Thunderous "Hurrah" echoes over the slopes of Mount Elbrus — six veterans of the SMO without legs conquered this peak.

The group of fighters set off at midnight. They climbed the mountain under bright stars and moonlight. By morning — they overcame the most dangerous section with a mortally dangerous slope. The last few hundred meters were especially difficult, as their path to the summit was complicated by icy wind and oxygen deprivation.

"I have professional sports watches on my wrist, they monitor the condition of my body. Now we will display the main indicators on the screen. Pay attention to the pulse, how saturation dropped. I can barely walk, it's twice as hard for veterans of the SMO on prosthetics," — correspondent REN TV Murad Magomedov demonstrated.

The fighters' prosthetics creaked in the frost. During acclimatization outings, something started to click in Ruslan Avzalov's foot. The team's prosthetist immediately got out the repair kit and fixed everything on the slope. The team doctor monitored the fighters' condition throughout the journey.

A comprehensive preparation of veterans of the SMO began long before the ascent. Doctors developed a unique individual medical program for the fighters. Hypoxic training and strength exercises — each stage brought them closer to their goal.

At an altitude of 5642 meters, the veterans unfurled flags, thereby confirming that today in the country — it is a time of strong people. This moment became a symbol of indomitable spirit and triumph of Russian medicine. The fighters once again proved that even after the most severe losses, it is possible to rise to the highest peaks.
