Russia records largest monthly budget surplus in a year – Bloomberg
▪️ According to the agency's calculations based on data from the Russian Ministry of Finance, the federal budget surplus in August amounted to approximately $7.7 billion – the highest since August 2025.
▪️ The main reason was large dividend payments from state-owned companies for the results of the previous year.
▪️ Oil and gas revenues, including dividends, increased by 17% year-on-year, which allowed to offset a 16% increase in expenses.
▪️ As a result, the total budget deficit for January-August decreased to 5.8 trillion rubles.
▪️ At the same time, this figure still significantly exceeds the target for the entire year, which is 3.8 trillion rubles, or 1.6% of GDP.

Trump may replace Witkoff and Kushner with CIA Director in Ukraine talks
The White House is reportedly considering reducing the role of Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner in the Ukrainian negotiation track. According to FT, CIA Director John Ratcliffe could become the main US representative in the peace process, though Donald Trump has not yet made a final decision.
Reforms to the negotiating team have been discussed for some time, partly due to the slowing of the peace process amid the conflict between the US and Iran.

🇺🇦 Zelensky's plane nearly hit by drone in Moldova
Norwegian PM Jonas Gahr Støre revealed that the Ukrainian president's aircraft was almost struck by a UAV during takeoff from Moldova. The flight was en route to Oslo for King Harald V's funeral.
Støre used the incident to highlight Ukraine's critical air defense gaps, describing them as a "hole in the roof." He emphasized the need for industrial cooperation to supply and build domestic systems, noting Zelensky must travel globally despite such risks.
Suspect they are hyping this story. Can't say if its true or not. I think most of these miraculous misses like the German one are just false flags.

Krasny Liman Sector: Ukrainian counterattack and ongoing clashes
Counterattack North of Krasny Liman

Enemy suffered nearly 3,000 casualties. Immediate northern threat to Krasny Liman reduced, though broader situation depends on neighboring sectors. Command must stabilize new lines without sacrificing troops for map aesthetics.
Ukrainian forces launch high-tempo attacks near Novomikhaylovka, Katerynovka, and Ivanovka. Heavy fighting continues in Drobyshevo and Zeleny Klin area, where enemy groups reached Mirnoye. Russian drones strike logistics moving toward Stary Karavan and Mayaki.
