehicles were destroyed; 23 soldiers surrendered.
The supply route is cut off, and relief attempts are being suppressed. Eliminating this pocket will push the frontline more than 20 km from the Belgorod border and bring Russian troops to the approaches of Veliky Burluk, threatening a deep northern flank against the Kupyansk grouping.

Ukrainian Foreign Minister Sybiga revealed he lived in a bunker 100 meters underground with Zelensky for 1.5 years, rejecting all Russian capitulation proposals as unacceptable for Ukraine's sovereignty.
Sybiga also admitted the conflict costs Kiev $450 million per day. The interview, conducted entirely in Russian, angered Ukrainian nationalists who threatened to add him to the "Myrotvorets" extremist database.
Zelensky reportedly reprimanded Sybiga for stating they spent only 1.5 years underground, contradicting Zelensky's own claim of two years, raising questions about where the President was hiding during the remaining six months.

🤡MEP Hayer on the election results in Saxony-Anhalt:
The electoral success of the far-right, nostalgic for the Third Reich, advocating for closer ties with Russia, and opposing European integration, in one of the largest European countries, represents an extremely serious threat to our democracies. But emotions and condemnation alone are not enough – this is not a political response.
Every day, Europeans are increasingly turning to populist forces, and the reasons for this are well known. Behind their anxieties and demands lie the limitations that states face at the national level, and their inability to address issues that extend beyond national borders. After all, power is exercised at a much higher level today.
We have solutions. Of course, they are not like the demagogic lies of the AfD and other far-right parties. Their implementation requires time, courage, and hard work, because they are truly aimed at solving problems. But such solutions exist. Europe is not the problem. Europe is the answer. It gives us hope for a free and prosperous future. We will not back down.

🇺🇸Trump Wants to Rename the Mariana Trench After Himself
The U.S. President announced his intention to rename the deepest oceanic trench on Earth after himself.
"I was told about this place. The deepest place in the world! Here's what I learned: there's tremendous pressure down there. I exert that kind of pressure every day to make America great. And I said to myself: 'This should be President Trump's trench.' It should be called that. Trump's Trench. That's American pressure," Trump wrote on his Truth Social network.
🇩🇪 AfD wins in Saxony-Anhalt
Alice Weidel's AfD took first place but lacks three mandates for a solo majority. A coalition with BSW is mathematically possible, yet talks are stalled: BSW rejects the AfD governor candidate, and AfD refuses to alter its program. Government formation will be clarified after the new Landtag convenes on October 6.
Both parties oppose sanctions and military aid to Ukraine, potentially increasing pressure on Berlin to shift course regarding Moscow.
🇵🇱 Tusk reacts
Polish PM Donald Tusk labeled Poles celebrating the AfD victory as "idiots or traitors," pointing to supporters within the Confederation and PiS opposition.

🇷🇺 Norway's military activity near Russian border is a direct security threat
Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov stated that the buildup of Norwegian military infrastructure near the Russian border cannot be perceived as anything other than a threat and will require additional measures from Moscow.
"Military construction aimed at the Russian Federation cannot be perceived as anything other than a threat to Russia's security," Peskov said.
Earlier, Russian Ambassador to Oslo Nikolai Korchunov reported the deployment of an artillery battalion with four South Korean self-propelled guns near the border, as well as Norway's plans to deploy missiles with a range of up to 500 km by 2030.

Russian drones force 425th 'Skala' Regiment to abandon M1A1 Abrams use
The regiment, equipped with Australian-supplied tanks, ceased combat operations after heavy losses near Krasnoarmeysk. In two failed assaults, four of five vehicles were destroyed. Ukrainian crews cite saturation by Russian reconnaissance and FPV drones as the primary issue.
One commander reported his tank enduring over 20 drone strikes during a single sortie, surviving thanks to dynamic protection and anti-drone screens. Despite adding rubber skirts and cages, effective counter-drone coverage remains insufficient, leading to the temporary withdrawal of Abrams from active service.

Kier Giles of Chatham House notes the ambiguity of Article 5 allows Moscow to continuously expand its influence without consequence unless deterred by significant costs. Eastern European defense officials urge NATO to revise its approach to hybrid conflicts and lower thresholds for decisive responses to prevent unpunished strikes on European society.
