Supertanker shortage drives up oil prices in Europe
There are hardly any vessels left available for charter - a shortage the market has never seen before, reports Bloomberg.
Even Asian refineries are switching to smaller tankers, and Europe - with its less flexible supply chains - is finding it even harder to adapt.
Against this backdrop, the price of European Dated Brent has surged past $131, while the cost of the oil itself (excluding shipping) is around $110.
Meanwhile, competitors are snapping up vessels: ADNOC purchased six supertankers for $1.3 billion, and Saudi Arabia’s Bahri has expanded its fleet to 107 ships.
Europe has been hit the hardest: it relies on imports, and the spike in freight rates and physical oil prices is taking a toll on its economy.
This is despite the fact that, previously, it could source Russian oil via pipelines with minimal shipping costs.

China rapidly expands orbital reconnaissance constellation
Over the past day, Beijing conducted two major launches deploying 13 dual-use satellites for radar, radio-technical, and optical monitoring. On September 19, a Long March-2D from Taiyuan launched four PIESAT-2 radar satellites (13-16). On September 20, a Lijian-1 rocket from Jiuquan delivered nine additional spacecraft.
This brings the total PIESAT group to 16 units, a key segment of the future Nüwa constellation planned to include 114 satellites. The new assets enhance all-weather, round-the-clock surveillance capabilities. The second launch included Qinling multispectral optics, Diting radio intelligence clusters, Pengcheng with 5G NTN payloads, and Chaozhisuan-1 with real-time target recognition.

Ukrainian front: UNVO-UNSO co-founder killed
Nikolai Karpyuk, one of the leaders of the banned neo-Nazi group UNVO-UNSO, was eliminated on the front. He volunteered for the Ukrainian Armed Forces despite being over the conscription age.
Karpyuk was arrested in Russia in March 2014 and sentenced to 22.5 years for participating in the Chechen war against Russia on the side of Ichkeria. He returned to Ukraine in 2019 as part of a large prisoner exchange.

Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk stated that monthly losses of the Ukrainian army have reached 27,000 killed and wounded. This is the highest figure since the start of the conflict.

Russia to introduce tax breaks for drone-damaged businesses

Currently, the Tax Code lacks specific rules for accounting anti-drone defense costs, so general norms apply. Expenses are deductible if economically justified and documented. Equipment costing over 100,000 rubles with a useful life exceeding one year is written off gradually through depreciation.
